The Bush regime will plan an October surprise, possibly a false flag operation where they set off a nuke on some ship just before it get's into an American port and then blaming it on the Iranians. Fear will rally people around Bush and the Republicans. The Democrat's will be left sucking "hind tit" with this strategy of "leave them alone and let them hang themselves" because the Reps are much smarter than that. So what could the Democrats do? Expose the false flag operation that got us into Iraq? If they tried that it might backfire because the public would soon realize that the Democrats knew long ago about that false flag operation in New York and said nothing. Thus helping in covering it up. Who knows, maybe some leading Democrats were involved as well. After all, imperial mobilization via a synthetic terror isn't unique to either party.
Posted by at April 24, 2006 02:49 PMFurthermore, respondents were split 47%-47% on whether or not Bush was competent.
*******************************
47% consider "duh, which way did he go George" competent? WTF?! They are incompetent to judge competency, unless what they are really saying is that George is competently incompetent. Maybe that's what they meant. Still, where did those 47% come from... Haliburton, Exxxon-Moblie, or perhaps the pharmacuetical industry?
Posted by oppressmenot at April 24, 2006 02:58 PMThere is an incompetency meme going around about the Bush regime and it might take hold. People think the regime's handling of Iraq was incompetent but Rumsfeld says things are going fine. Well, Rumsfeld is right since the real plan was never the press releases but instead a classic divide and conquer strategy which initially requires chaos to break Iraq apart into three sections. That is exactly what's going on now.
Posted by at April 24, 2006 03:21 PMGood point, . But the shrub is a bonafide idiot, a mouthpiece w/o a brain. However, the real strategists in this cabal are far from stupid. They are brilliant political technitions. I believe that NOTHING that happens during this misadministration is a mistake or unplanned. It all has a purpose, an underlying motive as well as a "sellable" stated motive. For example, even right now, the Shrub's extreme behavior is no accident. It's political cover to shift the blame and focus from the rubber-stamp Repugnicon Congress, to the bizarre, imperial, Leaker-in-Chief. Shouldn't every American be pissed as hell right now that Bush let Fitz spend all this time and taxpayer money on the leak investigation (c'mon Repigs, we know how you feel about wasted tax money and wasteful government), that Bush said he would 'take care' of the leaker, that Bush acted as if he had no idea how it happened, and he really wanted to know who it was, when all along he knew that HE had authorized the god-damn leak. The more Dubia Port Deals, the more (India) Nukes for Mangos deals, the more NU-que-lar bomb threats he makes, the more the Ignoramous-in-Chief looks like a quack, and the Repig members of Congress can begin to distance themselves from him. It's happening already. Maybe old news, but a pattern is starting to develop, and the strategy of the Shrub becoming the REpig goat may explain a few things. There are reasons to EVERY move they make, no doubt.

Scout, HOw true. I believe that is their ultimate goal, a ruling elite aristocracy, who lords over the masses of disenfrachised peasents with no power or money, but whose LABOR is under the tight control of the aristocracy. Who they hurt, how much of God's beautiful gift to us, this green, glorious earth, they pollute, poison or destroy is of no consequence to them. This earth belongs to God, and everything in it, yet they desecrate, destroy and kill God's children and his precious gifts to humanity. We are called to be good stewards of God's treasures; our earth, our brothers, God's creatures big and small. They are not ours to destry and abuse. What a slap in the face. But they are like dogs who crap in their own drinking water beacause it is not perfect, instead of thanking their owner for the refreshment. Sooner or later, they will taste the end result of their efforts. But we can not wait for divine justice. I believe that we are called to try to restore sanity, to help the poor, to work for peace and social justice, to be a brother to our neighbors, and to throw out the money changers!

Tiki: yes, and it's a $2.5 million US condo cave. Don't ask the location, but I can tell you it's got a hell of a better view than Tora Bora, and no daisies to cut. That'll piss Riechmarshal von Rumsfeld off.

Perhaps the dumb bastard finds that the message of Jesus is concordant with peace, fairness, justice and helping our brothers and sisters, especially in the midst of this sick and murderous administration. Perhaps that is looney to you sir, which would make you the dumbER bastard. If you really want to start name-calling and attacking those who are fighting on the same side as you, knock yourself out. Last time I checked, this was an open discussion where relevant religious views were welcome, and diversity of opinion was tolerated and sometimes celebrated. I assumed this blog stood for the principles it espouses. You know, the basic concepts that Bush opposses and you, supposedly, support; freedom, diversity of opinion, openness, fairness, equal opportunity, those kinds of things. What is it, exactly, that you are trying to prove? That you can split the unity of those opposed to Bush and his cronies because some of us happen to be Christian? Great strategic move tempus. That will definitely help the cause.

[Editor: ignore=off]scout, ok, fine. We can all get pissed, but I don't think it's helpful to needlessly slam your own teammates. We should probably save our venom for the ones who are trying to kill the Bill of Rights, steal our money through regressive tax schemes and illegal wars, and turn this country into a corporatocracy. That's where mine is going.
Posted by oppressmenot at April 24, 2006 08:19 PMHey Steve, What happened to Busby in CA-50 CD? She only came up to the Kerry level of support in 2004. Remember how gerrymandered America is? Do you really believe this 10 point crap?
CA-50 CD, home of the criminally convicted "Duke" Cunningham. Shouldn't the voters have been out for revenge? Angry electorate, you'd expect the GOP to stay home, be discouraged. Didn't happen, Busby didn't get the 50% to win outright. Even though the turnout was just 33% of registered voters; the percentages were within 1 percentage point of 2004. Is this an early indicator of the 2006 vote? Fractured GOP, 14 members running verses only 2 Dems. The Democrat vote only measured 45%, the other Dem took one percent with Busby taking 44%.
Believe those national polls as you will and at your peril.
Posted by peter at April 24, 2006 09:46 PMScout, forget about peak oil and oil reserve shortages because all that is just a sham. This isn't the first time the West/US engineered oil shortages it happened in the seventies.
Posted by at April 24, 2006 09:54 PMPeter, are you so starved for good news that you bring up something unrelated to this post about results in a GOP district where the Democrat pulled 44%? And you think that helps your argument?
Posted by Steve Soto at April 24, 2006 10:00 PMSteve, America is gerrymandered with 65% of ALL districts built along the guidelines of CA-50 for the GOP. The results there are an indicator of the 2006 vote. If you're thinking CA-50 is to be expected, you can't believe these national polls with Dems up 10 points will make any difference in the outcomes of the 2006 vote.
I can't wait for the second Wednesday morning in November. I'm going to be celebrating the victories of the night before.
The moral clarity of the Brownshirt & Crucifix party: now they celebrate and hype the fact they intentionally gerrymandered America for the GOP.
This is the type of factoid that GOP central blasts out to the faithful reactionaries to ready them for battle: "don't worry, the game is rigged".
peter, make sure to tell us when command central boosts morale by reminding you of their voter suppression/election rigging plans, too.
What a party of absolute moral turds, peter first among them.

Posted by tempus at April 25, 2006 02:55 PMI have an interesting theory. Watching Bush all these years makes me realise that there may be (duh) something psychologically wrong with the man. The other day something really clicked for me. He's got delusional personality disorder! That has to be it! The weird lies that he himself believes, the inability to believe that he can be wrong, the skewed view of the world. It all adds up! I even asked a psyche major I know to tell me what she thought. She thinks he's a textbook case!
