Comments: Hypocrite-In-Chief Wants Another Crack At Privatization - So Does McCain

Good. I hope Bush&Co. go after SS again. The sound you will hear will be the death rattle as the Republicans bit the dust.

Judith,
He will go after SS next Fall, and the next year and the next year. He never loses, just changes the rules to extend the game. If he is president a third term and a fourth, he'll go after SS every year.

hmmm Ben Nelson.... what Joe Lieberman wasn't available?

It's amazing to me that 35 Dems. would be anxious to give W. the line item veto. Can you imagine the lines he would veto and the ones he wouldn’t?

Very, very scary!

Please tell me you're joking. Why would anyone want to give BushCo any more power?

Posted by ann at June 27, 2006 07:21 PM

Because the Dems want the line item veto also and the fully intend on having the presidency back again.

Now if we could only get them to start acting like it.

If the Dems get in power again, I'd certainly want them to have it. But as it is now...

Bush: [Y]ou can't call for fiscal discipline on the one hand, and then not pass a tool to enhance fiscal discipline on the other hand. You can't have it both ways, it seems like to me.

Democrats: We don't need to amend the Constitution to balance the budget. Hell, we proved that just a few years ago.

Yeah T2, that's what his Mommy says too. Babs should be so proud of her skills in parenting. She raised such a wonderful son.

Social Security reform was not popular when Bush's numbers were high. Every Democrat running for office in November should make damn sure this issue is front and center, and remind people that the Republicans will try again to take their SS away from them. Let's use fear like Bush does.

Posted by Judith at June 27, 2006 11:45 PM

Judith,

Those damn beltway consultants will say that "people remember last year" and urge their candidates not to talk about Social Security at all in the campaign. The result? It will be about as good as Kerry's advisors telling him to ignore the swiftboat attacks. The 60 cities in 60 days part II tour will happen next year.

Right Fools is so correct. Why would the Democrats trust Bush with any more fiscal power than he is already exercising. And, of course, the line items he would veto would be the social safety net programs, and of course, the REpublican controlled congress would NEVER override the veto. The Democrats who supported this are complete fools! I wonder why I keep supporting them.

Why did that snake from Goldman-Sachs give up a zillion dollar salary, and slither into the White House if it didn't smell billions in private stock commissions?
