Comments: Iraq Turns To Iran For Security Help

Steve, I am so amazed that Shrubco hasn't the slighest idea what's happened...they did all of the heavy lifting to open the way for the Shia Crescent across the Middle East; they helped unveil the mystique of the IDF; and, set the stage fomenting the Sunni/Shia divide without knowing previously of its existence .....unbelievable!!

Caution: The only thing they're good at is stealing elections!!

So if I cock my head just right I can mumble, Things are so bad that Iraq must look to its historical enemy for intervention against a civil war the US brought to its shores. Does this not illustrate the sheer desperation of a leader to try anything to save his country?

Ahhh. i think Iraq needs someone for security, considering that Anbar has fallen to Al Qaeda.

Replying to pessimist:

Start reading. Use your back command to return to this page for the next thread.

Okay. I did that. So? It appears to be a slow couple of days.

It may just be a coincidence, but my not allowing comments appears to be having a positive effect, especially on the conduct of commenters on the other threads.

I don't think the trolls have magically evaporated. Maybe a brief squelching of some commenters occurred, and just maybe those commentors tended to focus on your posts. I don't know. But it appears that your sample is a bit too limited to start congratulating yourself at this early time for having made this blog a saner more quiet place to post.

And I really have to question your use of blog space to blow your own horn when there are pressing political issues that could have been addressed in that valuable space. I am sure there is a blog incorporating many 12-step programs where people can be self-congratulatory for the good deeds they perceive they have committed. You should google for those. Those people might appreciate your inflated sense of self-importance in your quest to rid the world of trolls as the self-annointed controller of comments. Or, you could get back to what you do best on this blog and stop this ridiculous nonsense. You are starting to make an ass of yourself.

What we see here is simply another stone in the wall of deception. This deception is merely to construct the bridge toward the conquest of Iran. Do you see?

This comment is simply a cobblestone in the path to insanity.

dj, what do you mean?

I mean you're not well:

# A few clowns short of a circus
# The wheel is spinning, but the hamster's dead
# Got a screw loose
# Nutty as a fruit cake
# Bats in the belfry
# Out to Lunch
# Loopy
# Mad as a hatter
# Lost your marbles
# Basket case
# Not firing on all cylinders
# Haven't got both hands on the steering wheel
# Haven't got both oars in the water
# A few bricks short of a load
# Not playing with a full deck
# A can short of a six-pack
# A few french fries short of a happy meal
# Not the sharpest tool in the shed
# A few shingles missing from the roof
# A screw loose
# Driving on only three wheels
# Knitting with only one needle
# The elevator doesn't go all the way to the top
# The lights are on (the door is open) but there's no one at home

And so on.

So Iran and Iraq are forming an alliance, or axis if you will, of some sort.

In order to stay on topic: I think that Iraq is looking for any friends at this point! It makes sense because the Iranians will help the Iraqi shia win the civil war against the Sunni.

OT,

dj, are you the coyote whore's alter? bitch

I can see that this will persuade pessimist to put his comments back up. Good job scout.

We have lost this War or occupation, don't have enough military to complete it (whatever that means), have no plan in general, and no plan on withdrawal. WTF are we doing there? Oh, and how do we keep 13 military installations under our control in a hostile environment? The "Pottery Barn" rule doesn't seem to be working.

Posted by Judith at September 13, 2006 04:32 AM

Gosh, Iran helping Iraq? We sure didn't see that one coming. Oh wait, yes we did! And weren't the bushies only recently accusing Iran of supplying the insurgents with IEDs? I guess al-Maliki's an insurgent now. Good going, bushco.

Posted by iamcoyote at September 13, 2006 05:36 AM

Team Nero has for some time been loudly accusing Iran of formenting instability in Iraq, as though a hot civil war on Iran's border would be of some great benefit to them.

Publically pledging to aid Maliki in security matters doesn't seem like bellicose behavior to me, and is precisely what a concerned neighboring country would do.

Of course it shows that Iran's "influence" in Iraq politics has grown---how could it not, if the idea was that Iraq would be transformed from an Iranian-hating dictatorship to a "democracy" where 60% of the voting population is shi'a?

Iraqi shi'ites aren't naturally going to despise the largest shi'a country on earth.

Who knows if it's a "good" thing---but it is a completely understandable, predictable thing, that is unless you're a deluded Deadeye Dick, Richard Perle or Bill Kristol. Or mildly retarded, like Nero jr.

Posted by euzoius at September 13, 2006 05:56 AM

What I loved about this was Tony Snow's response - "Iraq is a nation, it can visit other nations, so what". Somehow, I can't believe Rove let this happen. Now, if he did, there is a political motive somewhere in the shadows. If he didn't.......some steam will be coming out of someone's ears.....I wouldn't think Cheney would OK this visit, but would Rice?? I'd guess there will be a meeting on this just as soon as George wakes up and finishes his breakfast.

Posted by T2 at September 13, 2006 06:32 AM

I just read that an estimated 18,000 new terrorists have been created since the beginning of the War, and recruitment is climbing daily. Thanks George. I guess that little war on terror is getting a little out of control.

Anbar has fallen to Al Qaeda.

due no doubt to the iranian shi'ites who, despite being the only ones on earth glad that we invaded iraq, cross iraq' eastern border, travel the width of the country, disguise themselves as wahabbis, join the sunni insurgency and create violence in al anbar. yeah, it's the iranians making up the 5% of insurgents that aren't iraqi.

do we still say "insurgents" and "insurgency"? or is it just saddamist death squads versus shi'ite death squads?

Gosh, you liberal naysayers! Just think of it as the Sharks and the Jets, and it won't seem so bad.

Posted by iamcoyote at September 13, 2006 08:40 AM

The idea that Iraq's government might cozy up to Iran spells an exit strategy for us...but it also brings to mind the comment John Kerry made at the end of the Vietnam war: How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?
