Now that things are obvious to everyone other the Prez, the VP, Rummie and a few others, I think we'll see more of this kind of book. By not talking to Bush, Woodward probably got more information than he could have with his previous hum jobs.
Posted by Rich at September 29, 2006 02:14 PMWoodward has a nose for power and his nose is telling him to scorn yesterday's powerbase in favor of the up and comers...will it be the Dems? Don't know, but his nose is twitching and he's looking to court favors.
Posted by mainsailset at September 29, 2006 02:51 PMDo not miss 60 minutes this Sunday. Bob Woodward is interviewed by Mike Wallace in which Bob tells him about the real situation on ground in Iraq. According to Woodward our troops are being attacked on an average of every 15 minutes. Bush and Cheney are telling us things are improving in Iraq. It is time for Americans to demand that Congress hold this administration accountable?
Posted by suresh at September 29, 2006 02:56 PMAs things look worse for Bush, the October Surprise becomes more and more certain.
This week Bush learned more about the lack of limits of his power. He is "lashing out" more and more as he learns he really has no checks. The Congress has surely proven this week it is no check on power and instead that it is only a fawning sycophant. Soon Bush will begin acting on his belief that those who oppose him are traitors. Expect Bush to become increasingly shrill as his former supporters who have become detractors like Woodward and Sullivan become more critical, especially if it becomes more likely that the Democrats will take the Senate as well as the House. He will not tolerate risking a loss in November. The tail is increasingly wagging the dog.
Remember the Reichstag Fire!
Posted by Nobody at September 29, 2006 03:19 PMYea! And remember the Maine, too!
Florida fuddy-duddy Foley says there was nothing "inappropriate" in his E-mails to a 16 year old page, so it makes perfect sense that he considered it appropriate to resign from congress in a year that the GOP really doesn't need the seats.
Posted by TIKI AL at September 29, 2006 03:38 PMCheny and Rumsfeld were both self-aggrandizing mediocrities in Congress, in the Ford White House and in the corporate world. Their run seems to be nearing its end. Woodward smells blood.
Talk about the blind leading the blind: We're ruled by delusional ideologues, and their followers are even worse. If you're that far out of touch with reality, you need extraordinary powers just to keep one step ahead of the law. Thursday, their congressional enablers -- a Roll Call Hall of Shame -- were quick to oblige.
Still, Woodward's book may mark a turning point. You know things are bad when the court stenographer starts to bite the hand that has been feeding him.
Don't forget Powell. They hung him out to dry.
Posted by Killer at September 29, 2006 05:18 PMWoodward is a hack. I agree with the fact that he must see the winds changing to write a book critical of little bush.
Posted by Ga6thDem at September 29, 2006 06:09 PMHe doesn't give a shit. He makes a calculated guess about what's gonna sell in 12 months and rights about that.
Hack is right. He doesn't give a shit about what Bushco. has done to this country.
