Gore looks like a new person. He looks confident, intense, and "above it all."
I'm not gonna lie to you...I'm surprised by it.
Posted by God Of War at May 15, 2006 11:39 AMI'm in love with gore. I am just praying he runs. I think a lot of america is ready to say "oh, just turn back the clock" and let me have that vote again.
aimai
Posted by aimai at May 15, 2006 11:53 AMHonestly, he's more appealing to me than any of the Democrats who are running.
I wouldn't have any problem at all voting for him again.
On a more somber note I just found out from my brother that my nephew will be shipping out to Iraq with the Army National Guard in June.
Pointless fucking madness.
Posted by snark at May 15, 2006 12:03 PMThe best I ever saw him was after the loss, working in the yard with his wife. He was in a plaid shirt and jeans and had a beard. Just so different and relaxed than his "election" look.
It would be an interesting excercise to sit back and think of how different things would have been these last six years.
We're going to need some big ideas, drive, and transparency once G-jr is out. God knows there's going to be plenty o' "clean-up" work..
snark, shouldn't your nephew be heading to the mexican border? So Bush is just blowing it out his ass again about border security, right? What a surprise! So sorry to hear your nephew's being sent to that hell hole. Here's hoping he comes back unscathed.
Posted by iamcoyote at May 15, 2006 12:15 PMNow that Broder, Cohen, and the other drooling old fucks at the WaPo are having their calls monitored maybe they'll, at least, stop their Bu$hCo rimjobbing for a while. Don't hold your breath, though.
Posted by red_neck_repub at May 15, 2006 12:17 PMThe most qualified candidate in America, with the best vision for the country. Unquestionably the best in the Democratic fold, even after his "loss" in 2000.
Why else do you think the Bagleys and peters are so quick to declare that Hillary is a lock and we better just accept it? The Rightists know he's our strongest candidate.
We could do no better than to run Gore and Feingold. I could live with Boxer as VP as well, just as a reward for her consistent opposition to Nero.
Posted by euzoius at May 15, 2006 12:23 PMwow snark - that sucks - I hope he can stay out of trouble and keep his wits.
That's fucked up - and think of all the multiple tours our soldiers have to accept. They need to MAP OUT THE DAMN ENDGAME!
I've impulse shopped, but do not think I would ever "impulsively war".
I love that Rove blamed Iraq for Bush's low ratings today. No SHIT - YA THINK?!!?
Posted by dishwashing engineer at May 15, 2006 12:27 PMsnark, shouldn't your nephew be heading to the mexican border?
Hadn't even occured to me! I'm sure everyone involved would prefer that. He's trained in air traffic control so our hope is that he'll be general out of harms way on an airbase somewhere. My brother and his family have been living in Oklahoma for the past ten years. My brother's a....I won't say fan..but a Bush supporter. He served a tour in the Navy. I know he wasn't to keen on his kids joining up (another son is in the Airforce Reserves) but they didn't want to do college and according to my brother "there isn't much else to do out in Oklahoma". Not sure how he feels about the war but I'm sure he's not happy that his son is going over there.
Thanks for the good wishes.

Dishwashing engineer, I can't. It is too painful.
Posted by Judith at May 15, 2006 12:41 PMI hope they are happy now, with Bush monitoring their phone calls.
The Beltway Power Pundits do not care about the government monitoring reporters' phone calls because they are not reporters. The BPPs don't make or take phone calls from sources other than the White House and the Republican Party, so what's to worry?
They are perfectly happy with the Bush administration. Everything has been going their way since they signed up with the Republicans during the Clinton administration. They are getting rich, they are having parties, they are "writing" books, they are getting famous and, most of all, like the Clown Colossus they worship, they stand bestride the world, making history that mere mortals will write about.
I'd take this Gore anyday.
Posted by idiosynchronic at May 15, 2006 01:24 PMI watched Man of La Mancha yesterday for the first time and all his idealism and bravery was inspiring and actually made me cry.
One of the videos on that link to DKos from Steve Soto's yesterday post showed Al Gore saying he'd been disillusioned with politics early on and thought it'd be the last thing he'd do.....then later that it was the thing to do. I hope all the demoralizing crap he had to put up with in 2000 didn't put the kibosh on his ideals and he will again jump into the fray. My God, I think, who better?
He has the "quality" of Don Quixote while King George has the "madness".
Scratch that last part, DQ's madness wasn't in any way evil.
Sorry, it was Mary's post yesterday, not Steve's. It was the update part.
Posted by Sharon at May 15, 2006 03:31 PMsnark, My best to you and your family!
My sister's son is still a gun-ho Marine who has been there a couple of times. I have a another nephew on my wife's side there and a brother in law there with Blackwater.
Air traffic controller should be a relatively safe position (you'd think).
I suprised they didn't try to catch on with Conoco out in Ponca City.
Sharon, Man of La Mancha was and is one of my favorites. Yes, it will make you cry, especially now with the world in such turmoil and one needs desperately to believe in something.
Posted by Judith at May 15, 2006 07:00 PMDoc Twain would endorse a Gore Ticket--
especially if Al supported the National Health Insurance Program (HIP)
