as Tom Petty sang:
And I'm free
Free fallin', I'm a-free fallin', I'm a
Free fallin'
Free fallin', I'm a-free fallin', I'm a
Yeah, I'm free
Free fallin', I'm a-free fallin', I'm a
Free fallin'
Free fallin', I'm a-free fallin'
I still say it's 31%.
Posted by dj moonbat at April 20, 2006 12:50 PMman, can you imagine if the polls go as low as the 20's?
that would be sweet...
if fox is at 33% I suspect some other polls might hit 30 or even 28 or 29%...
what's the illigitimate fucktard gonna do then?
(probably invade somebody...)
Posted by John B. at April 20, 2006 12:54 PMWhy does Fox News hate America?
Posted by egregious at April 20, 2006 01:07 PMegregious, I've often wondered that myself these past 5 years.
Posted by iamcoyote at April 20, 2006 01:17 PMWhy does Fox News hate America?
"They hate for our freedom!"
Posted by ann at April 20, 2006 01:26 PMtake away 9/11, and Bush would have been at 33% by his third year in office and lost in 04 by a landslide. He was not the most popular candidate in 2000- Gore was. People explain his popularity after 9/11 in two ways - he was "decisive in retaliation against AlQueda ( an act that any president would have taken), and that he seemed to be the kind of guy you'd like to have a beer with. Now, years later, people see that Al Queda and Bin Laden are still on the loose, and nobody wants to have a drink with smart-aleck drunk, which is what we now see Bush to be. Bush likes to say "everything changed after 9/11", but really, nothing has in respect to him. People didn't like him before 9/11, and people don't like him now.
Posted by T2 at April 20, 2006 01:27 PMThe good news is we only have 1005 more days until he is officially irrelevant.
Posted by snark at April 20, 2006 01:40 PMShort of pulling the plug on America's tv sets, stopping the presses and censoring blogs he still has nowhere to go but down cause the bad news ain't done yet, in fact it's just getting warmed up.
Posted by mainsailset at April 20, 2006 01:49 PMI'd look for reports of massive shipments of radiological protective gear into the Middle East. It won't be for bluster, sabre rattling or menacing diplomacy either. Bush is the type to act out of desperation and my money is on nukes dropping on Iran two weeks before the '06 midterms. That's just enough time for sufficient numbers of the electorate to rush to Bush's side, clinging to der fuhrer in the confusion and doubt created by the bombings. "Rally around the flag and kill the scheming sand niggers" might aptly describe what Rove is gunning for. Any further out from the election and the disasterous consequences become apparent, the public fully awakened to the madness that is this administration.
Posted by steve duncan at April 20, 2006 02:12 PMFox's full poll results (in .pdf
format) indicate a margin of error of + or - 3%, so his approval could be as low as 30%.
I never ever thought I could love me some Fox error; 'til now!
Posted by credjam at April 20, 2006 02:17 PMI do not think attack on Iran could work this time. I believe America has wisen up to the tricks of this administration. Besides the Republicans have become tired of the war drums beating. It is a slide for Republican party and Rove with all his tricks will not be able to stop it.
If Democrats start talking tough, they could get back the Congress.
Posted by suresh at April 20, 2006 02:18 PMThere's no way George Bush is going to win a House or Senate race this fall. If he were running, that is.
Posted by muckdog at April 20, 2006 02:31 PMWhat's the MOE (margin of error) on this? 35% may still be his base. Of course, if it dips below 30%, watch out.
Still, just because they've become disenchanted with the Decider, doesn't mean they become enlightened. Every asshole who voted for Bush in 2004 is still an asshole.
Posted by stoic at April 20, 2006 02:42 PMstoic, don't forget the brainwashed asshole offspring who will be voting for the first time in November.

Exxon oil exec gets a retirement package of 400mil and regular Americans can't afford to go to work with the high gasoline prices... is anybody surprised by the dismal poll numbers? I'm amazed Fox even reported it. It's gonna be a long hot summer.
Posted by Mal Feasance at April 20, 2006 03:49 PMIn addition - you all hear about this genius's plan to "test" nuke in AZ in June?
Are friends in AZ; move. If you can't move get some gear.
This maniac is going to destroy the planet.
I can't believe this maniac has anyone who approves of him. Period.
Posted by Anjha at April 20, 2006 04:19 PMNow is the time for Democrats to come out with their own vision for America - as a clear alternative to the failed policies of Bushco. We should be seeing seeing our team on all the talk shows - in the newspapers, radio talk shows, op eds, ads etc.- promoting Democratic issues and policies.
I hope that when they come back from their vacation next week - they'll be prepared to do just that!!
Posted by leftydem at April 20, 2006 04:37 PMTime to call the Congress and raise some hell.
Any of you committed to attending town halls with your Reps? My guy on Saturday - I am pissed. His name is on this and he will hear from me about it.

Ha ha muck, yer funny.
Here's what you meant to say;
There's no way anybody who supports George Bush is going to win a House or Senate race this fall.
And let me be the first to welcome you to the reality community!
Posted by SnarkyShark at April 20, 2006 04:56 PMSteve,
What in the world are you thinking? Have you taken leave of your senses? Why you know darn well you can't trust ANYTHING Fox News says. They're just a conservative hack network!
Shame on you.
Posted by David at April 20, 2006 05:36 PM"If Democrats start talking tough, they could get back the Congress."
LOL!!!! That's the funniest thing I've heard all week!!!
=============================================
"Now is the time for Democrats to come out with their own vision for America - as a clear alternative to the failed policies of Bushco."
And what plan would that be? Raise taxes, withdrawal from Iraq, talk nice with Iran, impeach Bush? The problem is that the plan the Dem's do have is just a rehash of the failed policies of the past, whcih they dare not articulate in public. So they will have to run on "vote for us so we can impeach Bush". It won't work.
Posted by David at April 20, 2006 05:41 PMDavid, who said that was the Democrats' vision? Please point us to that link now.

Good one Steve!
The effete cheerleader from Andover does have a thing for bald guys seriously. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

David finally says something true. I think the real numbers were about 10 points lower.
And link to the site that explains all those Dem plans you laid out.
Any linkage to the oxy kid doesn't count.
Posted by SnarkyShark at April 20, 2006 07:12 PMAre we better off than we were five and a half years ago? That's the real question.
Posted by at April 20, 2006 07:27 PMThe Crazification Factor is 27%. So he's got about 6 points to go. Relevant section:
The Crazification Factor 10/10/05Posted by ccobb at April 20, 2006 11:10 PMJohn: Hey, Bush is now at 37% approval. I feel much less like Kevin McCarthy screaming in traffic. But I wonder what his base is --
Tyrone: 27%.
John: ... you said that immmediately, and with some authority.
Tyrone: Obama vs. Alan Keyes. Keyes was from out of state, so you can eliminate any established political base; both candidates were black, so you can factor out racism; and Keyes was plainly, obviously, completely crazy. Batshit crazy. Head-trauma crazy. But 27% of the population of Illinois voted for him. They put party identification, personal prejudice, whatever ahead of rational judgement. Hell, even like 5% of Democrats voted for him. That's crazy behaviour. I think you have to assume a 27% Crazification Factor in any population.
John: Objectively crazy or crazy vis-a-vis my own inertial reference frame for rational behaviour? I mean, are you creating the Theory of Special Crazification or General Crazification?
Tyrone: Hadn't thought about it. Let's split the difference. Half just have worldviews which lead them to disagree with what you consider rationality even though they arrive at their positions through rational means, and the other half are the core of the Crazification -- either genuinely crazy; or so woefully misinformed about how the world works, the bases for their decision making is so flawed they may as well be crazy.
John: You realize this leads to there being over 30 million crazy people in the US?
Tyrone: Does that seem wrong?
John: ... a bit low, actually.
Ahhh, ccobb beat me to the crazyfication factor.
In other news, we are well into the BTKWB zone.

I heard that Operation Divine Strike* will be a test of a 700 tonne** "bunker buster" newk-you-lar device just outside of Lost Wages, Nevada.
* - what's up with the religious imagery in naming this operation?
** - anybody got a handy-dandy conversion table? How many kilotons / megatons would that be? .7 kilotons?
Posted by (: Tom :) at April 21, 2006 05:57 AMTom, the "Methodist Divine Strike, Model 700" is equivalent to 700 billion Black Cat lady fingers.
Posted by TIKI AL at April 21, 2006 09:39 AM* - what's up with the religious imagery in naming this operation?
Tom, Here's my take on it. The religious imagery is a reflection of 3 things. 1)Bush's deranged, messianic egomania ( a material projection of his self-importance and supposed closeness to God), 2) an implication that this action is somehow sanctioned by the Almighty and that He is on 'our' side ( even as the US continues to murder His children), and 3) an affirmation to his base supporters of wacked, religious ballistic, Armageddon worshipping, rapture obsessed freaks that he (the Killer-in-Chief) is with them all the way to the bitter end.
Posted by oppressmenot at April 21, 2006 09:42 AMTom, 1 kill a ton of people=1000 tons of tnt or 2,ooo,ooo lbs (short tons) or 2,240,00 lbs (long tons) . which one we are dealing with is anyones guess. msn encarta nuclear weapons.
