Comments: NYT Runs Another Decent Hillary Piece Today

Hillary was two classes behind me at Wellesley. I didn't know her but I am intimately familiar with the type. She has no beliefs of her own and will do what is required to win, which she will study out diligently. Having been a good representative of the R wing of the D Party, she is now in the process of learning that the sands are shifting and she's diligently (deliberate repetition of that word) studying how to shift just after the fact. She has no moral underpinnings, but she's damned good at what she's decided to do.

As for heer press coverage, if she takes a decisive lead again, they'll revert to all the mysogyny of the past.

can you say Carpet Baggers ????

I still don't trust anyone in the media trying to influence public opinion in favor of Hillary, especially when they have been negative in the past. Remember, there is a reason the GOP want her to run. Furthermore, who controls the GOP?
Putting my tinfoil hat on, could they want her to run because she will be defeated, assuring a Republican President? Or, do they think she could possibly win, and the deal with the devil has already been made? I no longer trust the Clintons. Did that make any sense?

politics is like an eight minute dating orgy these days, maybe always, poll driven, with money at the helm. most don't feel the need to know who's hand is up the the puppet, those that do can't deal with the karma . we've see what the bush dynasty has to offer. why would we think a clinton dynasty holds promise, they're smarter, better looking ? public option is a commodity, the basis for how they get payed, not a mandate. what little we get, drops off by accident. does it serve them to serve you, "if you've aint got the dough ray me boy" ? ( good old Woody !!) , shame shame shame ..... one and all !! (myself included)

Posted by mark miller at August 5, 2006 03:22 PM

sure it makes sense but i couldn't afford to keep my truck on the road .... so i'll just have to stand here while the "sea termites" eat the support pilings away from the bridge. i'll be the one waving the flag .... currrr plunk !

No amount of Hillary epiphanies by the Times will persuade me to forgive her for the Satanic act of empowering a chimp to wage war on Iran's archenemy for no reason.

And since her hubby went to bat for Joe Liebfraumilch, he's off my list too.

Besides, Hillary is more valuable in the Senate.

Posted by TIKI AL at August 5, 2006 04:01 PM

the clintons are bought and payed for. maybe she could get an ear-mark to build a new bridge to replace this this rusty worm infested bridge i have to travel over ? so passed holding my breath ... i've voted for almost forty years, not one, opps a famaily cort judge, made it to office. jaded yes ... represented no.

Hillary is your 2008 candidate: get used to it.

The Democratic Party is soon to be a historical footnote.

Two strikes Bagley. Too bad you didn't predict a Liberman victory on tuesday. That would make three.

Yer out.

The NYT is the propaganda organ for that part of the corporate ruling class that is currently out of power. Hillary Clinton, like her husband, has been working for that part of the corporate ruling class her entire life.

They worship the same gods; they see the world through the same historical lens. It makes perfect sense that the NYT would align with Hillary Clinton's 'first woman candidate of a major party' program.

For Hillary Clinton, it doesn't matter what it takes for her to get that nomination. It almost doesn't matter whether she wins the White House. What matters is that, win or lose, she is going to make history.

I don't like Hillary's lack of principles or political ideology. She is not some one I would really trust to make the right decisions. But I confess that I am drawn to that part of her that wants to take it as far as it will go and the world be damned, the part of her that wants to take her shot at the championship. I don't like it, I don't think it will make America a better place, but it shines a bright light that puts every other potential Democratic candidate in deep, deep shadows.

yea but we're back to trading with the devil , we've had too much of that

Posted by mark miller at August 5, 2006 05:08 PM

As I've said before, I wrote to Le Hill in the months before the Iraq invasion, pleading with her to vote "NO" on authorizing the Mofo from Midland to go to war. I argued that the results of such an invasion would lead to regional instability and would actually make the USA less safe from radical Islamic terrorists.

To her credit, she replied, but her response was clearly not well thought through and was laced with neocon rhetoric, suggesting a Liddy Dole or (gasp) a Joe Lieberman.

She was implacable: Saddam had to go and she wasn't open to any other view.

I have one word for Missy Clinton: COCKPUNCH!

heerbal tee,

"Two strikes Bagley."

You are supposed to brew (the) tea, not smoke it...

Regards,

Bagley

Posted by Bagley at August 5, 2006 06:22 PM

Don't you just love Bagley's crystal ball that tells him the future Democratic candidate?

Posted by Judith at August 5, 2006 07:29 PM

The Democratic Party is soon to be a historical footnote.

You should see the footnotes you assholes are getting. Single worst administration in American history. Congratulations! You've got to be grossly incompetent to get that record.

I think a ticket of Hillary Clinton and Gavin Newsome would be a sure thing in 2008.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's a riot!

I prefer Gore/Feingold.

Is this the site that had the pic of a statue with the face of jimmy carter and HUGE BREASTS - the statue was being represented as hillary.

It gave me the willies - ugliest thing I ever saw - really made me want to bleach my brain. I don't remember who made the statue nor what it was for, but I remember the ugly look and the subtle message it was sending.

While jimmy c has largely proven himself to be a legitimate statesman - he was treated as a total failure when he was defeated by ronnie reagan. of course never mind the treasonous manner in which the repugs manipulated the hostage crisis and undermined our national instance. It was a coup.

To many American's - jimmy c still represents a bumbling president - the gross caricature that was being represented as hillary, half-man and half women, clearly was designed to make a negative statement about this woman.

Jimmy Carter with huge breasts indeedy...

my choice for 2008 gore/dean..gore/edwards..gore/clark..in that order..having said that should hilary get the nod..she will get my support..the crap about the clintons having no core beliefs is just that crap..they are the ultimate pragmatists..they will do or say anything they have to to get elected..it's how clinton was elected...i think she is as tough as nails..and very very smart..she is not my choice but i think she would make a good president and if they had the house and senate could do some awesome things for the people of this country..look for her to become the anti war candidte if it suits her..ala bobby kennedy after eugene mccarthy led the way..don't write hilary off cause it's the popular thing to do..

Posted by dennis at August 5, 2006 10:56 PM

NO NO NO to 28 years of two family rule. We already have 20 years between the Bush pReidencies and Bill Clinton's. That's enough, thank you very much.

Posted by Judith at August 6, 2006 01:48 AM

While I like Gore and would vote for him, why do I have this nagging feeling that he cannot win? Regardless, no matter who runs, they better have a backbone and a fire in their belly to get the truth out. They better fight back like their life depended upon it. When they are swiftboated, they better fire right back with fury. When lies are circulated, they better address them immediately with anger against those who spread the lies. This election will not be for anyone who is not a gutter fighter. Wusses need not apply.

judith..he already won once

Thank you aCAHNomics.
I have been hitting my head against a brick wall in trying to explain what Hillary Clinton is.
She is empty inside.
She parrots what she reads or is told.
It is ALWAYS all about her.
She has done nothing that matters.
She is a total dependant.
She has no experience of any practical nature.
I am so tired of her attention getting behavior.
She side steps being confronted by any real questions.
I do hope that she loses the election this year.
Maude

hilary is in no danger of losing any election this year..and i disagree she has never done anything..she has been an outstanding senator ..she is an accomplished lawyer..she tried to change health care...she withstood what i would imagine was extreme public humiliation and endured it..in life one must play with what they're dealt or cash out of the game..one can walk away or you can stay and fight..right now i am not for hilary in 08..but i'll say this..she has taken everything that has been dished out and she is still there in the middle of the ring..and for me that is to be admired

Posted by dennis at August 6, 2006 05:45 AM

Hillary, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
Hillary is blowin' in the wind.

Posted by TIKI AL at August 6, 2006 06:28 AM

hilary clinton is a fact of life..her husband despite the stain..was a giant on the world stage..in some ways changed global politics..til 9/11 came and tossed us into the dark ages..bill has advised hilary to stay in the middle as far and as long as she can...bill clinton understood how far ronald reagan moved the country to the right ..and he knew to get back to the left he would have to waltz through the middle...i have been very disappointed in hilary and her response to the war..but in a sense i do understand it...calling for the murderous rummy to resign is a step in the right direction...having said all that i am for gore/dean..but al first has to say he'll run

Posted by dennis at August 6, 2006 07:31 AM

hillary has one chance, she gives us univeral health care or else
if she can win that one against pharma, she deserves our votes
if not, she hasn't done enough to help people in need to deserve it. Problem is, she has to be elected, and the congress has to be blue. a whole lot of really crappy if's to deal with.
