So the right wing "main stream" media thinks Clinton over-reacted, while at the same time legitimizing the nut-job Limbaugh? Go figure.

Terrorism = Fear.

The goon who sent Keith the powder committed an act of terrorism.

That's why the so-called "War on Terrorism" is a ruse. A joke. A straw man.

I find it extremely interesting that the victims of mysterious envelopes filled with white powder (Sen. Leahy, Planned Parenthood, and Keith) are all liberals.

So, who are the terrorists, Mr. Bush???

this nightmare known as the bush administration is almost over..and someday they will get what they deserve..

My work travel days are over so no opportunity to watch Cable TV in motels. The propaganda is unbelievable. 1936 Germany replayed here in contemporary USA. The habeous deal the Senate crimed yesterday is so deeply shocking in its throat-closing horror, its implications are so hard, hard to absorb that one just sits with eyes popping and mouth drying. The new round up law will take care of the illegal Mexicans, Visa overstaying Muslims, uppity Africans--a racists dream come true, no? American concentration camps and soon crematorias to take care of the bodies.

Here's the BLESSING I count each day...that I'll be 67 on my birthday next week...NOT 7 with my life before me in this sad excuse for a FREE COUNTRY!!! Think the past five years of diligent political interest/reading/thinking/writing/working/contributing have burned me out given the state of our nation. LOTS OF LUCK Youngsters...

Great Post. Its great to see the right support terrorism.

Notice that Fox did indeed get their particular message out in play. Two things, one their message to followers substitutes for common sense (otherwise known as engaging your own brain) and second, this methodology trains the viewers to perceive the message without facts.

This all makes me wonder if certain Dem pols have been threatened with bodily harm ala Paul Wellstone.

I'm livid this morning - I just confirmed that my Democratic Congresscritter Boswell, voted for the detainee act.

Leonard! Wake the FUCK up man! Even Jim Leach, a Republican, broke with his party on this one!

Can you be any more your namesake to the GOP?

These radical wingnut scum want war. They've wanted war ever since the New Deal worked. Ever since the Confederacy fell. Ever since the British surrendered.

Fine. Let's throw, wingnuts. Take a swing.

The goon who sent Keith the powder committed an act of terrorism.

So too did Coulter. But it seems to be only a joke when these things are sent to the left. The right is composed of loons and nutjobs who have a free pass when it comes to terrorism. They are the terrorists.

If power shifts to the left I can only hope that every tool the right leaves is used in the most forthright manner against them. They are the traitors, they are the terrorists, they are the problem. And they should pay dearly in their wealth and persons for their crimes against us all.

The new round up law will take care of the illegal Mexicans, Visa overstaying Muslims, uppity Africans--a racists dream come true, no?

The latest NIE report states that a problem in the "war on terra" are the leftist internet sites...us. We don't support them in a trance-like goose-stepping lockstep with our right arms unfurled at a 45 degree angle from our bodies. We are the problem as far as they are concerned. We are the ones the KBR contracted detention facilities are being built for. It has nothing to do with illegals, muslims on visas or anything else. They are coming for us.

Mal, and the Americans will go about life like nothing has happened.

Life is pretty mean for the lower 80%. They are working harder making less money trying to pay more for everything in their lives. They have time to go to work, feed the kids, and plop in front of the televised tranquilizers so they can watch wealthy actors portray perfect everyday life, a life those 80% think they have or wish they had, while the droning sound they hear is the sound of money rushing to the top 1%, not their pockets.

I'm livid this morning - I just confirmed that my Democratic Congresscritter Boswell, voted for the detainee act.

My republi-cons voted not only for the Detainee Act, they also volunteered to fuck the first teenaged muslim boy up the ass and waterboard an old muslim lady. I feel safe!

The only hope -and I recognize there is no hope for this- is that Nazi Germany codified torture and death and the leadership got to hang for it. I want to be at the gallows when these fucks come up short on the rope.

Little noted, and seldom reported, was the fact that the NY Post claimed to have received letters during the anthrax scare of '01 and some of the staff became sick.

If true, Than the Post should be castigated further for its "little joke"!

Holy Crap.

I am emotionally hungover.

Not only was I absorbed into the SPAN all day yesterday listening to the end of America, my husband decided to stay home sick from work and make me sick as well by fighting with me all day. Long story, not worth anyones time.

I ended the day by going off on my neighbor yesterday when she came over to get her son. This is the same nice Christian neighbor who has a signed picture of Mr & Mrs Bush in their daughters bedroom (I still think this is child abuse.)

My yard is full of Dem yard signs. She made the mistake (she already knew I was emotionally distraught vis a vis the tile samples on my counter: see: fight with husband) and she said to me "I thought I would bring you a Mike McGavick sign for your yard." Heh. Funny.

I said to her, "we now officially live in a police state." I explained to her the dangers of the legislation. She gave me the look of disbelief that I could not possibly know what I was talking about.

She said who passed it. I said "THE REPUBLICANS!" Then she said oh, it takes more than the just the Republicans. I said no - the Dems do not have a majority, they do not have subpoena power, they are locked out of adding amendments in the House due to closed rules.... believe me, the rant was loud and long.

She said, defensively, "oh, so just because someone is a Republican they are bad?!" I tried to explain to her balance, rubber stamp, lack of oversight.... On deaf ears.

I told her that I would be happy to show her the legislation, how dangerous that it is, the closed rules in the House, the lack of oversight - proof, data, source, information

What good is fact and information when the Preznit and his Party are "good Christians"?!

Holy fuck.

When I listened to the callers on the SPAN last night, granted there were more Dems and more people who were once Repukes who switched to Dems, but the ones supporting this Party are radical and terrifying.

Seriously.

Yelling. Angry. Afraid. Biggoted. Religious nutcases. (One caller tried to give the website of some tapes that you can get for free talking about the war in Iraq and against terrorism being the new Holy War and these are the same people we were fighting in ___: ___ (whatever bilbe verse it was.)

I was really appreciative to read the link at L&L to DKos Diary that said "chill out" - because I need to chill.

People need to understand that dissent has just been made illegal. We are in serious trouble.

phid: By the time the Nazis finally got justice, Germany was reduced to a parking lot. I hope the American people wake up sooner.

Well, we aren't being reduced to a parking lot through bombs, etc. But quality of life issues would certainly indicate we are being flattened by economic and other forces.

We are in serious trouble.

And have been for 5.5 years.

Posted by phidipides at September 29, 2006 11:47 AM

So, I finally saw the video of the KBR contractor who was shot at in Iraq and is now suing KBR for firing him. On one hand, he should sue because KBR was wrong to terminate him and that is simply outrageous.

On the other hand, I was rather bothered by his assertion that it was the U.S. military's responsibility to protect and save him from his peril. He chose to work for war profiteers and agreed to go to Iraq as a contractor who was paid better than our armed forces are paid. It seems to me that our military is so short on man/womanpower, that using our precious few military to guard contractors isn't the best use of our young men and women.

In short, I'm not sure how I feel about the whole thing. Anybody else want to weigh in?

Posted by ann at September 29, 2006 11:59 AM

I think a fair comparison Ann, is that when you do something potentially dangerous at its face value, that maybe you've got less of leg to stand on concerning government protections. (That's an awful pun, but I'm going to move on.) How much protection should homeowners who've built in natural woodlands overgrown with tinder brush and suffering from long-term drought expect?

Posted by idiosynchronic at September 29, 2006 12:19 PM

Some years ago there was a person killed in her own backyard in the rural precincts of a New England state--I think Vermont---but she was minding her own business and hunters on adjacent property thought she was a deer and shot her. The case went to court. The hunters were not reprimanded or punished. The conclusion was this woman should have known it was hunting season and worn bright orange colors whenever she went into her wooded back yard.

I have hated the very idea of this decision since it was reported. Now I find that a representative of KBR--an employee-- goes into a war zone, gets shot and wonders why he has no protection from KBR or our troops.

Refer to the decision of the woman killed in her own backyard. "You should have known" is a lousy argument, and it's all the more outrageous when we have lunatics in the White House and Contractors in Iraq who think it's hunting season.

Representative Mark Foley of Florida resigns from Congress after leak of questionable emails sent to 16 year old former Congressional page.

Why would the guy just up and resign like that?
