The phrase "I'm sorry" has long left apology crumpled up and tossed to the wayside. A standard a I raised my children to is never do something you should apologize for, and don't accept apologies.
Posted by Thomas Ware at September 3, 2006 04:43 AMI'd forgotten that sone and man I listened to it arc over the charts live when it was released. It was horrendously over-played, of course.
I hear it now of course. I think it's a good thing.
Posted by paradox at September 3, 2006 04:51 AMMaybe.

Dennis, yes and yes.
"Why do the American people fall for this ploy so easily that those who don't really mean it when they say that they are sorry get a free pass and another opportunity to violate the public trust?"
Because they are not politically smart enough to understand the nuiances of saying "I'm sorry."
Posted by Judith at September 3, 2006 07:12 AMThis is like the saying sorry means you'll never do it again from Love Story.
Keep an eye on the lies from Bushco to see if they will do a sneaky attack on Iran.
Osama is no longer a suspect in 9/11 according to the Justice Department.
They're running out of enemies.
How do we know which #2 Al-Q this is? Haven't there been a lot of them?
The Iraqis are capable of deciding how they want to go. A major problem is the US gov't trying to tell them what to do. Now, would you listen to the advice of Geo Bush?

It's been heartening in WA state to see the response to Rep candidate Mike McGavick's (running against Cantwell) that he had a DUI in early '90's. He seemed to think it was the honorable thing to do to get it out there but the local newspapers dug out the report and found that his announcement was meant as a stop gap rather than a full confession. Local bloggers have picked up the ball from there to get the whole story out. Horses' Ass held a Drinking Liberally get together to see just how many drinks a 200# man had to injest to match McGavick's record. Long story short, THIS TIME his actions held him accountable to consequences. Since this campaign is one of the 6 targeted by Rove for Rep's to hit hard, the Media and Blogs will be called upon to set the record straight here, no matter how the chips fall. Accountability will be the real key in this election.
Posted by mainsailset at September 3, 2006 07:43 AMDid anyone else happen to notice yesterday that both Syria and Iran agreed to the UN's requests for cooperation and coordination in enforcing the ceasefire in south Lebanon, while our plucky ally Israel explicitly refused the UN's request to cease its "blockade" of Lebanon?
Always willin' to make the neighborhood a better place to live....
Posted by euzoius at September 3, 2006 07:49 AMeuzolus, that's of a piece with genius congressman lantos's idea that hezbollah should be the face of lebanese reconstruction.
Posted by benjoya at September 3, 2006 09:33 AMwhile our plucky ally Israel
As happens in so many families these days, the teenagers tell mom and pop what to do and how to spend the money. It's time to knock the scab Israel away from the American teats.
Posted by phidipides at September 3, 2006 10:36 AMSorry about the double post. Zipping around the net to get the real news...anything outside of the U.S.S.A. and our comrades of the MSM and the grand party supporters of FOX...I found this interesting bit.
At the same time, a coalition of 300 mainly Sunni tribal leaders has demanded the release of Saddam Hussein so that he can reclaim the presidency. They also called for armed resistance against US-led foreign forces.
And Abu Ghraib is totally empty...but what about the Turrists? I wonder how many will get released and vent their pent-up anger on...guess who? I'm sure the little Iraqi boys the American military literally fucked up the ass won't hold a grudge.
Posted by phidipides at September 3, 2006 10:51 AMMaude, this is about the 3rd or 4th number 2 man captured. Let that be an example of how stupid they think you and I are.
Posted by Judith at September 3, 2006 04:53 PMDo you think there is a number 3 man or a number 4 man? Nope. Doesn't sound as impressive as number 2 man. How about capturing number 1 man?
Posted by Judith at September 3, 2006 04:55 PMThey call him #2 cause after the cuffs are on, that's what he's in a world of.
