Now is not the time to play politics of the most dangerous kind. . .
Nor the time to play politics ineffectually. A center can only exist if there are two sides; if one side says "blame Bill," and another side says "now is not the time for blame," there can be no center.
Posted by dj moonbat at October 10, 2006 10:39 PMyou got it accurately steve.
demtillians = reptillians.
perhaps got it more accurately. all of them lizards from hell.
but, i am surprised by how it is that so many missed the reality of the clintons....
fascist bastids allied with the bushits. now, why would that be? because all of them are courtiers of the rockefellers.
if you don't know that, then you really haven't been paying attention.
but that is the problem with the purported left. it really doesn't pay attention. does it?
are there any anti-fascists in the congress other than ron paul?
you tell me.
Posted by albertchampion at October 10, 2006 10:52 PMIt's amazing to me that anyone can get away with claiming that direct talks with the US are a reward to NK, especially when those talks could be used to say, "What you're doing sucks and we're going to point our entire arsenal at you if you keep it up. And don't even think about selling your technology." Yup, that's just ice cream and cake to W and the boys.
Perhaps someone could explain it to W this way: Let's say you have 3 people who are neighbors (I know W has never lived in a house where he actually had to see neighbors, but anyway). Neighbor 1, whom we will call George, has a problem with neighbor 2, whom we will call Kim. Kim seems to like to randomly use a slingshot to hit poor frat boys who wander up the street to George's house, and this burns up George because the frat boys always have plenty of bourbon on hand. But George doesn't want to say anything to Kim, so he sends a buddy to talk to neighbor 3, whom we will call Mao. Mao says, "Sure, I'll talk to Kim". So Mao gets on his coal powered riding mower and heads down to Kim's place. After talking, Mao discovers that he also would like to take potshots at the frat boys. Furthermore, Kim and Mao discover that they don't really care much for George. In fact, they think George is kind of a dumbass because he never talks to anyone in the neighborhood and he lets his dog poop on everyone's lawn. So pretty soon, Kim and Mao start to corral the bourbon, which they soon use to devise plans to take out the damn dog.
Do you think W could understand that, or am I just asking to get a face full of buckshot from other gov't officials?
Posted by TR at October 10, 2006 10:57 PMI couldn't find much on Senator Clinton's response to the North Korean nuclear test, but I did find this item in the Long Island Business News today, reporting on a coffee klatch Clinton attended with a group of Island reporters at the Crest Hollow Country Club. No doubt gulping down a cafe latte (cinnamon sprinkles, no foam) as she spoke, Clinton said:
"I consider the North Korean leadership to be the equivalent of a teenage gang. They are desperate for respect. They are desperate for some acknowledgement that they are the toughest guys in the neighborhood. They are immature and indifferent to their own people ... If I was able to lay down a policy, I would send more inspectors in, I would put more pressure on them, offer some help with their energy and their food. It may be emotionally gratifying to say `you're bad people and we don't want to have anything to do with you,' but I don't think you weaken yourself by talking to people you're trying to contain, deter, defeat or even, eventually, remove from office."
So now Kim Jong-il is immature? And he's leading a teenage gang? A teenage gang with nukes?

McCain is too old and too ill to govern.
Ah yes.
The left calling once again for us to "hold hands and sing kumbaya."
Democrats will never learn.
Posted by Christopher at October 11, 2006 02:58 AMyes, McCain looks pretty bad. old war injuries catching up with him I guess. What exactly is his medical rundown?
Posted by howard hughes blues at October 11, 2006 03:08 AMI saw this response from Hilary's spokesman yesterday via Crooks & Liars that I thought was much better and hard hitting.
I hope Big Dawg sets the record straight just like he did with Chris Wallace on Faux News regarding 9/11 and Al Qaeda.
Posted by emal at October 11, 2006 04:29 AMOh please, tell me this isn't true:
CNN is giving a newly prominent role to Lou Dobbs, one of its most popular and opinionated personalities, including a slot alongside Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper as an anchor of midterm election coverage next month.

Posted by Judith at October 11, 2006 04:31 AMYou know, for weeks before Katie settled her duff into the anchor chair on CBS, the polls said over and over again it would be a bad move. Now after five weeks, her viewership on the CBS Evening News has dropped each week since her debut the day after Labor Day.
Her broadcast averaged 7.04 million viewers last week, third to NBC's Nightly News and ABC's World News, according to Nielsen Media Research. You think CBS finally gets it?
Posted by Judith at October 11, 2006 04:49 AMThe problem is, who the hell is home and ready to waste 30 minutes watching MSM at 6:30pm?
Not in our house.
My grandmother watches the nightly network news, but she's retired and doesn't own a computer.
Posted by Christopher at October 11, 2006 04:53 AMThe worst part Katie & the Evening News is that her terribile work will get blamed on her sex rather than her mediocre skills and tendency to make up for journalism with her legs. It'll effectively kill any chance of a female news anchor for another 5 years at least.
Posted by idiosynchronic at October 11, 2006 04:56 AMLeaving her political leanings behind, who in the world can switch their thinking of Katie from giddy, cutesy, toothy, fluffy Katie, to hard hitting serious newswoman? Evidently not too many people.

The let's not throw blame around line is used by those who think they're to blame. She should NOT be saying that.
Posted by at October 11, 2006 04:59 AMI suspect that Katie's 'journalism'? days are just about to end.
Posted by Judith at October 11, 2006 04:59 AMOh, who cares what Hillary says.
Posted by Judith at October 11, 2006 05:01 AMKatie looks like a Gerbil with an expensive haircut.
Oh well, Missy Couric is notorious for stunts like having a colonoscopy on live TV for ratings.
Maybe this time she will demonstrate the hazards of a Brazilian wax.
Posted by Christopher at October 11, 2006 05:03 AMOh, and Hillary Clinton can go take a hike.
Posted by Christopher at October 11, 2006 05:09 AMGee, I was hoping Katie would have a "China Syndrome" moment and get a break doing hard news for a change. On the other hand, I have think that is still possible if CBS sticks with her because the reports flowing in are becoming more and more serious. She may have no choice.

Posted by cromulant at October 11, 2006 05:24 AMHillary needs to fire her consultants and listen to her husband. Bill understands how to fight back, that you have to respond to the Rethugs immediately and harshly. Now is not the time for any Dem to be taking the high road. Sorry, but the American people have shown time and time again that they won't vote for moral integrity - they like their politics dirty.
Posted by ann at October 11, 2006 05:42 AMThe constant Blame Clinton line from the GOP is testament to a party and Leader that has no accomplishments of it's own to point to, so they find someone who governed 6-7 years ago and try to blame them for the failure. GOP = The No Responsiblity Party.
Posted by T2 at October 11, 2006 06:12 AMHillary needs to fire her consultants and listen to her husband. Bill understands how to fight back, that you have to respond to the Rethugs immediately and harshly.
And - I hate to say this because the man's a snake - this is something Bill learned from James 'Python' Carville. It's about the only worthwhile thing he's demonstrated to the Democrats. I suppose its something both him and his wife agree on.
Posted by idiosynchronic at October 11, 2006 06:19 AMMy guess is (based on my limited contact with my senator) you can't tell Le Hill a damn thing.
She's thick-headed; stubborn; arrogant; and wildly over-confident.
I doubt Bill even bothers.
Posted by Christopher at October 11, 2006 06:19 AM"GOP = The No Responsiblity Party"
T2, great bumper sticker or yard sign.
Another reason to be incensed. The GOP is again using family members of 9/11 as spokespeople. A new campaign ad for the Republicans is running in St. Louis with Todd Beamer's Father telling us that only the Republicans are tough on terrorists. Shame of Todd's Father.
Posted by Judith at October 11, 2006 06:55 AMMy slight respect for McCain just went out the door with his Rovish blame-game against Billary on the North Korean atom bomb. No John, it is your commander-in-chief's fault for doing nothing for six years.

I felt sorry for the smegma yesterday, and then realized that it meant I had to redouble my efforts to get the criminals unemployed and help them to prison. I will never let up again, not for the remainder of my life. if we let these criminals survive, we will lose our world, plain and simple

Defazio
It's amazing to me that anyone can get away with claiming that direct talks with the US are a reward to NK
Its junior high Bully mentality. All this administration knows. Talking to someone you think you have superiority over is a sign of weakness.
Just when I can't think I can be more amazed at the mindset of Little Boots:
another bit from "State of Denial"
Disgusting on so man levels I wont even bother to comment other than say; This is the person the media and 30% of the people in this country continue to prop up? After reading that I'm almost thinking that we are actually lucky that things aren't worse than they are atm.
Posted by Simp at October 11, 2006 09:13 AMHillary is the muddled middle, TV-oriented, pseudo-liberal whom the right will love to bash, and whom our corporate masters realize will never, ever (even if she won) rock their boat or trouble their sleep.
If the Dems nominate her, we deserve McCain.
Posted by baked potato at October 11, 2006 09:43 AMKneecap the bastard? I hear Tanya Harding and her bodyguard are looking for some beer money.
Who wants a first lady who stole drugs from charity to feed her habit? Hillory should have given him a Keating high 5.
Posted by TIKI AL at October 11, 2006 09:45 AMIf you desire a progressive response from Hillary then start covering her statements in comparison to Feingold's and stop giving her the easy mark with McCain. If you are truly progressive, why not support the candidate who is the most viable possibility to carry your issues.
The big one is two years away so there is no reason to minimize Feingold's candidacy when it provides some powerful leverage for progressive positions. Why in hell would a progressive vote for Hillary in the first place ? Because we've 'had enough' ? If you're really progressive stop doing the centrist's work, they have plenty of money and airtime to get their message out.
They surely don't need any help from true progressives or they would appeal to our interests directly rather than threatening us with McCain. Move the fucking frame to the left please !
Posted by self at October 11, 2006 09:46 AMIf the Dems nominate her, we deserve McCain.

Posted by phidipides at October 11, 2006 09:58 AMSimp, thanks for the link. So, the boy king had to ask Bandar why he should "care about NK." F*cking unbelievable. I don't think Little Boots even knew we had American soldiers on the border. Oh how I long for an intelligent, articulate president. This guy can't get any stupider.
Posted by Judith at October 11, 2006 10:09 AMStupider is a new word I just made up. Bush said at his Press Conference, when asked "what happens when diplomancy runs out," that "it nevers runs out." WTF? Sure ran out fast for Iraq.
Posted by Judith at October 11, 2006 10:14 AMYou go Steve. Well put. WTF are these guys doing? Have you caught Kerry lately. He seems to have gotten the message, and has that "in your face" attitude that is refreshing.
Posted by Bad Ass at October 11, 2006 10:58 AMLaura Bush bought a parrot for George's birthday. She told Dick Cheney, "The bird is so smart! George has already taught him to mispronounce over 200 words!"
"Wow, that's pretty impressive," Cheney said. "But you realize that he just says the words. He doesn't understand what they mean."
"That's okay," Laura replied. "Neither does the parrot."
Posted by ann at October 11, 2006 11:36 AMSince Lou Dobbs was one of the founders of CNN he probably has retained a big hand in the say so dept. What I heard from him last night was encouragement to voters not to vote Rep or Dem but to go Independent. This is not the cycle to divide the Dem party Lou.
I realize politics has alot to do with timing and when I watch Hillary's reponse you can tell she's gauging just how hungry the Dems, the Independents and old hand Rep's are for leadership. She's waiting for the cymbols to crash before she steps in with her sword of deliverance. Right about now I'm thinkin this Country is pretty damn hungry for leadership.

Bush says U.S. Won't Attack North Korea
That is the headline of an AP article that hit the wires just over an hour ago. It is currently the top headline on many news sites. Anyone who listened to the press conference, however, knows that the headline is misleading. From the AP article itself: Bush said the United States remains committed to diplomacy but also "reserves all options to defend our friends in the region." Reserving all options does not sound like he has ruled out the possibility of a military response. What Bush actually said was that the U.S. "has no intention of attacking" North Korea. Where have we heard that phrase before? In 2002 Bush repeatedly claimed that he had "no intention of attacking Iraq."
Read more at Media Pundit.
somebody bringing up Tanya Harding in the context of Hillary forces me to tell this one: A man goes to bed with Tanya Harding, Lorena Bobbit and Hillary all at the same time. When he wakes up he has no penis, a broken knee and no health insurance. Seriously, though Hillary sucks. How can she run as a feminist when her main claim to fame is her husband?
Posted by howard hughes blues at October 11, 2006 01:04 PMOkay, okay. Here's one for the "Smartest Man in America."
A plane is about to crash. There are 5 passengers on board, but there are only 4 parachutes.
The first passenger says "I am Ronaldo, the best football player in the world. The football world needs me, and I cannot die on my fans." He grabs the first parachute and jumps out of the plane.
The second passenger, Hillary Clinton, says: "I am the Wife of the former President of the US. I am the senator of New York and I have a good chance of being President of the US in the future." She grabs a parachute and jumps off the plane.
The third passenger, George W. Bush, says: "I am the President of the US and I have huge responsibilities in the world. Besides, I am the smartest President in the history of my Country and can't shun the responsibility to my people by dying. He grabs a pack and jumps out of the plane.
The fourth passenger, the Pope, says to the fifth passenger, a young school boy: "I am old. I have lived my life as a good person and so I shall leave the last parachute to you as you have your whole life ahead.
The little boy replies: "Don't fret old man...
There is a parachute for both of us!
The smartest President of America just took my schoolbag."
good one j, i like the fact that you're cursing more these days too ... get pissed and stay piss ! most don't smell it but we're all swirling down this waste pipe .... cheers
Mark, actually I am not very proud of my use of four letter words. However, some days I am not in any mood to put up with stupid trolls.
