Comments: Blogging at YearlyKos: Day 2

I like Wilson too, he should sue Novak for outing Val. Watch for pickpockets and neocons.

On the topic of science (and I think a little fascism might apply here as well): NASA cancels satellites that are crucial to monitoring Earth climate

Very cool.

I like Joe Wilson. I admire him.

Can't wait to read Valerie's tell-all when it is published. These fine Americans have been to hell's door and back again courtesy of "the little fascists."

Mary, could you give me a brief description of YearlyKos. I'm not sure exactly what it is and the purpose of the event. Is it open to everyone, and does the media attend? Thanks.

Posted by Judith at June 10, 2006 04:48 AM

Judith, here's a link to Yearly Kos. I'm still kicking myself hard for not going.

Getting to meet Mary has been terrific. She doesn't need to be told how to engage anything. She jumps right in there and gets into the mix. It's been a pleasure to get an opportunity to chat with her.

I believe Larry Johnson also said "his neighbor" refered to Cheney as always having been a "major league political hack". he he.

Biggest disappointment. Not getting to meet Steve Soto. Maybe next year?

Judith, YearlyKos is a conference that was arranged by a number of the DailyKos community to provide a forum for activists to come together and see how we could apply the energy of the netroots to making the changes we need in our country. As the about page says:

Many people look to the blogosphere to learn about important events and issues, and YearlyKos will amplify that learning process with these panel discussions and other activities.

This conference is open to everyone and this year's successful conference guarantees that we will have another one next year. Along with the big name bloggers, there are a lot of people who are readers/lurkers on the blogs as well here. It is a great cross-section of America. I hope that more of us can attend next year and would also love to have Steve here too. Let's get a big TLC contingent to go together.

I'm really interested in the science stuff, too, and Boxer. And I'm kicking myself for missing it; next year, I'm going. Joe Wilson and Larry Johnson were great, and I think CSPAN and CSPAN2 are doing some coverage on it.

Posted by iamcoyote at June 10, 2006 07:57 AM

The Lakoff panel is on CSPAN this morning at 9am. That should be interesting.

Posted by iamcoyote at June 10, 2006 08:07 AM

George W. Bush is on stage. Or at least a close facimile. Very funny.

Coyote, I'll be at the Lakoff panel. I think.

Wave at the camera, big guy! The Bush impersonator was funny! Oh what fun!

Posted by iamcoyote at June 10, 2006 08:17 AM

Did this guy just say Markos will be on Meet the Press?

Posted by iamcoyote at June 10, 2006 08:18 AM

yes, he did. Markos is quite good on TV so this should be great.

Posted by Mary at June 10, 2006 08:22 AM

Markos certainly is great on tv, he'll do well.

Go Dean! Man, I'm liking him better every day.

Posted by iamcoyote at June 10, 2006 08:28 AM

Mary, where are you?

Howard Dean just said "trolls"! LOL!

Posted by snark at June 10, 2006 08:30 AM

I loved the troll comment, because it shows he reads and understands the blogs.

Posted by iamcoyote at June 10, 2006 08:33 AM

Hooray!!! I want my country back!! Tell him we're watching at home, snark and Mary. Great speech!

Posted by iamcoyote at June 10, 2006 08:43 AM

Mary,

Thanks for the nice dispatches :-)

Thanks Mary and Ann. I'll be there next year.

Mary, if you haven't already, read "Day of the Locusts" by Jane Hamsher about the yearlyKos event. Too funny. You will particularly like this:

They may think of themselves as rebels, separate from mainstream politics and media. But by the end of a day on which the convention halls were shoulder to shoulder with bloggers, Democratic operatives, candidates and Washington reporters, it seemed that bloggers were well on the way to becoming — dare we say it? — part of the American political establishment. Indeed, the convention, the first of what organizers said would become an annual event, seems on the way to becoming as much a part of the Democratic political circuit as the Iowa State Fair.
