This is really great!
The WaPo deserves to be publicly humiliated for their crappy editorial(s). Although the bloggers (and Jane in particular) have tried to make the case, the NY Times reaches so much further and has so much weight that Mr. Hiatt might just think start realizing he's digging a hole that he might not be able to extract himself. And it's a hell of a lot harder blowing off the editors of the NY Times.
Posted by Mary at April 16, 2006 01:14 AMWhat a bunch of hypocrites! Where the hell were the NYT brains for the last several years? This 'cover our own asses by exposing someone else's' approach is nothing more than PR spin and damage control, or why else would they mention Miller, 'who worked here at the time'?
Certainly the tone of the editorial is welcome, but it doesn't begin to atone for all the damage, injury and death that Miller and NYT helped to foment by being complicit Bu$hCo lapdogs! A little mea cupla out of the NYT editorial board would be a good start toward reclaiming their honor.
Posted by pessimist at April 16, 2006 03:42 AMThanks Steve for posting this! Oh that just made my day...the headline was priceless....nothing like a good cat fight among major paper editorials I guess...wonder what the Rove, Hiatt, and Donald Graham response will be???
Btw...Happy Easter to those that celebrate!

Uhh...Hiatt made a fool(tool) of himself. NYT is just pointing it out to the sheeple.
A little mea cupla out of the NYT editorial board would be a good start toward reclaiming their honor.
I can live without the mea culpa if they start reporting the facts from now on.
The WAPO is done, unless they sell to new owners and fire Haitt and lil Debbie. Oh, I would fire Woodwards ass too. Anybody who hitches their wagon to W is headed down the toilet of history.
That was a nice Easter gift. Thanks, maybe we're not doomed after all.
Posted by Sharon at April 16, 2006 08:06 AMThis NYT gem might just glow a little bit brighter if we all sent over congratuatory notes to the NYT. How about if we send them a couple of grains of respect for this valiant little effort and see if we can make it sprout wings?
Posted by mainsailset at April 16, 2006 08:11 AMStrange,
The NYTimes op-ed board tends to get things right more often than not, only to have folks like Judy knee-pads who worked the actual journalism part of the paper.
Contrast that with the WaPost who's journalistic part that tends to get things right more often than not (IMO - still one of the most reliable sources of journalistic integrity, though there are occasional exceptions), yet has Fred "I love this war" Hiatt working the op-ed pages.
Darn that librul media thingy.
