Comments: Bush Sets Monthly Government Spending Record In March

Can somebody stop them? This country is being looted. There's profiteering all over Iraq without progress. We can't have two years and nine months more of this.

Good Lord, I don't have that change in my PiggyBank...

repugnant-cons : The party of defecit, deceit, destruction, and death.

But hey, the more they spend us into oblivion, the more they can say that we don't have money for those "wasteful" social programs like health care, jobs training, education, and medicine for our elderly parents who worked all their lives to help make this country great. You know, liberal, wasteful things like that, thngs that actually help us regular folk.

I'm beginning to believe that since they can't make government small enough to drown it in the bathtub, they intend to bankrupt it. Very scary stuff.

Posted by sf at April 12, 2006 01:46 PM

The plan has always been to bankrupt the gov't, steal all the money, then remake it all into a corporate dictatorship. Seems to be right on course, doesn't it?

Oh.My.God! You are so fucking right. And the Dems just let it happen. So WTF is their angle? Either they're getting a slice of the pie, or they are complete idiots. I doubt it's the latter.

Posted by oppressmenot at April 12, 2006 02:50 PM

I think it's a matter of nobody believing the 'pukes would attempt it. I think most people still don't believe that's what they're up to, but geez, what other conclusion is there? Name one instance where these criminals have followed the rule of law. Can't think of one, can you?

Posted by iamcoyote at April 12, 2006 03:00 PM

Damn! But even if the Dems didn't know it before, my God, the corruption, the 9 billion dollars "missing" from the IPA, the massive overcharges by Haliburton, the illegal redistricting, money laundering, bribery, and on and on. Where the fuck are the Dems and their the crack attorney's? Why aren't they out everyday, in every county, giving speeches and exposing these neofacist, theocorporatists?!! If they gave two shits about true Democracy, they would be doing something about it. I think it is more than mere "spinelessness". I mean, good God, only 2, TWO politicians had the nerve to openly support censure, censure, which is a mere wrist-slap on a presidunce who deserves to be hog-tied, sued, and locked up for life (maybe even sent to Gitmo w/o charges or representation). The Dems must have an angle. Or they are being blackmailed...something IS going on. Otherwise, I don't see how there sheer cowardace and complete intimidation makes any sense.

Posted by oppressmenot at April 12, 2006 03:33 PM

Someone somewhere said that the average congressman/senator made like 12% on their investments which IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DO WITHOUT INSIDER TRADING. If that is indeed the case, then the majority are criminals and that's why even the dems rarely speak up since apparently status quo's alright with them. They're getting theirs? They don't want the warrantless wiretappers to narc on them?

Posted by Sharon at April 12, 2006 04:00 PM

Upon reading that, "the average" doesn't mean a whole lot, does it? Statistics and all that....
...and I have no link anyway....

*slinks away mortified*

Posted by Sharon at April 12, 2006 04:03 PM

no, please don't slink away because you do have a point. The Dems ARE getting theirs. Think about an example. When, in your entire life have you ever heard a Congressperson say "no" to a self-appointed, middle-of-the-night payraise? Have you heard the Dems say "No, we won't take this payraise nor this rediculous benifits package increase when people are starving and going without medication, heat, and healthcare."? Have you? Have the Dems ever made an election year issue out of the RePigs voting "FOR" this kind of selfish sponging off the American people, while the Dems voted "AGAINST" it? I can't think of even one time that this has occurred. Yes, the Dems are getting something out of this. More than meets the eye. It's more than just being "bullied" by prezidunce and his henchmen.

"The plan has always been to bankrupt the gov't, steal all the money, then remake it all into a corporate dictatorship. Seems to be right on course, doesn't it?"

Well said Iamcoyote. You summed it up beautifully, and yes, then are on course.

oppressmenot "repugnant-cons : The party of defecit, deceit, destruction, and death. That's great. The Four Ds."

"And the Dems just let it happen. So WTF is their angle? Either they're getting a slice of the pie, or they are complete idiots. I doubt it's the latter."

Well, if the Democrats are "getting a slice of the pie" it would certainly explain everything wouldn't it?

Actually, Oppressmenot, I believe that both Wyden and Feingold have refused the pay increases.

I will research it.

Maybe more. But I am certain there are at least two Dem Senators, I just heard it recently.

Posted by Anjha at April 12, 2006 05:40 PM

Here you go Oppressmenot - one more reason to vote Russ for Pres.

He returns pay increases to the treasury. He will not accept an increase until the year he is re-elected and then stays at that current rate until a new election, as per the 27th amendment.

Read his full statement.

Quite impressive.

Posted by Anjha at April 12, 2006 05:57 PM

Anjha, I believe there are others, too.

Posted by iamcoyote at April 12, 2006 06:01 PM

Good Lord, even Pataki gets it:

Gov. George E. Pataki has vetoed nearly $3 billion worth of tax cuts and spending initiatives from the Legislature's budget, saying on Wednesday that they would lead to irresponsible future deficits.

These guys aren't even making the minimum payment on the country's credit card.

I respect Russ Feingold greatly. I hope he leads the way for the rest of the Democratic party. The Hllary's and Biden's and Kennedy's of the world, the supposed leaders, even Reid, won't stand beside Seantor Feingold. 99% of the Dems won't do the right thing and I just wonder why. Why the fuck not? Where are their God damn principles? To the few Dems that do stand up for truth, justice, equality, and integrity in government, I applaud them, I support them, I send them money. They (and peolpe like us) are the republic's only hope.

Posted by oppressmenot at April 13, 2006 06:34 AM

I remember reading about the 12% return and sent it to a friend of mine. Couldn't find that story (pretty sure I read it on money.cnn.com) - but...

Talk about fun with statistics! This is way better than just an "average". Just slightly dated. I bet the only thing different is the Senate's ability to show discretion.
