Comments: GOP Facing Political Justice Over High Gas Prices

Karl Rove and Rush Limbaugh must have already gotten together this weekend. Listen to the words coming out......

You know, I seem to recall that the Bush tax cuts were supposed to give money back to the corporations so that they could invest in infrastructure. So, it seems the oil companies should have been following the trickle-down plan all along and building refineries, because that's how it works when you cut taxes. But, oh, whatever, remember, no one cares about oil prices.

Been there, done that ... think CA's Enron-induced energy scam in the summer of 2000. cheney said there was nothing they could do, the best solution would be provided by the free market.

We're all Grandma Millie now ...

The raping of the middle class continues. When we finally stand up it will be to late.
The theives will be in Caymans all fat and happy by then.

Yes the dems will be blamed for blocking drilling, and if they cave, they are flippers that caved too late to help us. Properly applied spin can solve anything, right Karl?

Exxon is truly a model Republican: pay the CEO $400 million? No problem. Pay for the Exxon Valdez cleanup? Sorry, folks, not our problem!

Yet another reason why Cheney won't divulge the minutes of the Secret Energy Taskforce meeting--they weren't talking about switchgrass and biodiesel...

You realize that gas prices will subside now. The costs have gone up until the news media and people pay attention, and then the prices will fall back down to the point where they're about $0.05-.10 more than what they were 4 weeks ago.

I can't wait to heal enough that I can start riding my bike to work next week.

*****

They better not get too fat...they'll need to run pretty fast once I track them down.

At some point, a point passed long ago, frankly, enough is enough. In BushWorld, those who play by the rules are treated as suckers and losers. Those who follow the law are treated as naive and deserving of exploitation. In BushWorld, a good, honest, patriotic American is viewed as cannon fodder and an exploitable resource for their filthy lucre.

In short, in BushWorld, those who adhere to traditional American values are fucked.

So it's long past time to end this shit and purge the nation of these malignant scum.

Some big oil observers believe that one reason new refineries weren't pushed for is that Big Oil is very well aware that world oil production is set to decline, not increase, so why in the world would one invest in additional refining capacity? It's a contracting industry, not an expanding one.

Plus, less than optimal refining capacity permits doctored price hikes, spikes, bottlenecks, etc which only redound to the finanacial gain of our beloved "free-market" petroleum industry.

Remember, at current world rates of consumption, there are 36 years of known reserves. That's all. How long you think one of these refineries lasts? Longer than 36 years, that's for sure.

Arnold and the chimp speaking out on Earth day is like booking Dracula to hold hemophilia seminars.

Consider: if every corporate gangster punk was hung by the neck from the corner gas station overhead immediately upon raising prices, would we see price raises of any kind? I do believe that’s a ‘no.’

Maybe we should just cut their hands off for stealing like they do in Saudi Arabia.

I don't know about ya'll in your communities but here in Little rock I have noticed the last week more and more people running out of gas on the side of the road. So last week I stopped and helped this guy who was stranded. He was hopping mad about gas prices and the amount of money it was costing him. So that got me to thinking I can kill two birds with one stone. I keep a gas can in the back of my truck and voter registration forms in the front.
I have stopped and helped out 2 people this week and both were not voters but are registered Democrats now! If I can do it so can you.

They put gay marriage on the ballot, and that wipes out 1000 years of playing AAA good samaritan.

How about a ban on foreign job relocation on the ballot, or a vote on the war funding?

Country Ken; great idea. I have not noticed more cars in the breakdown lanes here in Chicagoland, but I have not been looking for that either.

CountryKen,

Brilliant. That is the kind of action that can turn this country around. Neighbor helping neighbor, assisting those in need, and educating them in the process.
