Comments: After Dubai Deal Outrage Has Faded, GOP Votes Today Against Screening All Cargo Containers

Those Republicans....so strong on national security - not!

Politicians suck.

Republicans strong on National Security?? Consider the fact that 9/11 HAPPENED ON THE REPUBLICAN'S WATCH one month after the president was warned that it would happen. If anyone thinks we are safe with Bush in the White House, think again.

Man, Dems better REALLY keep their powder dry, because there's so much of ammo lying around Congress right now they might accidently blow something up!

Hopefully the Capital & Crucifix team will adopt their laughable Lobbying (non)Reform Act this week as well.

Keep passin' those conservative bills, boys! We need all the help we can get.

From the first article Steve refernces : The coalition fears that committee Republicans will cave to political pressure from Democrats and organizations that say the GOP is becoming weak on security. "I think there is more political attention on [this issue] now than there was a few weeks ago. Our hope is that Republicans hold the line," said Jonathan Gold, the Retail Industry Leaders Association's vice president for global supply chain policy.

Why is it always about caving to Democrats, or holding the like against the Democrats? Why can't the RePulsive-cons just do something because it is right and benefits the majority of Americans? Aren't they supposed to represent the PEOPLE of this country, not the corporations and associations? They don't even ACT as if they weren't corporately elected, even when it means more opportunities for MWD's being snuck into the country, and easier access to our citizens for terrorists.

Well, it's close to dinner, and I don't want to make anyone ill, but what do you expect from the corrupt, bass-ackwards politicians we have. I truly despair. WTF is wrong with the electorate. Never mind voting for your party or ideology. Vote an honest rep in, for god's sake. The sewer rats have got to go.

Oppressmenot, one thing that has puzzeled me is that terrorists don't always target the general population, but those in the political arena also. Does Bush think he is immune from a terrorist attack?

Does Bush think he is immune from a terrorist attack?

Judith, Yes, I think he does. He likely believes that his SS security force will protect and insulate him from any and all dangers to his person. When I was in DC recently and walked by the WH, there were helicopters nearby, marksmen on the rooftop, and cops everywhere. This prick knows the world hates his heartless guts, and he is forever surrounded by an army of testosterone seeping Dirty Harry wannabes ready to blow someone's brain out. There is also always a jet, plane, or limo ready to get him out of a contaminated area in a skinny minute. And as we all know, he doesn't worry about us little people. If yoy are brown, or black or red, or poor, or middle-class, then you are expendible. Do I think he is immune to terrorism, NFW, but alot more immune than any of us are, thats for sure, and that's all he gives a damn about.

Please lets not forget the real expendable folks this administration targets; the gay, disabled, homeless, children, immigrants and Veterans!

bbtb, its all true, too true.

I'll be taking bets for when the RNC will try to twist this to make it seem like the Dems were there ones opposed to 100% container inspections.

Another fine example of Republican's running our country into the ground.

Hong Kong screens 100% of their containers. It is NOT a technology issue.
