I would like to really know what Condi is sexually. Lesbian, I have read. Playing with W, it has been speculated. I mean, by any standards she is a desirable sexual animal. What exactly is going on with her?
Posted by howard huges blues at July 24, 2006 09:27 PMIt never fails to amaze me that so many prominent Christians seem to be so focused on the Old Testament and almost ignorant of the New. Their Christianity is almost a mirror image of the one I've tried to live for more than 60 years.
Posted by Brian Boru at July 24, 2006 10:05 PMThe neocons and right wingers are running out of targets to smear. These are desperate times for them.
A word about Bush being a 'virtual puppet of Wall Street.' First, there are two Wall Streets, though they are frequently intermingled. One Wall Street makes money by being competent at what it does; this Wall Street doesn't need special deals from the government as long as the playing field is even. The other Wall Street makes money by wheeling and dealing and cutthroat deals in the back rooms; it looks for an edge that often has little to do with competence; sweetheart deals from the government are considered plums. Second, Bush buys into the nonsense of the second Wall Street lock, stock and barrel; he doesn't have to be a puppet. He is, by nature, a dirty player. I grew up in Orange County, Ca and met older business people like George W. Bush. Winning, whatever that means, is the only thing that matters to them. The ones I knew had no interest in religion but it's possible that in Texas cutthroat wheeler dealers are expected to be religious whether they really are or not (think of Florence during the Renaissance when the ruling families weren't shy of slitting each other's throats while attending church and bowing to the Pope).
The failure of the Bush presidency, particularly in foreign policy, is becoming obvious to anyone who wishes to pay attention. Even if Bush doesn't 'will' it, we could easily slip into a third war we cannot afford. These are dangerous times but I sense a number of people pushing back from a number of directions. Whether they're conservatives, moderates or liberals pushing back against the Bush cabal (what else can one call it?), they need support in places like this. We can sort our differences later (I'm a liberal but if the dam is cracking and you have a pick-up and there are people in the bottom of the canyon having trouble getting out, I don't care what your politics are if we can get work together getting some people out in time as my conservative Republican grandfather did in 1939).
And although I know people who have written their share of letters, people need to write their representatives yet again. I realize it's easy to be cynical but none of us these days can afford it.
Posted by Craig at July 24, 2006 11:14 PMI agree with anyone who thinks he is far to soft on terrorists and crazies. As was clinton. When will they figure out that those folks don't hold their end of deals? when will they figure out that they can't deal with them diplomaticly? that would be akin to rehabing Manson or Bundy. You can't talk or deal with folks who are very prepared to die for their cause, there is one thinbg you can do though, you can help them achieve their goal. He should shut up if he isn't prepared to put up. Heavy Kim called his bluff and he didn't act. Iran and Syria need tending too also. I hope Isreal does it for us.

Posted by at July 25, 2006 05:31 AMIt's yet another sign of our great national decline and essential lunacy that now an extremely large number (35% plus) of "citizens" believe that the problem with the murderous Cheney/von Rumsfeld administration is that it is not "conservative" (i.e. brutal, ideological, authoritarian and bellicose) ENOUGH.
And that Nero's supposed "step back" to "moderation" is the cause of all the difficulties.
This sort of illogical, emotional, reckless, immoral and foolish "thinking" is the result of millions upon millions of corporate dollars funding "conservative" think tanks which position their "scholars" on every news program, the destruction of the Fairness Doctrine by Ronnie in the mid eighties (which allowed the creation of Rush and the Foxes), and the unregulated concentration of press/media interests into limited multinational hands.
All these gross errors have their natural consequences, and we cannot be returned to "normal" by anything as simple as an election; the wealthy shits and wild-eyed ideologues worked tirelessly to create these millions of new Monster Citizens, and they will now use them to continue their War against the Constitution and our democratic republic.
"Conservatism" has placed the world in peril, and broken our system of government beyond repair.
Posted by euzoius at July 25, 2006 05:39 AM"you can't talk or deal with folks who are prepared to die for their cause".
jsull, what do you think "their cause" is? What are they dying for, in your view?
Posted by euzoius at July 25, 2006 05:44 AMThe answer is simple.
Nothing short of total war will satisfy any of Bushes critics from the right but no one has the stomach for what total war would entail. And I'm not even talking nukes. Just conventional warfare.
That and it would be a miserable failure.
Posted by snark at July 25, 2006 06:15 AMYou can't talk or deal with folks who are very prepared to die for their cause,...
You think Kim Jong Il is prepared to 'die for his cause' any more than George Bush is? Or the Iranian mullahs?
...there is one thinbg you can do though, you can help them achieve their goal.
Surely you confuse means with goal. Hence the limit to your ability to contribute productively to a discussion of the issues here. It's a condition that afflicts many of your ilk.
He should shut up if he isn't prepared to put up.
George Bush 'putting up' at this point would pretty much require a national draft for military service unless he plans on 'putting up' a bunch of ICBM's. As an advocate of 'putting up' I'd expect you'd be rushing out to enlist. Do you need directions to the local armed forces recruitment station? Lead by example I always say. Or you can take your own advice to Bush and...you know.
Posted by snark at July 25, 2006 06:29 AMBuckley calling anyone else's words "indecipherable," now that's funny!
So the terrorists never hold up their end of the deal? Just like we did when the Palestinians duly and legally elected government was shunned by the West because it was Hamas? But legitimately chosen?
"Fuck it, just kill 'em all" is a losers response because it's too hard, too much work, to find a solution, so they quit. And we should respect and follow that?
Losers and quitters, yeah, that's the republican party of today, lazy ass cowards all to willing to let somebody else die in their place.
Posted by Duckman GR at July 25, 2006 06:55 AMbu$$h timid and confused? How about arrogant and insane. If he wants to meet Jesus with his pals Hagee and Falwell, they can do that on their own, without dragging all of us into WWIII and attempting to bring about Armageddon. Isn't there something in the Bible about not killing, loving, forgiveness, and helping your brothers and sisters. Not sure where the murdering of God's children fits in, but this IS BushWorld.

Holy fucking jesus christ! Buy some fucking glasses or something. The only way any human man could do it with that skank would be in a steamy shower playing "Gorillas in the Mist". Yeeeuch, I feel dirty! Someone hold me.
You've adequately described the human condition, that all men fail to meet the standard of righteousness put forth in the Sermon on the Mount.
Read Matthew. Your failure to understand distributive justice...and most certainly you don't understand retributive justice...condemns you to hell regardless of what you think your jesus is going to do for you. You only think you're saved. You are not. Jesus will turn his back on you and you won't understand why. I bet you take your children with you!

I gave up on "people" when 59 million of them voted for an idiot, so it should not come as a shock that one of them thinks Conartista is a doll. She makes Rosey Palm look like Marilyn Monroe.
Posted by TIKI AL at July 25, 2006 10:38 AMI gave up on "people" when 59 million of them voted for an idiot,

That's only if you believe as gospel truth those who COUNTED the votes. I mean, what incentive would anyone have had to lie?
Posted by oppressmenot at July 25, 2006 10:42 AMOK, I gave up on people when I saw my first "Bush-Cheny" bumper sticker.(They are rare these days, you only see gummy spots left over from desperate removal procedures.)
Posted by TIKI AL at July 25, 2006 10:59 AMJust for the record, the final tally was:
Bush 62 million
Kerry 59 million
Six million more votes, mostly absentee and provisional ballots, were counted in the two weeks after the election.
Posted by Craig at July 25, 2006 01:14 PMLike I said, 59 million voted for an idiot.
Windsurfing photo-ops and not kicking the swiftboaters ass qualifies as idiotic behavior.
Posted by TIKI AL at July 25, 2006 02:00 PMPhidipides, you gotta admit she has a great body for her age. great swimmer, piano player, etc. Maybe not your cuppa tea, but all I'm saying is---is she a lesbian, yes or no. Also is she doing something--conceivably something quite kinky---with the Prez. Yes or no. I know somebody has the answer. Why must it be such a secret?
