Comments: American Dead and Wounded from the Iraq War

Would knowing the precise number

Since the end of the second World War 35 million civilians world-wide have been killed as a direct result of American intervention. Assuring corporate hegemony comes at a great price that others must pay.

Do you know how many of your own have perished?

Close to 10,000 Americans in Afghanistan and Iraq. The obfuscation of the actual death count has been a real excercise in proving the lunaacy of the neo-con and republi-con right.

I've been reading Riverbend since day one, and the hardest part was watching her go from hopeful to hopeless these past few years. The only thing more painful than reading her posts is checking every day, and not finding a new one, and the worry that comes with it. Thanks, paradox, for reminding people she's still there.

As does iamcoyote, Thanks for the reminder, paradox.

Sad, sad state of affairs.

our leaders are not that, but children that don't realize what it is to play war for real. they get their grownup on, and realize that killing is worth it if they make money. and somehow, we allow these types to act for us?
does anyone doubt why the various "lights" that appear in our atmosphere do not wish for contact?
not me. I can see how stupid I am. I am also ignorant. I can fix only the one

I included the latest post from "A Star In Mosul" in my blogpost today, titled "Iraq:Perception Vs. Reality"

In the latest Newsweek poll, there are still 46% of Americans who cannot admit that invading Iraq was a mistake.

I also included another account from within Iraq and speculated why so many do not have the true picture of what is happening there.

It is at http://scootmandubious.blogspot.com/2006/10/iraq-perception-vs-reality.htmlt:

As for casualty figures, how about Bush's equating 655,000 Iraqi deaths with 30,000? For more on Bush's fuzzy math:

Thank God she is all right. She'd been absent for so long - two and a half months - that I was fearing the worst.

johnf, after the August post, I was hoping her family would be able to move out of the country, but it doesn't look like that's so.

I was so shattered and heartbroken after the 04 stolen election, I sent River an email saying what I felt but really had no words

I wish she could be in a room with War Psycho Pussies Chimp, Dick, Rummy, Condi, the whole criminal gang - she wouldn't have to beat their asses in some usual physical way (though she probably could) - just one fucking look and one fucking word and they and their murderous bullshit would melt like the wicked witch

Thanks for this post para, and gods keep you, Riverbend
