Comments: Jefferson on the take

Hadn't seen FDL post on this before my comment in the open thread. But I guess the "cold hard cash" thing pretty much writes itself.

Didn't the guy just go on tv last week to proclaim his innocence? Just goes to show ya, scum floats to both sides of the pond.

Hang that idiot twice; once for being a fucking criminal, and another for giving Rove the perfect opening to push his "see, dems are corrupt, too" meme. I have no doubt he sent minions one after another to the dems looking for someone who'd take the bait. Just watch the wingnuts explode in a frenzy of "rule of law!! Ethics!!"

Best the Dems come down hard and fast on this one. Not a time to linger and give Rep's a chance to make hay. Jefferson needs to pack his bags today!

The best thing the Dems can do is go after this guy hard, clean our own house in a visable and efficient manner. This will contrast nicely on how dems and pubs handle corruption in their own houses.

That said, nailing corrupt politicos in La is like shooting fish in a barrel. Residents in the dead pelican state celebrate their corrupt leaders by naming bridges after them. The cops make third world police officers look like boy scouts.

Its sad to see the devastation wrought on my neighbors to the east, but what is sadder is knowing how little federal aid will trickle down to those in actual need.

What a fantastic opportunity for Republicans to show their even-handedness and completely ignore this payola scandal too!

Heck, it would make a great campaign slogan for Pubs in '06-- "Just Ignore It."

Well, knowing how hypocritical the GOP is, they will be calling for Jefferson's head very shortly.

I agree. End his career today and move on. Don't give the Republicans a chance to use this against us.

Jefferson: "Movin' on up, to the East side, to that big Supermax in the sky-yi."

I just heard Bush live from Chicago state that we must continue the tradition of the melting pot in order to have a country "under god".

As an agnostic, I guess I'm not one of the meltees.(lump in throat, tear running down cheek)

I've had a bad feeling about Jefferson ever since he had the Guard take him back to his house after Katrina.

FROM WWW.MACYAPPER.COM

*"(AP) ALEXANDRIA, Va.A congressman under investigation for bribery was caught on videotape accepting $100,000 in $100 bills from an FBI informant whose conversations with the lawmaker also were recorded, according to a court document released Sunday. Agents later found the cash hidden in his freezer."

*It's all about the cold hard cash.

"At one audiotaped meeting, Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., chuckles about writing in code to keep secret what the government contends was his corrupt role in getting his children a cut of a communications company's deal for work in Africa."

*When greed is outweighed by arrogance and stupidity... that's when you find an American Congressman.
God bless the USA.

"All but $10,000 was recovered on Aug. 3 when the FBI searched Jefferson's home in Washington. The money was stuffed in his freezer, wrapped in $10,000 packs and concealed in food containers and aluminum foil."

*Nobody will EVER find it in the freezer.
Why, it's practically invisible there!
What a douchebag.

Damn! The way out of this is for Jefferson to change parties. He'll be right at home with the republi-cons. I sure as shit hope they don't discover he got a blow-job!
