I see an article out today that India is struggling to find enough water to continue their agricultural growth as well. This country will hear a loud thud if CA agriculture cannot sustain its water levels. Personally, after having 3 wells go dry on my property in the last year and the well drillers with a backlog of 6 months locally I'm thinking we're past simply being in trouble. Time to think about birth control folks.

Posted by Seven of Six at September 30, 2006 08:29 AMI hope you get enough rain to put out the day fire, we are coughing our ass's off from it here in Phoenix.
Posted by TIKI AL at September 30, 2006 01:15 PMUnfortunately, wildlife and vegetation, unlike humans, cannot employ technology to adapt to climate change. If it gets bad enough, humans won't be able to adapt either.
Posted by Patrick Kennedy at September 30, 2006 02:01 PMActually we got a little rain in San Jose today. It's very early in the season for the first rain.
However, early rain does not mean we will get ample rain throughout the season. A few years ago we got heavy rain in December, and then nothing more.
I don't believe that people who live in those states where they leave the water running while they brush their teeth really appreciate how much Californians and other westerners are constantly thinking about whether there's going to be enough water for the next year.
