Comments: Watch The Grand Jury Tomorrow For Signs Of Fitz

Even unremitting douchebaggery has its limits. It's nice to see that what's nailing them, at last, is the arrogance of living from news cycle to news cycle and discarding inconvenient facts as if they don't matter. Only it's the image that's transient and the demonstrable facts that will survive.

Bob Woodward has to be certifiable! How could anyone forget their personal ethical standards (as Woodward obviously has) after taking great risks in the past to expose someone for activities which violated those standards?

Woodward deserves to have history forget his Watergate role and focus only on what a corporatist stooge he's become. In fact, history should just write him off and forget him completely. We'll just call what happened to Richard Nixon 'the invisible hand of God exercising His first presidential NO! vote'

What a contrast: you have Woodie, working his "access", attaching himself like a haemorrhoid to the recta of power, and Carl Bernstein, writing a passionate piece about the need to impeach Boosh.
It is remarkable how two careers, seemingly on similar trajectories after the Watergate stories, should have diverged so dramatically. Overweening ambition coupled to a rather limited ability and questionable ethics, I suppose, finally will sink Woodie.

Realizing that all of the "news" on this is spin from Rove because Fitz aint talking is the key. A comment from Immanentize at FDL nails it:

The spin, as I have before theorized, is to keep the country from believing that Rove is beyond a doubt, without a question, guilty. The spin is not aimed at Fitzgerald, but at you (and me and every other citizen) via the media “news/commentariat.” Like you say, “Who cares if it doesn’t effect legal outcome?”

Well, if this can be put off just about six more months, then the President (post-election) will be able to issue pardons. If the Republicans retain control of Congress, then the current spin will help them go out and support the pardons:

“This is an investigation that has gone on too long and produced very few results. We know less now than we did when the entire issue arose. I applaud the President in putting an end to this costly and unproductive process.” And as we all know, that is the civil version.

If Dems take control of one or both houses, the current spin and confusion still allows the President (who will be the lamest of lame ducks in history) to still make that same argument and the vast majority of people will agree. They will know something is fishy, but they will be happy to have that investigation — which is just so darn confusing — behind them.

So, the spin is for the Winter 2006 pardon strategy. Hence, Comstock’s involvement at every turn.

WOW!

Nah, I don't think we need to bring God into it. He/She (if h/she exists) gave us free will and I personally think if there's a hell, we're in it. It's karma that keeps me on the straight and narrow path of trying not to hurt anyone. "What goes around comes around" and all that. And when I see people hurt, I mostly want to cry. These power hungry freaks just don't notice the things they do that harm others (24/7 I'm sad to say). They're sociopaths that can't be bothered with their fellow humans. Too bad they can't teach that stuff in school, or church I guess.

but without God-fearing character

Exactly. My God has many arms, jewels for teeth, rides a peacock, and can kick your gods ass. So fear him.

the Godless that become predatory upon the social destruction of a once honored or powerful personality

Yeah. Just like most christians and jesus christ today.

Yes they do. They think these people deserve it.

As much as i'd like to see Rover indicted tomorrow, upon further consideration, I hope that Fitz keeps stretching it out and stretching it out, with Rove never knowing what he's being charged with...

kinda like Gitmo, with karma.

Let's not forget that Billmon suggests the reason Rover is paying so many visits to the jury ... is to squeal on somebody. He's turned.

Plausible?

"No wonder Karl looks like he is losing weight."

He's skinnying himself up to fit through the bars of his cell.
