Occasionally a crashed website has more value than an operating one.
Especially when it seems that the FAUX news channel is leading a propaganda blitz that's still shocking in its audacity towards viewer intelligence.
Expect things to get crazier as the day goes on.
Posted by idiosynchronic at August 8, 2006 01:41 PMI used to like Dennis Miller up to 6 years ago!
Now he is nothing but an apologist and excuse maker for this admini$tration!
Wonder who or what Holy Joe will blame tomorrow morning when he's faced with the reality of what having his nose up Bush's rectum has cost him?
Posted by Christopher at August 8, 2006 01:59 PMI missed that part about Dennis Miller. Ack.
Does anyone else think that maybe the FAUX programmers took away the wrong lessons from Jon Stewart's interview and the popularity of the Daily Show and the Colbert Report?
I can just see the meeting ". . hey, why don't we get another blowhard comedian to do a Lewis Black segment for Hannity?"
Posted by idiosynchronic at August 8, 2006 02:06 PMWant to know how far Dennis Miller's career has sunk? Now you know. (Incidently, could this be Joe Lieberman's ultimate fate as well?)
Sad to think old Dennis once was funny. In that case, 9/11 really DID change everything.
Posted by gf120581 at August 8, 2006 02:10 PMNed Lamont's Sgt. Schultz routine is pretty laughable. He knows nothing about anything to do with blogs or netroots or whatever else.
I think he's bullshitting Chris Matthews.

Opinions are like assholes. Everyone's got one.
Posted by snark at August 8, 2006 02:23 PMNed Lamont's Sgt. Schultz routine is pretty laughable. He knows nothing about anything to do with blogs or netroots or whatever else.
I, for one, am going to be really happy if Lieberman loses. I am so tired of him flying-out of the country to have sex with 3 year-old Thai boys...now, Troll-by, aren't unsubstantiated allegations fun?
Even when everyone was saying Dennis Miller was funny, I never understood why. When he started saying how afraid he was after 9-11 I thought he went from unfunny to pathetic and using fear to pander for ratings. I guess it sold well to the red-state maroons.
Posted by phidipides at August 8, 2006 02:24 PMMiller's schtick was stale before 9-11, but the funniest part is, his garbage is way over the heads of Toby-clones. That's why he couldn't do MNF, that's why he's a bust as a pundit. The people he's aiming for are dumber than rocks, they won't get his obscure references, and then they'll think he's making fun of their stupidity, which he probably is, then he'll get the boot once again. He needs to give it up, he's just not funny and now, not even employable.

Oh, I see.
I wasn't accusing Lamont of sabotaging Lieberman's website. It's pretty clear that Lieberman screwed that up on his own.
My observation was that Lamont is acting like he doesn't know anything about the bloggers who support him. He's pretending that he has no influence over or connection with Zuniga or Hamsher or the other big names ---even though he's taking their financial and partisan support and even though they have helped him with his campaign ads.
It's a dishonest way of addressing their participation ---and I have certainly noticed that none of these supporters have questioned why he should be distancing himself from them like he has.
Posted by Toby Petzold at August 8, 2006 02:42 PMHe needs to give it up, he's just not funny and now, not even employable.
Conservatism just isn't funny!
It's a vicious, nasty and hateful world view.
I'll give 'im credit for trying but it'd take a much better natural comedic talent than Miller's got to make anything about the conservative world view even remotely funny.
Posted by snark at August 8, 2006 02:43 PMDang it, Lamont needs to denounce P-dippy immediately for spreading unsubstantiated rumors! Call Fox! Call CNN!
Tubbo, you don't seem to understand. If that's what it takes for Lamont to win, we don't care. It's not about us, it's about HoJo hitting the road.
Posted by iamcoyote at August 8, 2006 02:44 PMit seems to me that one of the more relevant facts about whether the lieberman web site complaint is legitimate or not relates to names cited in a TPM column by justin rood.
rood asks liberman campaign manger, dan gerstein, for evidence that the lieberman web site hadn't just forgotten to pay its bills to its web provider.
manager gerstein sends reporter rood a copy of letter from one "Dan Geary". rood prints it.
later reports are that said dan geary works for a consulting firm tied to the liberman campaign.
sounds to me like we're dealing with an october - no make that november monday - surprise.

You'd be no good at it.

The reason that's a lie is that you're going to be right there among all the other reality-based communitards, taking your part of the credit for empowering the netroots.
Aren't you?

Jealous that you don't have the same influence, aren't you? Awwww.....poor right wing bloggers just aren't as good at connecting the dots as left wing bloggers are.
Posted by at August 8, 2006 02:54 PMFollowing Ned Lamont's victory, I can't wait to see how the pro-war, DINO wing of the party (Le Hill, Biden, et al) try to spin their Iraq war vote.
If the Iraq war can sink a 3-term Democratic senator with deep roots in his home state, Le Hill doesn't have a chance for the brass ring in 2008.
Posted by Christopher at August 8, 2006 02:58 PMDennis Miller was never funny at all. And he stunk on Monday Night Football.
Posted by Paige at August 8, 2006 03:19 PMHow can I be lying about something that hasn't happened yet and a dumbshit like you has predicted?
See, Tubbo, that's why you and the other trolls just don't get it. You're selfish to the core, and you support an adminstration that has taken selfishness to new heights (or more precisely, depths). You identify with that kind of greed, I'm sure, as well as their contempt with anyone "other."
Progressives care about what we can do for our country, not what our country's power and might can do for us. I don't need Lamont's kudos for supporting him. If he wins, I expect him to help the Democrats try to save this country. I hope that vichy dems will use his example to realize that we the people own this joint, not the other way around.
You can't understand that because you can't see beyond your own limited, selfish sphere. That's why you don't mean shit in my scheme of things, and why I don't argue with your ilk. Facts and figures won't make you care about something you will never care about, haven't the capacity to care about; so my only recourse is to ridicule you for being a stupid, selfish, sheeplike follower of stupid, selfish, shepherds leading you to a slaughter that you won't even see coming as you're too busy licking the toes of your executioners. And if someone called you an asshole, I can't disagree. You got some pretty thin skin for a regular shit-thrower.
That said, I don't really think Lamont will win. I hate the thought of it, but the entire GOP machine and his own party is against him. I will be delighted, but I've gotten my hopes up too many times to believe it's gonna happen this time, too.
Posted by iamcoyote at August 8, 2006 03:27 PMsnark: Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one. Even assholes.
phid: I never laughed at Miller before he drank the kool-aid either.
I guess Trollby didn't see the Lamont interview on Tweety today where he thanked the bloggers for getting 125 people to show up at the local pizza joint instead of 25, to get the ball rolling in the first place.

Well, well, well, look who's lecturing us on dishonesty.
Posted by Judith at August 8, 2006 03:39 PMTIKI AL,
That's it in a nutshell.
Today's GOP is petrified by the idea of a genuine grassroots campaign, let alone an honest one, where all the votes are counted and there's a paper record to examine any abnormalities.
CBS just said that Lieberman blames the Lamont people for hacking into Lieberman's website. I am glad to see this f*cker go, because he just exposed what an evil man he is too. No wonder Bush loves him.
Posted by Judith at August 8, 2006 03:53 PM...Lieberman blames the Lamont people for hacking into Lieberman's website.
This gives Lieberman the excuse to fight the election results in court or at least an excuse for why he lost. If he wins, watch him say, no harm, no foul!

Steve, so beautifully and perfectly put.
Posted by Sharkbabe at August 8, 2006 04:53 PMLieberman doing little boys in Thailand...
That, and he appears to be a cheap bastard:
Through the afternoon, Lieberman advisers complained bitterly over the collapse of its Web site, which they blamed on unnamed “political opponents.”
...The advisers (Lieberman) said they had no evidence implicating the Lamont campaign...and could not explain the precise nature of the problem, except to say that the campaign server’s bandwidth had been overwhelmed. Lamont aides...said the problem appeared to be that the campaign did not spend enough money to host a Web site that could handle high traffic.”

Don't look at me when you say that. I called you a CHICKENHAWK unworthy of American citizenship because of your cheerleading for a war you are too cowardly (or is it too fat?) to take part in.
Totally different thing.

That's positively delusional. There's no question that the pro-American blogosphere has wielded far greater influence on public policy than what the Left has managed. You must either be a liar or insane. Probably both.
Why don't you go look at your collection of al-Reuters photographs from Lebanon?
I hear they're fake, but accurate, Dan.

Oh yeah, right! Probably the Lamont campaign that was behind those doctored photos. For sure.
And what did Reuters do when the doctored photos were brought to their attention? They severed all ties with the guy. George Bush would have given him the Presidential Medal of Freedom!
You seem a bit disturbed tonight Toby. Go bury your face in your pillow and have a good cry.

GRINDELWALD, Switzerland - Sometimes, global warming can help put money in your pocket.
Hansruedi Burgener has welcomed up to 800 people a day -- twice the average number of visitors -- to his remote mountain hostel in the Alps this summer.
They all hope to watch a rock the size of two Empire State Buildings collapse onto the canyon floor nearly 700 feet below, as retreating glacier ice robs a cliff face on the eastern edge of the Eiger Mountain of its main support.
Swiss Alps crumbling due to global warming. Doesn't sound too good Toby. Of course, you would say it was no big deal as long as someone can make a buck off it.

I happen to believe that global warming may be an actual phenomenon, Judith. But I don't know for sure.
Remember back in the spring when the various weather services predicted a very active hurricane season this year? Now they've decided they were wrong.
In any event, the Earth keeps on turning.

No you dolt. There was nothing to interpret in your remarks. Just mindless hateful and divisive wingnut blather.
It's rather sad to see you so upset that Bush's favorite Democrat was rejected by Democratic voters.
