The only thing Bush et al KNOW how to do is fuck things up, and steal elections....and start wars too.
I'm taking the bus to school, and at this point it's the same type crowd as before I started driving a car: lower income, less educated (judging the books by their covers, of course). Why isn't anyone talking about a new public transport system that would put alot of people to work building it and killing the stigma of traveling that way?
Posted by Sharon at July 26, 2006 05:20 AMSharon, public transport would reduce our dependency on foreign oil - something the Busheviks and Saudis would not want. So it won't happen.
Posted by Cookie Monster at July 26, 2006 05:46 AMSharon, take a guess at the level of upgrade we could've had in public transportation (including nation-wide rail travel) for the, oh, $400 BILLION that Bush's Iraq War has cost us (so far), or the $1 TRILLION that Bush's War is now projected ultimately to cost us (assuming our treasury doesn't actually fail)?
Not to mention the absurd 500 billion that he and militarist Republicans idiotically flush down the toilet every year for our "Defense" budget.
Our insane militarism has grossly compromised and damaged our future.
What would happen if the Dems all started saying Nero was reckless in rushing into his poorly planned, unnecessary, ruinous war, and has cost us our chance to upgrade public transportation as an irreversible, long envisioned energy crisis hits us?
And that the Criminal Republican Party was screaming its support for Nero's disastrous bad judgement every step of the way, declaring Democratic doubters to be traitorous dogs and pigs that should be strung up after torturing them?
I suppose that would be characterized as too shrill, and voters would conclude they simply had to stay with the strong daddy Republicans for their own "safety".

you hit the nail right on the head...luv it.
You must have been reading my mind!
For the last three years my employer, a large and successful law firm, has told me that I've reached their "salary cap." I have attended "some college" at JC and university levels probably equal to an associate's degree. Last January I was one of the lucky ones who got a 1% raise over last year's salary, which has resulted in the application of my own "give-a-crap cap." The ullage on my give-a-crap cap is directly proportionate to the firm's salary cap. I think of it as a governor - like auto makers used to put on car engines so they wouldn't over rev. Thanks for the ride sharing link. That's the ticket! (:>
Posted by Donald Cormac at July 26, 2006 07:56 AMTake the easy out by blaming someone else for your pathetic life,
Exactly as jesus would do! Damn, you've got him warped to be just like you! I like the new breed of christian. Aspire to remake jesus in your own image rather than aspire to be like the jesus of the bible. Ain't you a peach. You fucks always take the easy way out by blaming someone for your persecution when you are really just persecuting yourself. You know, like persecution masturbation: persecubation. Keep slapping your mental willy, jackoff.
Finally wonder why your woebegone wailing hasn't brought about any cure for your miserable condition.
Diebold. The next time we are carrying faggots and pitchforks. Please be one of the republi-con goons intimidating voters this election. I want to show you your teeth.
For the last three years my employer, a large and successful law firm, has told me that I've reached their "salary cap."
I'm at the same wage I was 5 years ago...no raises. To make more I have to work more, exponentially more, and then lose half of it to taxes. Thanks, republi-con fucks!

Holy shit, someone inform Dobson this can not continue!
Bush's lack of acknowledgement. Keeps hitting me that with the gas prices up, Bush nor States have offered up decreasing the speed limits on Fwy's (signs of 65 mph must be gathering dust somewhere); no discussions of mass transit ideas for the ballot this Fall; no challenges to our universities to brainstorm energy ideas, energy companies with the sickening profits aren't offering up (as a good Bushs private sector is supposed to ) any more R&D. I guess as long as Bush doesn't acknowledge-and he is the leader here-then all the impacts us little folks are feeling are invisible.
Posted by mainsailset at July 26, 2006 09:34 AMAs long as we have a governemnt run by oil barrons, no serious work will be done on alternitive energy.
When I think back to the fall of 2000 and I warned any one that would listen that putting two oil men in charge of the government wasn;t a good idea people would laugh and say "who do you think already runs things" lol.
I don't hear a lot of laughter anywhere, anymore. : (
Posted by herbal tee at July 26, 2006 10:15 AMI've reduced my fuel costs to near zero. It is called a bike. I commute 20 miles round trip into Seattle each day and only put gas in my car about once every month.
Big caveat - Krispy Kreme refused to serve me in their drive-thru. I love a good donut, but that gave me attitude sickness. If in Seattle, try Top Pot Donuts! http://www.toppotdoughnuts.com/

The Irish economy was like this for generations, until very recently, but they had the safety valve of emigration.
I'm at the same wage I was 5 years ago...no raises.
Calculating increased state and local taxes, and health insurance increases, I haven't had a real, constant-dollar wage increase in 12 years. And I'm a unionized, public-sector worker.
God help the rest of us.
Posted by Davis X. Machina at July 26, 2006 10:24 AMBig caveat - Krispy Kreme refused to serve me in their drive-thru [on bicycle].
Kid you not - most chain resaturants now have a strict autos-only policy for drive-up service. I've done that for the last 15 years, but resturants have recently refused service the last couple years. I've heard 'liability' invoked.

No cup holders?
Hey, I have an idea! Why doesn't someone get on the phone and tell Kofi to tell Syria to stop this shit? Seems simple enough.

In addition, "real customers" are difficult to hear over the speaker due to the approaching noise generated by the playing cards in your spokes.
Posted by TIKI AL at July 26, 2006 01:34 PMBush is a great people person; we'll have to car pool, walk...we'll get healthier, and men and women will meet and couple up. People will barter goods for goods. Soon, no money, no food, but more socialization. No TV. No movies. No solitary evenings in front of the PC or laptop; all these goodies thrive on electicity and money. When that is gone, like next year, all we'll have is each other, thus, no more loneliness!
Plenty of sex though, and plenty of babies. Dogs and cats will become the new food....thanks Butch!
