An important point (at least in my view) to add to Stoller's about Clintonites.

The Clintons and the people who worked for them in both administrations had the same divided loyalties while they were in office. To most of them, being in office was all about their careers, their social/economic status. It was most emphatically not about the economic life of working families, justice for minorities, the environment, etc. Those were simply interest groups whose allegiance and support were necessary to gain and hold power.

They and their way of doing things, the so-called "Third Way," was just like "compassionate conservative." It was the bullshit they threw around because it helped them win office.

They and their way of doing things has to be rejected in order for the Democratic Party to regain real majority status.

This is going to take time and, I am afraid, a major economic disaster to provide the white working class with enough incentive to overcome its persistent racism and nativism.

On the "GOP nonsense in Colorado":

Duncan Bremer, who is running for Joel Helfley's 5th District seat is the brother of Paul Bremer.
