While georgie boy peddles his hypocrisy, the first lady peddles hers!
On Michael J. Fox, “It’s always easy to manipulate people’s feelings, especially when you are talking about diseases that are so difficult.”
"Sorry Skippy, but I don’t think it will sell outside of the Stepford rallies."
You are so right, Steve. I saw a snippet of the subhuman huckster selling the war and a candidate. I guess the braindead are buying but everyone else is repulsed. Vote Republicon! We'll keep killing!
Question: My son recently returned from Iraq. Our family (to include my son) votes Democractic. If the reasoning goes, if Democrats win the terrorists win, does that mean Democrats in the military need no longer be subject to service in Iraq as presumably we can't be trusted? Just asking.
Posted by nlacey at October 31, 2006 09:22 AMIsn't it funny how every Republican't wants to know what the Democratic plan is for getting out of Iraq - and yet Republican'ts can't tell us what plan, if any, they have?
Posted by (: Tom :) at October 31, 2006 09:31 AMIf the Dem's don't have a plan, how can the GOP call them cut and run? The commander and cheif is the one who has to have a plan not congress.
Posted by goose1 at October 31, 2006 09:40 AM...the Democratic plan is for getting out of Iraq...
Well, the first step is removing from the patient the invasive cancerous growth that caused the problem in the first place. That process can begin on November 7th. Once that has been accomplished the new medical team can evaluate the patient and establish a course of treatment.
Posted by snark at October 31, 2006 09:45 AMWith Bush it's all tricks and no treat. I've been watching Broken Government on CNN and it has been a life-changing experience to see all the dirty tricks coming our way thanks to Carl Rove and his hand puppet in the Oval Office.
Posted by NorCalRINO at October 31, 2006 10:06 AMTime to lace the fucking Kool Aid again.
Posted by God Of War at October 31, 2006 10:15 AMThe idea of "win" is utterly irrelevant given the deterioration in Iraq. I think even "stabilize" or "prevent the collapse of" is beyond the pale. Iraq remains Bush's war of choice and not only is he a bad "decider", he is a lousy "chooser".
Posted by gtash at October 31, 2006 10:43 AMCNN just did a piece on a high school in a small California town losing 4 soldiers in Iraq, with the principal in tears saying it was a streak of incredibly bad luck.
I say to that principal, rather then luck, it is a direct result of a streak of incredibly bad decisions made by the bush administration, and the misguided cult voters who put them there.
Of the 280 California soldiers lost in King George's Crusades, I noticed almost half of the names are Hispanic, and that they do not come from places like Brentwood, Hollywood, La Jolla, or Universal City.
Posted by TIKI AL at October 31, 2006 10:48 AMwin what exactly?..there is nothing to win..there never was...it's all a fucking facade..we are there for iraqi oil...not because of democracy..not because of terrorism..and if our way of life in this country is perceived as threatened by people in this administration and their like..we will bomb..invade..and occupy every fucking country in the middle east if need be..i believe that ..we've already done it
Posted by dennis at October 31, 2006 11:21 AMI've gotta say, whoever wrote these remarks for John Kerry is not someone he should continue to rely on.
“You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.” -John Kerry
Um? The point he was trying to make could hve been delivered with a lot more tact.
what john kery said was the truth for the most part..we all know whos fighting this war for us..and the truth is the truth..something this administration knows nothing about...remember where bush was when he had his chance to serve..and that reptile dick cheney..where the fuck were they when their country needed them.john kerry served his country with honor regardles of the lies they made up...he can say what he wants as far as i'm concerned..he earned it..tony snow..fuck him
Posted by dennis at October 31, 2006 11:43 AM...he can say what he wants as far as i'm concerned..he earned it..
I didn't think one had to earn the right to say what one wants to say in this country. Everyone is free to say what they want to say. But some things have consequences. And I think Kerry's comments were ill advised. As I said, the point he was trying to make could hve been made with a lot more tact.
Posted by snark at October 31, 2006 11:48 AMsnark..i understand your point and perhaps it could have been couched in language a bit...nevertheless it's time for spades to called spades and the fact is it's the under privledged thus under educated..who are the ones called upon to fight wars for men like gw bush and dickless cheney

And there are plenty of well educated members of the services and the National Guard who are fighting this war too. Everyone knows that military service is an attractive choice for those with limited options because they lack the educational opportunities to pursue other paths. Kerry tried to make a quick score out of something that is a complex social problem. And the result is he gave the right something to jump on him for. "Kerry calls our troops dumb!" How many media outlets do you think are gonna give Kerry or anyone else the amount of airtime they need to properly express what needs to be said about the issue of the underpriviledged being a defacto throwaway 'military class' in this country because of limited educational and career opportunities? None.
Posted by snark at October 31, 2006 12:10 PMWell there you are!
Apparently it was a major verbal flub by Kerry.
Kerry was supposed to say, "I can't overstress the importance of a great education. Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq."
The pukes are still gonna run with what he said, and not the correction.
The damage is done.
Posted by snark at October 31, 2006 12:16 PMWhy are you picking on The Great Communicator, Kerry? Things were going too well for the dems, so out of his sense of fairness and the American Way, he tried to level the playing field for less intelligent strategists like Karl Rove.
Posted by TIKI AL at October 31, 2006 12:31 PMAccording to Josh Marshall, it's been wall to wall coverage on CNN. Cos there isn't any other news going on right now.
Posted by iamcoyote at October 31, 2006 12:41 PMThe al Qaeda attacks on 9/11 succeeded because George W. Bush was president after stealing the 2000 election.
If Al Gore had been president instead, then the 9/11 hijackers and their plot would have been stopped...and 3,000 U.S. citizens would be alive today, those killed on 9/11 because the Bush administration was busy planning their attack on Iraq.
If Al Gore had been president in March 2003, no attack against Iraq would have been launched (unless, of course, they had attacked us first)...and close to 3,000 U.S. soldiers would still be alive today, over 30,000 U.S. soldiers would not have been maimed and over 1 million Iraqis would not have been killed or maimed.
If Al Gore had been president instead of the dumbass Bush, then continuity would have been maintained between the outgoing Clinton administration and the incoming Gore administration, especially in regards to counter-terrorism strategies and efforts.
Moreover, I bet President Al Gore, once conclusive evidence was forwarded to his White House about al Qaeda and bin Laden being behind the U.S.S. Cole attack in October 2000, would have followed through on President Clinton's threat to take out the al Qaeda in Afghanistan...which would have impeded the 9/11 plot, especially if bin Laden had either been captured or killed in early 2001.
In other words, while a Bush administration has been a complete disaster for our democracy, a Gore administration would have saved a whole bunch of lives and a whole lot of taxpayer money.
There's so much blood on the hands of the Republicans, they'll never be able to wash them clean.

And yet, like an abused trailer park wife, Gomer MURKA keeps on loving Bush and hating Gore. They seem happier mired in war, incompetence and corruption, with major environmental problems ignored, inexplicably siding with industrial polluters, so long as their authoritarian masters give them scapegoats to hate.
Frankly, I wish Senator Kerry would just sit down and shut up. I was a supporter and worked vigorously on his campaign, but it's clear that he's out there stumping for himself, not the Dems. It's all about Kerry '08, and I wish he'd get it through his head that he's NOT presidential material anymore. In fact, the more I see him without the '04 lens, the more I cringe. Listening to him try to dig himself out of this hole is painful. He wasn't going to apologize before he apologized. Those are memories I don't want to relive. Stop trying to be funny, Kerry, you're just NOT. With so many genuinely bright stars out there for '08 (Obama, Feingold, Clarke), why doesn't Kerry just f***ing move on?!?!?!
