[Editor: ignore=off]at least he has a brain and may inject some common sense into their policies.
He's obviously smarter than W.
And I'm sure Scotty was roundly ignored at ever step of the way. He reminded me of the little dog in the cartoons: "What do I say today, boss? What do I say today? Huh, boss? Huh?"

Uhhhhhhhhhh, yeah!
The press secretary's job is only to spew the sewage - not to process it into useable fertilizer!
Posted by pessimist at April 26, 2006 08:10 AMHow could anyone but a confirmed Brownshirt & Crucifix party hack take this job?
If SnowJob is really a "journalist", he will resign in a huff in 6 months, because the position, as required by KKKarl and carried out by Ari Flack and Scottie McShitten, is simply official obsfuscator.
If SnowJob stays longer, he's just another brokeback towelboy.
Posted by euzoius at April 26, 2006 08:23 AMI'm very curious to see how a frequent fill-in for Rush Limbaugh (who castigates the "drive-by media" roughly every three seconds on his show these days) handles the White House press corps. Will he dazzle them with his footwork? Will he get way out on a limb and make a fool of himself? Or will the Helen Thomas's among the corps show the emptiness of a great deal of rightwing rhetoric these days? Should be good drama...but whether it will be good for the White House (or for FOX) remains to be seen.
Posted by Kit Stolz at April 26, 2006 08:28 AMWelcome to the job, Mr. Snow.
Karl Rove is testifying before the grand jury for the fifth time today.
Posted by KM at April 26, 2006 08:51 AMSnow claims he only took the job because the Admin agreed to let him help out on their politcs. Fat chance. He's been on the job a few hours and they've already started lying to him. That aside, how perfect is this. A guy who has been paid by FOX to shill for the WH on TV is now paid by the WH to shill on TV. That's cutting out the middleman for sure. Now he doesn't have to worry about being "fair and balanced" anymore!
Posted by T2 at April 26, 2006 09:06 AMThis is just precious.
These fuckstains are like a bad comedy act...unfortunately, the joke's on us.

He has been 'fair' (to the wrong wing), and 'balanced',( I mean he's not lopsided, stands up straight, doesn't wobble when he walks). There you go, Republican Word Parsing 101. Yes, all you need do is continue in the great Repugnican't tradition of putting the "mock" in demockcracy and the 'con' in conservative. This is something that Mr. Snow is already quite adept at doing.
Posted by oppressmenot at April 26, 2006 09:18 AMI hear the WH believes Snow (handsome, a journalist, etc.) will be able to charm the newly awakened White House Press Corp into writing positive stories about Little Boots.
Can't wait for Helen Thomas to grab him by the balls! :-)

That's an odd belief for the Whore House, given that Tony Faux has been a withering critic of the media.
I'm guessing that after a few days of politeness, the reaping of the sowed is gonna take root.
Posted by God Of War at April 26, 2006 09:37 AMThey might as well just move the Fox News Studio to the White House.
Posted by Jason at April 26, 2006 09:44 AMI would love to see the White House Press Corps continue (start?) to do their jobs and forget about any "honeymoon" for the new "lie to the press" secretary. Ideally, they would give him a couple of shots at truly answering questions and actually providing information, and when that doesn't happen, they should all just stop going to the press briefings and go out and do some actual reporting.
Oh, well...a man can dream
Posted by Dale at April 26, 2006 09:52 AMScotty had two problems as Press Secretary. He wasn't in the inner circle and he actually didn't believe all the Propaganda that he was spreading around and it showed.
Tony Snow took the job because he believes President Bush’s when said he will be in the inner circle. President Bush selected Tony Snow because Tony also literally believes all of the White House propaganda.
Posted by Jim S at April 26, 2006 09:57 AMHow did they blackmail Snow into taking a paycut for an even less credible clown job than Fox news? Did he agree to a "how stress effects colon cancer" medical study?
This looks like a really bad move for him, where is the up side?
Posted by TIKI AL at April 26, 2006 09:57 AMHow long before he begins to sound like Goebbels?
Posted by suds at April 26, 2006 10:06 AMScottie's big problem: flop sweat. I don't think Snow has that problem, I've only ever seen him on Real Time and he has no problem lying and spinning the Republican talking points.
Posted by ann at April 26, 2006 10:20 AMSteve sez: The major difference I see is that by some accounts, McClellan was bothered by the lying and spinning that was a part of his daily job, and he actually cared about his integrity.
Scotty's heart just wasn't in it, and it showed. He was always trying to figure out a way to tell technical versions of the truth, so he couldn't be caught lying, and he would make himself visibly uncomfortable trying to think them up on the spot. Ari just lied his ass off, with no concern whatsoever.
I don't know enough about Snow to tell, but he looks like a smarter version of Ari--hyperpartisan, vicious, and without regard for the truth. In other words, a perfect choice. Josh Bolten is doing wonders already.
But the problem isn't the lipstick; it's the pig.
