We brought back some of our guys from SK to CO's Fort Carson. They stayed a while, now they're going to Iraq.

What we need to be worried about is the predictability of Bush/Cheney.
Posted by wlgriffi at October 12, 2006 06:45 PMHuman life means nothing to Bush and Cheney. Heaven help us if they discover oil in North Korea.

Kim is a pretty good negotiator.
Bush/Cheney are not.
The losers, Bush/Cheney, may resort to unconventional responses.
I'd be more worried about the losers.
Posted by Sky-Ho at October 12, 2006 06:55 PMI can just hear Bush and Cheney now ...
"52K Americans and 1M civilians? .... HooYaa, NOW we're talking about a REAL war."
Like Cookie Monster said, those two could give a shite about other humans and I said above it probably ENCOURAGES them.
Gawd I hate those bastards.
Posted by Howd at October 12, 2006 07:02 PMHell, there are 4+ billion people in the world!
What's a million here or there?
Aren't y'all gettin' tired of watching grainy film fottage of the World War II carnage?
Posted by snark at October 12, 2006 07:05 PMKorea lost 4 million in the last Korean fiasco, but China lost 1 million, and I don't think they will let that happen again.
China will bend over backwards to preserve the almighty trade imbalance with us.
Posted by TIKI AL at October 12, 2006 07:25 PMSince we were so gracious to provide nuclear material to NK in the 90's. Maybe we should donate say 10 bombs to the Japanese for defense purposes. They're more endangered than we are with the range of so many of NK's misfires. Let them use their influence and allow them to pressure the Chinese from a position of power. Little Kim wants to test, the Japanese and Chinese can carry the water and impress upon him not to do this stuff.

Snark, yep. Let's get us some new footage for Movie Night at the White House.

Short on facts again I see.
Posted by snark at October 13, 2006 05:50 AMBush Authoritarians don't read anything objective on any subject whatever. Ever.
Short on facts, dead certain about their ignorant opinions. A deadly combination, and the principal reason our democracy has failed.
Posted by euzoius at October 13, 2006 06:29 AMSince we were so gracious to provide nuclear material to NK in the 90's.
That's funny...because it was Pakistan (our ally in the war on terra) who sold them the bomb.
And does anyone recall how much BushCo paid NK a couple of years back when all this nuke talk began? I mean, I know we don't 'negotiate with terrorists" but it seems to me there was a big payoff to keep NK from getting the bomb and wow...now they have one. Does this mean that the US provided aid to terrorists? You decide....
Posted by ann at October 13, 2006 06:48 AMSince we were so gracious to provide nuclear material to NK in the 90's.
NK developed their first bomb under Bush I. James Baker gladly gave up that fact.
And does anyone recall how much BushCo paid NK a couple of years back when all this nuke talk began?
Yes. $94 million U.S. dollars 3 weeks after the the Mad King, idiot son of George, said they were part of the Axis of Evil. But the Mad King was wise in his ways. He removed the stipulation for IAEA observation of NK's nuclear program and independent confirmation that NK wasn't building a bomb...you know, the stipulation that BJ guy, Clinton, put in place so as to prevent NK from building a plutonium bomb (since they built their first nuke under Bush I, as I indicated before).
Posted by phidipides at October 13, 2006 08:27 AMI'm in favor of whacking Kim Jong Ill and his ruling caste and letting the chips fall where they may.
That rotten little fucker deserves to be evicted from this planet, pronto.
Posted by God Of War at October 13, 2006 09:16 AMwhat's your basis for the "first bomb" comment phidipides? That's counter to everything I've read.
Posted by euzoius at October 13, 2006 09:30 AMGod Of War:
Why are you so disturbed by Km Jong Il's action? He simply does not want to go down like Saddam did. As a member of 'Axis of Evil" club, only way to prevent regime change by US is to have a nuclear weapon. If Saddam had one, do you think Bush/Cheney would have dared to attack Iraq? Why do you think the other member of Axis of evil club (Iran) is insisting on going ahead with nuclear program?
Admit it that our government made the sitution in NK and Iran go from bad to worst.
Posted by suresh at October 13, 2006 09:37 AMWhy are you so disturbed by Km Jong Il's action?
*****
Because he's an evil little punkass bitch who deserves to be worm food.
You are aware, I assume, what he's done to his own people?
Posted by God Of War at October 13, 2006 12:44 PMDescribing an authoritarian leader as "evil" and bemoaning what they've "done to their own people".....where have we heard that before?
What authors and histories of N Korea have you been reading, GOW?
Suresh, good points.
Posted by euzoius at October 13, 2006 05:10 PMYou are aware, I assume, what he's done to his own people?
He allows millions of them to wallow in poverty?
But shit, if they can't take care of themselves then they shouldn't be blaming the government right?
Posted by snark at October 13, 2006 06:41 PMThe Carter, Haff-bright, and Clinton nuke deal went sour and good ole Kim Jong gave the US the finger. Bush did well to start the Axis of Evil regime change cowboy diplomacy but failed to follow through with NK and Iran. Now, because of his delay, we have a NK with nukes (they should have been blasted when they started processing) and Iran is on the way to getting their nukes. Leftist ideology has no answer and no plan for "evil" dictators. Talks, negotiations, and other useless tactics do nothing and only embolden our enemies (since we come as weaklings). Like it or not, there are evil people and evil governments (though Libs only think the US is evil...go figure). There is no talk with madmen. As we saw with NK, they will lie, take our reactors, and build nukes anways. Thank God there were some brave souls in the World to oppose Germany and Japan in WWII.
