Laugh for a Thursday morning. Al Qaeda better hurry up before the Aliens get here first.

Dancing With The Idiots

by digby

I just heard Tucker Carlson casually say that he told his "lesbian leftist friend" (probably Rachel Maddow), "when al Qaeda takes over you'll be the first one hung up by your thumbs."

I would really love to hear by what scenario these piddling chickenhawks see al Qaeda "taking over" the United States of America. Super secret laser beams from Mars? How?

What children these people are.

"The greatest jihad is to speak the truth to tyrants."

-- The Koran

Its funny that we are forcing our values on the Islamofascists: read the Muslim world, by the barrel of a gun, the point of a sword, and the color of our devalued greenback. It is also worrisome that we (the citizens) allow our great nation to be hijacked by those who breed fear and paranoia into the populace. So, tell me, exactly who is the greater terrorist?

Posted by anthony at September 13, 2006 05:14 AM

Terrorism is in the eye of the beholder. I fear Cheney/Bush more than BinLadin or any Muslim.

Remember Christ's original title: Prince of Peace.

Posted by Sharon at September 13, 2006 05:29 AM

Why hasn't Roveco circulated the story that the Iraq civil war had already started before we got there, and that this is all just an unavoidable coincidence?

Just enough rubes might buy it for them to stay in power by the skin of their fangs.

"when al Qaeda takes over you'll be the first one hung up by your thumbs."

Judith, This is what makes me laugh. Somehow these repuke crackpots think that the American populace will stand for AQ marching in our streets. With as many guns as we have here, this is the last place AQ wants to mess with. If they thought a nutcase 'minutemen project' could get off the ground, wait until some foreign invader tries to go through inner city Chicago or backwoods Alabama. It ain't gonna happen. And the people who believe it could happen are delusional!

Posted by Seven of Six at September 13, 2006 06:26 AM

As Howard Zinn says, "terrorists can be recognized by their acts--the killing of innocent people to achieve some desired goal." What does that make us?

Zinn also says that "When the opposition party can offer nothing to fill that policy vacuum, the public feels it has no choice but to go along with what is being done. It is emotionally satisfying, even if rational thought suggests it does not work and cannot work." Here that Democrats?

Posted by Judith at September 13, 2006 06:32 AM

Daily had the perfect take on George's "War for the Survival of our Civilization" mantra. IF it is a war for the survival of life as we know it, why does George only have 140,000 troops in bad body armor fighting it? Why not start up the draft immediately and send 750,000 fully equiped troops and air power into Baghdad? Double our taxes, ration our gasoline to 5 gallons per week, forbid purchase of rubber and steel products???? You know, fight a damn WAR. Anything less is a clear admission of Bush's B.S. And the Dems could call him on this just as well as John Daily can, but of course, Daily isn't running for office.

Good morning Pessimist. You're being a dork. The only person who is going to be hurt by your ban is you, as nobody gets to comment on your posts, and, as such, no one is interested in what you post. Ban the lunatic scout, and the problem is solved. Or ban all of us. Again, problem solved. Have a nice day.

Seven of Six, this is what bothers me most about some Americans. They do not have the intellectual power or critical thinking ability to take a statement and analyze it. Furthermore, those who do have the ability, seem to have put that part of their brain on hold.

Posted by Judith at September 13, 2006 06:42 AM

Sorry, but I have been reading Zinn and have a great respect for his thinking. Here's another quote:

"Whoever the next President will be, it is up to the American people to demand that he begin a bold reconsideration of the role our country should play in the world. That is the only possible solution to a future of never-ending, pervasive fear. That would be "our" war on terrorism."

You are not feaful enough...yet!

They'll use their Turrist rapid troop avaition transport. Big military planes that carry 15,000 Turrists at one time. They got 100's of them in Tora Bora...Rush said so, I think. Of course, this will be coordinated with their fighter aircraft to cover the invasion. They also have massive armored tranport ships to carry their massive tanks. They have at least 100 times as many as the U.S. because democrats failed to build enough tanks because Clinton got a blow job. Why can't you face these facts?

The shocking is that they will invade for our white women! Yes, these bastards are after the flower of Mercan womanhood! Abstinence only education means all Mercan teenager women are virgins, and Gawd knows them Izlammo-fascists can't resist a virgin. And soon as our women see those dark-eyed dark-skinned Turrists their womanly whoredom will bubble to the surface and they will all convert to Izlamm to get a piece of a Turrist! Damn whores!

phid, don't forget that Lawrence was on the corp side.

You mean all that stuff England did in the Middle East as part of their "White man's burden" that led diectly to Iraq 03 and the rise of terroism was about corporate hegemony? Darn it! They obviously didn't build enough concentration camps, prisons, engage in enough torture or brutalize the population sufficiently. Thank god the Mad King, idiot son of George, arrived on the scene to visit some hell on these people. Why can't they just convert to christianity and live where we tell them without a fuss. Most of American Idians did so, and look what it got them! Deals with Abramoff and Reed.

Terrorists wanting to do us harm seem off the mark in their targets. Economic mayhem seems the area where most damage could be caused. An economic downfall would be far more effective in defeating the United States than acts of terror involving the killing of civilians. Tens of thousands of seemingly innocent, productive employees should be flooded into key sectors such as transportation, energy and manufacturing. It’s amazing what a lowly person can get away with as to throwing sands in the gears of machinery (figuratively and literally). Billions in insurance claims for damaged infrastructure, plus the resulting lost time and productivity, add up to immense sums of money. As corporations try to combat the destruction they expend more sums in security and monitoring and screening of employees. Additionally, sabotage won’t fan animosity against Muslims/Arabs nearly as much as killing someone’s brother or spouse in a plane crash. I imagine a smart campaign of thousands of well placed monkey wrenches would go a long way towards bringing down the economy. A death of a thousand cuts, so to speak.

Naw. The chimporers way is working really well. Look at how there have been no terrorist acts in the United States and the lovely wall we have going up down Mexico way. No need to treat anyone nice. Well, unless you want the fruit crops picked. 1/2 of which are rotting away in American fields because the migrant Mexican field workers are staying home. I really want to pay $3.00 for a head of romaine lettuce. I deserve to pay it to keep us safe from them Mesican turrists in the fields. I'll be glad when the Mexican produce comes in season. It should be cheaper. I'm looking forward to the genetically engineered tomatos with no flavor.

Phidipides, if they look like Omar Sharif did in Lawrence of Arabia, you will have to share.

I remember when you frisbeed the Mexican pool boy in the head with that lobster taco when we had the last TLC rendezvous down in Ensenada. It's the last time I do tequila shooters with you. Next time, we're sticking to Negra Modelo beer and mescal. I'm firm on this.

And the terrorists have the perfect tools for doing so with the Mad King, idiot son of George, his administration and the neo-cons and republi-cons who voted for them. It's not because these idiots hate America. They just aren't aware enough to undertand what they are doing to America. It looks like hatred, but I don't think it is. Iamcoyote, thanks for reminding me of Casteneda. Think I'll put out one of his books, and read again.

George might mellow out with a little juice, but then again, he might hallucinate that he is President.

Posted by Judith at September 13, 2006 08:56 AM

Perish the thought, Judith. It's better if George doesn't think at all. Less people are killed that way.

Now that you mention it, it might be fun to read those books again, after at least 20 years. I can't remember much other than the belly button lights. The Donnie Darko movie reminded me of that. Wonderful film, btw.

Posted by iamcoyote at September 13, 2006 09:08 AM

iac, this is the problem that occurs when the Mad King thinks...or whatever vaporous cognitive processes pass for thinking in his head:

"While the various New York memorial constructions can't get off (or into) the ground, due to disputes and cost estimate overruns, what could be thought of as the real American memorial to Ground Zero is going up in the very heart of Baghdad; and unlike the prospective structures in Manhattan or seemingly just about any other construction project in Iraq, it's on schedule. According to Paul McGeough, the $787 million "embassy," a 21-building, heavily fortified complex (not reliant on the capital's hopeless electricity or water systems) will pack significant bang for the bucks -- its own built-in surface-to-air missile emplacements as well as Starbucks and Krispy Kreme outlets, a beauty parlor, a swimming pool, and a sports center. As essentially a "suburb of Washington," with a predicted modest staff of 3,500, it is a project that says, with all the hubris the Bush administration can muster: We're not leaving. Never."

There are a ton of fun numbers in the link above.

The Donnie Darko movie?

Interesting fight going on in the Senate.

Please call and demand that your Senators allow a vote on the Reid Amendment.

Collins made a point of order to rule the Amendment out of order and the Murray made a motion to vote to waive the point of order so they could vote on the Amendment.

This is really important - it shows who is really for Security.

1-888-355-3588.

The Reid Amendment is here.

It is really stand alone legislation but they cannot introduce legislation so they introduced this amendment and the Pukes are screaming foul and cryin all they way home to the voters.

How can they be against Security?

Judith, it's been on dvd for a while now, very trippy kind of movie, playing with time travel. Fits right in with Carlos, I think.

Posted by iamcoyote at September 13, 2006 09:36 AM

Donny Darko is a must see, but it may not suit your tastes. I concur about it fitting in with Carlos...except there is no skinwalking in it.

Iamcoyote, it's the only way I can find "my spot."

Discretion is realizing some statements are better left without me responding to them!

How can they be against Security?

The recommendations of the amendment:

Implement the 9/11 Commission Recommendations.

Refocus on the War on Terror.

Protect Our Transportation Systems.

Equip Our Intelligence Community to Fight Against Terrorists.

Change the Course in Iraq.

Provide Better Tools to Bring Terrorists to Justice.

This stuff just can't work, Anjha. How can it work? There is no new reality in any of it. Why have an amendment when we can all just learn to think that things are going well? It says nothing about keeping Mexicans from picking fruit, and I certainly don't see a KBR no-bid contract anywhere in it. Where are the new tax breaks to the wealthy? Where is the bombing campaign against Lichtenstein? Where is the torture that Americans are so proud to display to the world so that they can learn to respect our brutality? I certainly don't see anything leading to the deaths of Americans troops. Can't we have those at the least?

No, I am afraid that the only thing we can do is stay the course and proudly scream "Sieg Heil!" as the Mad King, idiot son of George, leads us all to a great new tomorrow.

Posted by phidipides at September 13, 2006 10:17 AM

P-Dip - it was voted down Party line.

Those sons of bitches.

They really are the tough Party. They are the ones the bed-wetters look to for protection.

When will people learn that talk does not mean shit?

I cannot believe that so many Americans are so fucking stupid that they voluntarily believe lie after lie after lie and do not care when it is proven that they were lied to.

We should not be angry at the Dems. The Dems rolled out the Real Security Agenda months ago.

We should be pissed at the American people who continue to support the Pukes. They are the ones who are fucking up America.

I am on vacation, but I could not let the passing of Air America [go] without offering my condolences to the denizens of TLC.

Ref: http://thinkprogress.org/2006/09/13/air-america-bankruptcy

R.I.P. Air America.

Posted by Bagley at September 13, 2006 06:26 PM

From the part of the article that bagley did not read from Think Progress:

The right wing is sure to seize on Air America’s financial woes as a sign that progressive talk radio is unpopular. In fact, Air America succeeded at creating something that didn’t exist: the progressive talk radio format. That format is now established and strong and will continue with or without Air America. Indeed, many of the country’s most successful and widely-syndicated progressive talk hosts — Ed Schultz and Stephanie Miller, for instance — aren’t even associated with Air America.

Radio giant Clear Channel is so committed to progressive talk radio that, this week, it will announce a partnership with the Center for American Progress and MSS Inc. to conduct a nationwide search for the next Progressive Talk Radio Star.

UPDATE: Air America responds.

If Air America had filed for bankruptcy every time someone rumored it to be doing so, we would have ceased to exist long ago; it may be frustrating to some that this hasn’t happened. No decision has been taken to make any filing of any kind, we are not sure of the source of these rumors and frankly can not respond to every rumor in the marketplace.

Posted by Seven of Six at September 13, 2006 08:01 PM

See progressive talk radio has a distinct disadvantage in the market place. Unlike rightwing talk radio Progressive radios target audience is literate and therefore not reliant on listening to blowhards like Limbaugh and Hannity to know what to think.
