California deserves the fucking Ahnold is gonna give them. Unfortunately. Too bad those who voted against the dumbass will sufer too. As a nation we're already suffering from an unelected fraud and that should have been enough for California but noooo.... they elected Ahnold!

Posted by nechiaev at December 10, 2003 09:47 AMDC deserves to have a higher credit rating than Califoria. The've done a better job with their financing.
Posted by VAdem at December 10, 2003 10:08 AMIt's looking like all the potential problems Californians were repeatedly warned about in an Ahnuld administration are going to come true. I'm sure he wont take any of the heat. He'll just blame it all on the Davis administration, or the "pahl-ee-ticians", everyone will believe him, and he'll get re-elected to a full term.

Posted by MattS at December 10, 2003 11:27 AMArnold should just bring back Twisted Sister and the confetti gun - that will solve our problems! Although it was obvious to anyone paying attention that his promises were empty or self-contradicting, I am quite amused to see Arnold in a head-on collision with reality. The reaction of the public and the legislature to his budget early next month should be quite a show.
Senate Majority Leader John Burton is really giving a schooling to Arnold, who clearly still does not understand who and what he is up against. Yesterday, Burton made the news by sarcastically singing "Impossible Dream" and by telling Arnold's press secretary to basically put it where the sun doesn't shine for suggesting that Arnold could bypass the Democratic leadership.
Posted by CA Pol Junkie at December 10, 2003 12:46 PMIt'll get bad before it gets worse.
On a brighter note, in a year or two, maybe the Californians will change their Constitution to Limit and Curtail the use of propositions.
Ofcourse, the idiots will probably go too far and Eliminate them entirely.
Yeah, we're screwed.
Posted by ROGNM at December 10, 2003 04:22 PMThe thing that struck me was that the Governor is trashing two of his campaign promises because he has to keep the most important one: don't raise taxes. If he is willing to trash both his promise to education and his promise to the cities, then why can't he reconsider the one thing that would make the pain more fully shared for all Californians?
And about his plan to sell bonds: I personally have a real problem with not paying for our operational expenses by taking out a loan for our children to pay. That's like me taking on a huge credit card debt to pay for food and lodging and then stick it to the kid to pay off. He gets nothing, whereas the "adults" get yet one more free ride. Talk about an entitlement attitude.
