Comments: October May Be Bloodiest Month Ever For American Troops

Just saw conarteesta quoted on CNN, "Iraqi leaders should settle their differences". Ya think? Only the best and brightest.

Ya know, this might have been in the news if Foleygate hadn't erupted!

Posted this on the open thread, but it goes better here....

I read somewhere that there are around 300,000 trained Iraqi troops and police now--pretty close to the final number intended. Bush's "we'll stand down as the Iraqis stand up" is now shown to be untenable. Next time some repub says that the dems don't have a plan, the dems need to point out that "stand down when they stand up" isn't working, and ask what their plan is. Stand up/stand down didn't work. More troops (recently added to Bagdhad) didn't work. What is their plan exactly?

Just saw conarteesta quoted on CNN, "Iraqi leaders should settle their differences".

According to the AP Condi delivered her remarks on the tarmac of the Baghdad International Airport with her plane, engines running, in the background. As she finished speaking a disorientated looking Rodney King emerged from the planes hatch and repeated his oft quoted tag line "Can't we all just get along?" to the assembled media and armed body guards. Immediately after which he and Secretary Rice were hustled back into the plane which was quickly prepared for take off. No word yet on how these new proposals from the Bush administration will play out with the Iraqi leadership.

why did she go there? Is there a shoe sale in the duty free shop at Baghdad Intl?

Posted by T2 at October 5, 2006 09:42 AM

Rodney King was probably just drunk again. If they parachuted him into Palestine, he couldn't do any worse than the non-existant bush-rice peace effort.

If things are getting better over there, why do Bush Administration officials fly in unannounced?

They call "fragging" the officer. It's a huge threat to these administration ass-clowns.

It is time for Democrats to demand more troops for Iraq to stop high casulties our troops are taking due to lack of sufficient help. It is clear that Iraqi troops are not able to handle the terrorist attacks. Actually some Iraqi soldiers are refusing to go into dangerous areas. So far Democrats have talked about withdrawing the troops that makes them look weak. They must think about what is good for a soldier on ground in Iraq at this time. He needs help and so let us send enough troops to control the situation before we withdraw.

There is general consensus among the military experts that we do not have enough troops in Iraq. What are we waiting for? If Rumsfeld refuses, let that be on his record that he did not provide help to the soldiers on ground when it was crucial.

Democrats in congress should start on this and I do not think Republicans can oppose it because they do not want to be labeled as not supporting the troops.

Her plane was delayed because of all the people throwing flowers near the Baghdad airport, again.

Right, Mr. Cheney?

Some commenter yesterday, six of seven or clk or someone, phid or euzious, suggested, rather, implied, that bushco had to show that things were getting better toot sweet for domestic political consumption, and the only way they could do that was to increase troop activity in the Mekong, er, Baghdad.

Don't know if that's true or not, would love to hear from the troops over there if their patrol type activity has increased recently or not, but it certainly would explain the horrible number of casualties all of the sudden.

Bushco making a cold calculation to increase the risk to troops to save theirs and their vile minions claw on power would not play well at home. It would be further testament to their utter lack of humanity.

A lack fully in view as they scramble to blame Democrats and Pages and Staffers and Homosexuals and Clinton and Abortions instead of recognizing that even those initial e-mails were wrong from the get go, that their response should have been obvious from the moment they saw those e-mails, never mind the "steamy," (YES, that's how the AP termed them last night), (steamy, who knew that perversion was steamy, I always thought that steamy was Kathleen Turner in "Body Heat" myself) okay, disgusting, IM's.

But their reaction was to cover it up, to deny it happened, to let the abuse continue, to take blood money from the pervert to keep their seats in power. And that's why this revelation is resonating, and connecting to their other perversions, their death and destruction lust, their bullying tactics, their spying and hiding, their lies and incomprehensibility and total lack of imagination. Because it brings it into sharp and personal focus.

What happens when a supervisor starts harassing employees? After a while the employees resist, speak out, tell management this is wrong, and if the immediate superior doesn't act they speak out to the next boss, all the way to the top if need be.

Well, WE are the top, people, and Democrats should feel free to come talk to us, our door is open, since all of the other managers are too busy covering up their crimes and culpability to get rid of the harassing supervisor.

So it is indeed right and proper for Democrats to beat the crap out of republicans on the Foley crimes and cover-up, the Condi lies, the 9-11 whitewash, the Katrina abandonment and abdication, and every other miserable le failure of this miserable administration.

And don't let anyone tell you otherwise, ignore the concern trolls, be mean, be pissed off, because the American People are pissed off about this perfect demonstration of the cowardice and hypocrisy and total lack of human values, never mind family values, but human values displayed by Bush and Cheney and Hastert and Frist and Lieberman and every other Republican who doesn't denounce Foley and Hastert and bush's war.

It's two sides of the same coin, personal and national, and it needs to be ended right now.

It is difficult to read the comments of suresh at 10:13 am and not be repulsed, if not outraged, at the obtuseness of what he had written. He is simply shocked that the Democrats have not been more vocal in demanding more troops be sent to Iraq, despite the stance of such liberal hawks as Hillary Clinton and Joseph Biden. What suresh conveniently fails to mention is that the army is already stretched to the breaking point. Does he expect these troops to arise from the graves of Alexander the Great's men?

There are already almost 300,000 Iraqi troops trained in the Iraqi military. It is long past the time that the Iraqis defend their own country. The Iraqis will never stand up as long as they realize that they can depend upon the American military to do the bulk of the fighting.

Perhaps the most egregious statement that suresh makes is when he equates sending in more troops to supporting the troops. Actually, the best way that one can support the troops is by demanding that those troops be removed from that abattoir as quickly as possible. Those American soldiers are not fighting for some glorious noble cause; they are, instead, fighting for a lost cause. The resistance fighters [suresh does exactly what the Bush and the neoconservatives do- he equates the resisters with the terrorists which is totally false. As Congressman Murtha has taken pains to point out, apparently to no avail, those terrorists in Iraq amount to 7 per cent of those who are fighting against the U.S. and coalition forces. Again, that figure is 7, not seventy.] will continue to blow up and pick apart the American military, as long as they continue to breathe, until the Americans have stopped occupying their country. Bring those troops home safely, NOW, as rapidly and as quickly as possible.

Erroll:

I think you misunderstand me. I am as opposed to Iraq war as you are. However, this problem will not get solved with current Republican administration or congress. Therefore Democrats must take one or both houses and hold this administration accountable. This can only happen if Democrats play smart. By talking about withdrawing troops from Iraq, they have exposed themself to 'Cut and Run" attack from Rove and Co. Instead Democrats should make a big deal about the US soldier casulities and force Republicans to take action by saying send more troops to help our soldiers. Of course where the troops going to come from? So, it starts a debate as to why are we in such situation? Why it was not palnned properly? etc. That kind of debate is going to expose Republicans for their ineptness about Iraq. Then American public will think about a change.
