Looks like Johnny's doin' a little hand jive in that pic.
Posted by snark at October 10, 2006 01:30 PMIf Clinton's 1994 framework was a failure for the remaining 6 years he was in office, what's Bush's excuse for not doing better in his 6 years in office? With his republican congress, he could have done anything he wanted if he felt the framework was a failure.
Did any of these people raise children? If kids misbehave and you ignore them and refuse to speak to them, they misbehave more. It's called "acting out to get attention."
Posted by CG at October 10, 2006 01:55 PMThe GOPers want us to believe that Bill Clinton is still president. He is not. George W. Bush has been president for 6 years, with a compliant Congress. Every problem that exists today of a foreign policy nature is completely the responsibility of the Bush Administration and the GOP Congress, of which McCain is a member. Oh, I forgot..they are never responsible for anything bad that happens.
Posted by T2 at October 10, 2006 01:57 PMFuck McCain and the bush he rode in on.
Posted by God Of War at October 10, 2006 01:58 PMI bet the author's curled up in a little ball whimpering over the fact that either they're getting so predictable or that they're reading her work for ideas.
Posted by idiosynchronic at October 10, 2006 02:10 PMI hope McCain is watching the US AMMO Depot blowing up in South Baghdad right now on CNN.
It should bring back fond memories of that "wonderful" shock and aw shit day kicking off the biggest US foreign policy blunder in history . Your tax dollars at work.
Posted by TIKI AL at October 10, 2006 02:36 PMThis is the sort of engaging, idea-rich and yet tough talk that Democrats need to employ at all times on foreign policy. Talking to your enemies is always better than having to fight them. All the Bush policy has done is push us toward another open front of combat in the overall War on Terror. The only options the White House currently leaves itself in North Korea are full scale invasion and nuking the bastards. Given those options, what is so very wrong with sitting down and talking to them. Talk is always cheaper than body bags.
Posted by NorCalRINO at October 10, 2006 03:01 PMIt really is just this simple:
Clinton--North Korea has no nukes
Bush--North Korea has nukes
The Bush team can try to explain to people that it's more complicated than that, I guess. But they're much better at dumbing things down than smarting them up.
Posted by dj moonbat at October 10, 2006 03:39 PMThe worst thing we could do is to accede to North Korea's demand for bilateral talks," McCain said. "When has rewarding North Korea's bad behavior ever gotten us anything more than worse behavior?"
Talking to someone (especially some asshole from this adminis.....crime family, like say John "the Undiplomatic" Bolton or Mistress Condi the Dominatrix, is hardly a reward!
Even though I hated Bush "before it was cool" even I seem to detect an elevated level of desperation in all of the regpunants --- unfortunately this is scary. I fear the depths to which they will descend to avoid accountablity or losing power are deeper than most anyone (other than Darth Cheney) can imagine.
Posted by theExile at October 10, 2006 04:39 PMit is rather humorous when you see an old fart pandering to a group of thugs for money and religious action committee money.
and they will abandon him the next time someone says one of his children is clearly the spawn of the devil. As we note, desperate people do desperate things.
we should have the richest couple years of comedy in the history of stand up and politics. if we survive it.
Posted by oldtree at October 10, 2006 04:55 PMJohn McCain - Shoeshine boy
He's already lost the GOP nomination.
Posted by Alex at October 10, 2006 05:24 PMHaving lost all respect for McCain as a serious Senator a couple years ago, I don't see any him making a successful run for the Presidency no matter whom he courts. I would say the same about ex-mayor Giuliani, although his profile will probably rise to the McCain level in another 6 to 8 months. I think we have seen the peak of the Religious Right too. The only thing that will bring them back is a surge of Supreme Court decisions that enhance the perception they have achieved something inspite of the double dealing from their own party.
Posted by cromulant at October 10, 2006 05:41 PMWhy does McCain have a hardon in this picture?
Posted by Christopher at October 10, 2006 06:49 PMIn the land of Wingnuttia, the last six years did not happen, so it has to be Clinton's fault.
Posted by j swift at October 10, 2006 06:59 PMWhy does McCain have a hardon in this picture?
That's not a hardon. It's just Bob Doles' pen.
Posted by snark at October 10, 2006 07:25 PMPen. Is that a euphamism for something? Or merely a remark about, ahem, girth.
Posted by iamcoyote at October 10, 2006 07:29 PMBlaming Clinton for 9/11, then North Korean nukes, Jeebus, what's next? The federal deficit? Iraq?
Seriously, why can't DC Dems point out that Republicans, in complete control of the government for years, simply refuse to take responsibility for anything?! And that incessant, continual finger-pointing is NOT leadership?
Perhaps tomorrow Republicans will blame the page scandal on Clinton. peter, how's that angle going?
Posted by euzoius at October 10, 2006 08:19 PMBlaming Clinton for 9/11, then North Korean nukes, Jeebus, what's next? The federal deficit? Iraq?
No but I am curious to know his whereabouts during the second act of "Our American Cousin."
Posted by at October 10, 2006 08:35 PMPen. Is that a euphamism for something? Or merely a remark about, ahem, girth.
McCain should be so lucky.
Posted by Christopher at October 10, 2006 08:35 PMPerhaps tomorrow Republicans will blame the page scandal on Clinton.
Too easy. 'Cause you know, Clinton destroyed the integrity in DC (wow....did I just type that?) by getting a blowjob in the Oval Office. Clearly, Bush tried to restore integrity to the White House (again, did I really just type that??) but Clinton's damage was just too much. I need to go take a shower now.
Posted by ann at October 10, 2006 09:32 PMMcCain with a woody is scarier than Bob Dole with a woody.
Posted by Christopher at October 11, 2006 03:31 AM"Perhaps tomorrow Republicans will blame the page scandal on Clinton. peter, how's that angle going?"
euzoius, they warn you about 'calling up spirits.'
Wasn't it Clinton's fault that Nixon had to resign?
Posted by Judith at October 11, 2006 06:36 AMNo, judith, it was my fault along with thousands of other people who got signatures for impeachment.
New Playboy Club in Vegas is hiring, you game?
Posted by TIKI AL at October 11, 2006 09:59 AMClinton--North Korea has no nukes
Bush--North Korea has nukes
James Baker--North Korea developed their first nuke under Bush I.
Anyone else see and hear that? I certainly did.
http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_daily_show/videos/most_recent/index.jhtml
Look for Baker in 3 parts. 1st part, 45 seconds remaining in the video. Listen for yourself. They developed a nuke under GHW Bush. Amazing.
