But....but...but Bush has met his goal of cutting the deficit in half....
Posted by snark at October 23, 2006 06:18 AMIn a camapign where the GOP is pushing an anti-tax line AGAIN, the Democratic Party should be making 30-second spots with just $10,000 in white on a black background syaing that this is what your war in Iraq is costing you.
Posted by idiosynchronic at October 23, 2006 06:29 AMIf the people knew that Bush purchased land in Paraguay, the one place that agreed not to try Americans for war crimes, or that our privatized mercenary army is a law unto itself even as it takes taxpayer funds to line its pockets, or that all that stuff you learned in civics class about the honor of the American flag is just so much bullshit, and we are the worst hypocrites around, well, gee, there might be a revolution and then the coporate owners of our government might not be able to enslave the masses the way they do right now. Family values, yeah right. 60-70 hour workweeks don't leave much time for reflection.
Posted by Sharon at October 23, 2006 06:36 AMHey, add in the $1 trillion a year in corporate welfare, the $400 billion a year to service the debt, doubling of consumer energy costs, healthcare crises, education crisis, expanding military budget...I mean, the list of Bushco accomplishments just grows. Add in torture, abandoning the Bill of Rights, ending diplomacy, retrenchment on Veteran's benefits, lobbys writing all key ("key" as in key to the treasury vault) legislation, I mean, what's not to like? At least republi-cons are more moral than.......never mind.
A least the wingers have the one thing they can all agree with. No one, and I mean no one, fucks with America! By God, we showed them in Afghanistan and Iraq! Maybe these aren't good examples. North Korea! By God, we showed them...
Impeach this bastard administration. Conscience demands it.
Posted by phidipides at October 23, 2006 06:38 AMApparently Bush is gonna change the focus from 'All terror all the time' to 'the booming ecomony' for the last two weeks before the election.
Here's the question I'd like to hear a journalist ask him;
Mr. President, you're now travelling the country tauting the strong economy. You've spoken about the shrinking deficit and your stated goal of reducing it by half. My question is why is it that five years after the attacks of September 11th and after nearly four years of military operations in Iraq that all the expenditures for those operations are still off-budget expenditures that do not appear as part of the annual deficit picture and in fact allow you to claim that the annual deficit has been reduced only by not including billions of dollars that the government is spending on the socalled 'signature policies' of your administration in those numbers?

Posted by Mister Go at October 23, 2006 07:26 AMThe problem with living in a perpetual state of paranoia is that even the real exit from such a state appears hopelessly suspect. Just another deception waiting to draw you in ehh scout?
Posted by snark at October 23, 2006 07:31 AMsnark, don't encourage the trolls! You just know he's preparing his 5 page essay on the latest and greatest conspiracy theory. Just what we need: fear and loathing in Amish country! Hilarity ensues.
So, which is it today, for Bush? Stay the Course or Adapt to Win? What a putz.

[Editor: ignore=off]snarky, please, how can you call one paranoid when we've killed off hundreds of thousands of people? And then turn around and call them 'terrorists' because they are defending themselves against our state terror?
Did I call someone a terrorist? You are most certainly paranoid delusional as is evident in every comment you post here.
Ignore the demon queen coyote; she is why we are in this mess, to be sure. For you see, 100 years ago the corp lords envisioned a majority of brain dead icons called, 'coyote figures.' These little punks can't lose.
I rest my case.
