It was pretty wonderful to see Clinton react, thinking on his feet. But Chris Wallace's "trick" felt like a genuine "dirty trick" of old, like "The Path to 911."
Reckon this is Rove playing Young Republican Redux? Or maybe Segretti's back in business...
Posted by Mickey at September 23, 2006 12:18 AMI keep hoping that I'm going to wake up from this nightmare... The so-called moderate Republicans that forced a compromise on the torture bill in essence gave the President the core of what he wanted, made the Republicans looks like they weren't out of control and thus increased their chances of retaining control in November. The level of deceit is so high that it's as if it considered business as usual. I live in a country who leaders have legalized warrantless spying and torture...please let me wake up!
Posted by Roy Batty at September 23, 2006 04:04 AMNow the death toll is 9/11 times two. U.S. military deaths from Iraq and Afghanistan now match those of the most devastating terrorist attack in America's history, the trigger for what came next. Add casualties from chasing terrorists elsewhere in the world, and the total has passed the Sept. 11 figure. (AOL News)
Of course, the MSM never mentioned this milestone.

Posted by Judith at September 23, 2006 04:46 AMFinally, someone named Clinton smacked Wallace right across his smirking the face. Clinton demonstrates on how you talk to this guys. Too bad Democrats don't have the balls Clinton has.
Posted by Judith at September 23, 2006 05:05 AMPresident Clinton could -- with one hand tied behind his back, kick the collective pussy asses of O'Reilly, Hannity, Wallace and Mann Coulter and never break a sweat.
All cheer Octagon Bill!
Posted by Christopher at September 23, 2006 05:12 AMFox will edit the hell out of this piece until it is unrecognizable. There is no way Fox is going to allow Wallace to look like the village idiot.
Posted by Judith at September 23, 2006 05:22 AMWhat is the story with Chris Wallace's mouth?
He looks like a ventriloquist dummy. But since Murdock does have his hand up his back, I guess that makes sense.
Posted by Christopher at September 23, 2006 05:37 AMDemocrats really do want to lose the elections.
A memo sent to Democratic staffers, the party's Senate leadership claimed "while Iraq may be high among the concerns of the American people, it is a distant reality in comparison to the day to day challenges many families face filing their gas tanks, paying for college, saving for retirement and securing a job."
A distant reality? Oh. My. God.
In poll after poll, voters place Iraq well above the economy when asked which issue will most affect their vote this year. And when you combine concerns about the war with concerns about terrorism/national security, it's the economy that is "a distant reality."
It's NOT the economy, stupid!

Posted by wlgriffi at September 23, 2006 05:43 AMWho watches Fox? My right wing Republican friends (all two of them).

I wonder if Rove's much speculated about October Surprise will be the announcement that OBL is dead?
Unconfirmed reports by the French new agencies say he died in Pakistan of typhoid.
Better that and not another war.
Posted by Christopher at September 23, 2006 06:35 AMI really miss having an intelligent, articulate leader in this country.
Posted by ann at September 23, 2006 06:47 AMClinton probably saw this coming since it is Fox.
He'll also be on MTP Sunday with Tim-meh Russ-ert. Let's see if it happens again.
Posted by Alex at September 23, 2006 07:17 AMYeah I caught that Christopher, over at Main and Central. I guess they had to take him out of the freezer for the October Surprise!
Posted by Seven of Six at September 23, 2006 11:35 AMThe saddest thing is, when the Dems so badly need a leader, and when Bill Clinton could absolutely fill that need, he is hamstrung by his estranged wife. The need to couch his leadership ability to keep from hurting Hillary's political future is a shame. Talk about an anchor.....
