Why is the US military butchering innocent children in Iraq like food animals?

Frankly, I don't buy the al Qaeda under every bed in Iraq meme the Pentagon wants critics to believe.

There's something depraved about the wanton murder of small children at the hands of US soldiers.

I'm going to forget the warring, torturing, brainwashing govt for a while, and chaperone at my nephew's b-day/pizza party. I was invited so my brother-in-law can go shopping nearby!

This is going to seem like a very small story, but heartening just the same. Yesterday I stopped by my local Tshirt print shop to order some tshirts printed to say: America Needs you then next line to have 2 hands shaking, next line Vote Democrat. The print shop owner was delighted to see these, gave me a big discount and wanted to make one up for himself. The 2 people standing in line behind me ordered more, the Bush rant was on ... one lady said she'd just picked up her son at airport and was amazed how wherever you went people were striking up conversations about how much they hated what Bush had done to America ... I brought in my extra copies of How Would A Patriot Act and they all handed me cash to get a copy. Went to my local feed store to get dog food, owner said he discontinued feed made in Texas cause he didn't want to help out Bush's state ... stopped to help a family in the rain fixing a tire on the way home, the husband said, you must be a Democrat because you cared enough to help out people ... it was quite a day and a personal accounting of just how pissed off everyday people are.

mainsailset - great story, thanks. I'm seeing the same thing all over here, too. It does lift your spirits, doesn't it?

Iamcoyote: I get the feeling we both live in Washington St.?

Posted by mainsailset at June 3, 2006 09:10 AM

We sure do, mainsailset, as does Anjha, and I believe Mary's a PacNorwester, as well.

and my ears weren't even a burnin!

Mainselset, your story was lovely!

I hope to ring doorbells this weekend, if I get my shit together.

I walked off with several of the Dem doorhangers last month. (Just like I stole yard signs off the wall at a rally...I am such a turkey.)

I asked permission to steal the signs from some one who looked official enough. He secretely pulled them off the wall behind his back.

The door hangers I just kept, cause I knew that I would be doing with them what they wanted done with them, just in my own neighborhood.

I am excited to ring doorbells - there is so much to encourage people to get involved in.

No one has a fucking clue about civics anymore. They do not understand that we own this Government. It is ours.

That so many people do not understand why the Rayburn Raid is a horrific separation of powers issue is proof positive.

If you have not yet read the testimonies at the House Hearing on the raid, I highly recommend it.

Enjoy your Saturday - the weather is lovely.

Posted by PABLO at June 3, 2006 11:00 AM

p.s. pandle state= a frying pan full of bullshit

Posted by PABLO at June 3, 2006 11:03 AM

Christopher - Also, what is it doing to the "hearts and minds" of the American soldiers and their families and what kind of effect will it have on society when they return? The idealogues behind this disgusting shit should each be consigned their own special lamppost.

Mal was born in Texas and has family there. I haven't returned to visit that half-assed place in twenty-six years. Don't intend to, either. My intelligent kin in Texas despise Bush; the rich kin, bankers, ranchers and retired Halliburton types, love him.

Look forward to President Jeb before Rove gives up.

Pablo, I don't know about the Southland Corporation, but if you want to boycott Texas avoid the Dixie Chicks, and all Austin-based bands; don't see any movies with Sissy Spacek or Tommy Lee Jones (have to skip the Prairie Home Companion movie); stop reading Molly Ivins or UT-Austin prof Robert Jenson; avoid Southwest, Continental and American Airlines, as well as Texas Instruments, Whataburger, and most oil companies (switch to Iowa-produced ethanol), or ride your bike. Stay away from Tex-Mex restaurants too, just out of principle. If you really want nothing to do with Texas because it gave us Bushco then you really should at it with some commitment, no?

Boycott Lightnin Hopkins, Steve Miller, Albert Collins, Freddie King, Janis Joplin, Steve Earle, Don Henley. Yeah, theres also alotta cool stuff from Texas too. The fact is, most Americans wanna think the best of people, and have pretty much proven that they'll buy freeze-dried feces if the advertising budget is big enough.

Posted by jondee at June 3, 2006 02:09 PM

Well Jondee, who said "no one ever lost money by under estimating the intelligence of the American public?" "Freeze-dried feces?" Now that made me laugh out loud.

Posted by Judith at June 3, 2006 09:21 PM

They sell "moosequitoes" in the Anchorage, Alaska airport gift shop. It ah, could be a fecal remnant. It's no big deal.
