CNN: Saddam Hussein gets death by hanging.

Why did bushco release these verdicts at this time?

Posted by TIKI AL at November 5, 2006 01:13 AM

TIKI, although believing that the man has too many fingers inserted in far too many places to make him scary as bloody hell, I don't think that "bushco" had much to do with this other piece of news.

Just now, and not a while earlier when I first opened the Spanish newspapers, I've found out that today an Iraqi tribunal has handed the penalty of death by hanging to saddam and two of his collaborators. Yeah, saddam's lawyers plan to appeal and, in the mean time, apparently his already more than harassed country its brazing itself for, yet, another expected mess once saddam's supporters learn of the veredict.

God save those poor Iraqis whose only ambition is to feel safe from so many fronts...

was out with my dog walking with a casual acquaintance ..a republican...well off..very intelligent..he knows where i stand..he said that he was ashamed of his party and he hoped this nightmare was finally over..i hope so...what we have done in iraq is a shameful shameful thing..it was about oil and it is going to haunt us for a very long time...sooner we start to fix it the better...for all you trolls..iraq never did and never will have anything to do with 9/11..and portraying it that way is unforgivable

Posted by dennis at November 5, 2006 03:23 AM

PAZ, I do believe bushco had the verdicts released 2 days before the election so we can hear ad nauseam right up to the election what a bad, bad man our old ally Saddam was and how justified the invasion\crusade was.

Corporate cable has already been doing it non-stop since the verdicts were read.

Put your violin down and realize that this is all they have left.

Dig out those pictures of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam, we're going to need them.

CNN: Saddam Hussein gets death by hanging.

Maybe Bush will pardon him?

After all, Little Boots owes his entire place in history as the "wartime president" in the "post-9/11 era" to Saddam.

There's never been a more co-dependent relationship than Bush and Saddam.

You guts see the latest ABC/WashPost poll? The generic is down to 6 points with Iraq at a 42 to 42 level. The President's approval rating is at 43 there. Is this the GOTV effort starting to put that tsunami down? I guess its the higher rocks. Is this the JFKerry effect? Is this the JP Stephens effect? Tuesday's the day, the generic may well close even further. Prepare yourselves for a let down on Tuesday. By the constant drone of your media, I'm already prepared for a takeover of the House. Why is it that ABC seems to be telling the 'truth' more than the other media? Spinmister if you please...a one, two, three, four. "Happy days are here again..."

Whether I have a 232-202-1, or a 223-212, or a 216-219, I'll still be here. Wednesday will see no big change. President Bush will still have a little over two years to serve. True Dennis.

After Tuesday, House Speaker Dennis Hastert (deeply embroiled in the Foley pedophile scandal and coverup) will be forced to hand the gavel to Rep. Nancy Pelosi.

Ms. Pelosi said there will be immediate investigations into Bush lying the country into war, bogus government contracts involving Halliburton and Cheney, and energy.

The Bush junta will be crippled and it will spend the next two years dealing with subpoenas, as it finds itself unable to get any portion of its agenda through a Congress controlled by Democrats.

Bush will wish for a long vacation at the Crawford, TX pig farm, where he can chop brush, drink beer and entertain young men with big muscles.

In Missouri, these are the main issues:

1. Medium Wage Increase:

Proposition B calls for an increase in Missouri’s minimum wage from the federally mandated $5.15 an hour to $6.50 an hour and for an adjustment for inflation every year thereafter.

2. Stem cell Initiative

If passed, Amendment 2, otherwise known as the Missouri Stem Cell Research and Cures Initiative, would ensure that Missouri law would be no more restrictive than federal law in regard to embryonic stem cell research.

The amendment also states that no government employee can interfere with the transfer of public money that has been allocated for lawful stem cell research. It also would prohibit the sale of human eggs or embryos for the purpose of stem cell research, as well as the creation of embryos for that purpose.

3. Tobacco tax increase of .97 cents.

Constitutional Amendment 3 asks voters to decide whether the state’s tobacco tax should be increased to 97 cents from 17 cents per pack of cigarettes and to 30 percent from 10 percent on other tobacco products, such as cigarette papers, smokeless tobacco and cigars. Surprising, many nonsmokers are against this bill.

4. Retiring Talent.

McCaskill, as of this morning is leading (46% to 45%). Close enough to steal with our new Diebold and ES&S voting machines.

By my calculations, the voter turn-out will be very heavy, spurred on by the stem cell issue here in Missouri.

Oh, Dennis, don't ya know that Iraq had all those weapons of mass destruction and they were going to come over here and bomb all our major cities and rape our women, and pillage our Country. Then Saddam was going to take over and make women wear burkas and force everyone to read the Koran. Why Dennis, you should be thankful that our King stopped this scary scenario.

You guts see the latest ABC/WashPost poll?

Like the new Time poll of GOP supporters. Seems real Republicans are less enthusiastic about voting this year. And only 54% of them are willing to pull a republi-con ticket. 38% of evangelicals are supporting Democrats. Male Republicans favor Democrats, and female Republicans favor democrats by a huge majority. Damn, Democrats were widely favored in areas like standing up to lobbyists and understanding the needs of people.

Seems there are some rational Republicans out there. Evangelicals too. Either that, or you republi-con people have no clue what fucks you have been. I vote for the latter.

What makes you think I'll shrink away?

Went to a housewarming party this weekend. I discussed politics with a group who identifed themselves as 'independents'. We have a lot of 'independents' in AZ. 8 out of 8 were voting Democratic across the board. I asked why, all of them said, "bu$h's lying", "sick of bu$h", "incompetence on Katrina", "no checks and balances", "the mishandling of the War". 6 of the 8 had voted for bu$h in the last election! I reminded them bu$h was on the ballot, they said, "A Republican vote, is a vote for bu$h!"
A very eye opening experience. Made me feel confident.

As predicted here, Rove is using immigration as the under-the-radar-screen wedge issue this time around. I'd guess it's the main robo-call message.

Press is failing to cover it, don't know what Dems are doing to counter it.

When you read the words of poisoned-beyond-hope minds like peter's, you can see that we have an enormous political problem on our hands.

Everything about Team Conservative is an empirical failure, a huge disaster for the health of the country and its democracy---but it doesn't matter or register for these "conservative" cultists, there's a game to be played and "lib'ruls" to be hated with blind fury and bottomless rage.

Press is failing to cover it, don't know what Dems are doing to counter it.

I think Dems and Indies understand the ploy. They know the fence bill was a way to pack more money into corporate larders. I think a call from Rove would only serve to scare little kids...and republi-cons. They have similar cognitive development.

"A Republican vote, is a vote for bu$h!"

Exactly.

Hispanic and Latinos have been a part of Oregon culture for so long - as in from the get-go - that the gay, muslim, mexican terrorist schtick doesn't bite (that probably has as much to do with growing up hunting and fishing and fighting, basically fearing nothing but far itself), so our incumbant repub candidate is airing an radio ad claiming his support for his regime's tortlla curtain to prevent the flow of mehtamphetamine across the border.

I'm seeing a surprisingly light amount of political advertising. Most of it is Democrats attacking GOP incumbants. That's in other congressional districts. They seem to be working but I resent the lack of humor since I'm not involved.

In my CG the incumbant is a Republican that seems to be running unapposed. The last 48 hours are critical in this neck of the woods so I won't be surprised if his, (my CG's) stellar record doesn't make the airways starting about now. He supported everything everyone around here is against.

Posted by Bill at November 5, 2006 08:46 AM

"When you read the words of poisoned-beyond-hope minds like peter's, you can see that we have an enormous political problem on our hands."

I refuse to believe that anyone can be as stupid as peter is pretending to be. He must have painted himself into some horrible corner of life, and needs the money the RNC is paying him for blogclogging to get himself out. Or perhaps a gay drug pushing masseur is blackmailing him.

Posted by TIKI AL at November 5, 2006 08:47 AM

Have you been able to, even slightly, change his mind? I remember that has been your goal.

It's hard to tell since part of me doesn't want to know ;). I thought there was a good chance he wouldn't vote--he's usually at work before the polls open up to close to when they close and the polling place isn't near his work. He's a sporadic voter.

We also tend to keep it light and tease each other rather than have a real discussion. I did point out this morning watching one of the Sunday shows, that there were comments that Bush's comment about keeping Rummy (and Cheney--wtf?) showed Bush was completely out of touch with reality. I pointed out the Vanity Fair article and what was in it, etc. I hope I'm chipping away. There's also the issue of not wanting to back down and say he's seen the light, so I'm mentioning how our republican gov seems ok, not sure who I'll vote for in that race, etc, so he can see I'm flexible and not blindly dem. (I think I'm voting for the dem gov. Shh, don't tell him.)

Posted by CG at November 5, 2006 09:03 AM

The first requirement for one to change one's mind is to have a mind to change. Is your mind your own or does it belong to someone else? A lot of people got an opportunity to get their's back that had given it to the evangelical ministery thanks to Haggart. Keeping their minds in the face of threats of hell fire is another question altogether.

The big bucks go to those who lead others to hell and they spend them in the ususal places, gay prostitutes, drugs, you name it, Jimmy Jimmy Jack. Lucky are those who realize where they are headed to hell in time to take evasive action.

There's good news. The evangelicals, the one's headed to hell led by the big buckaroos number 30 million. The ones that openly say they know better now numbers over 42 million and growing at a rapid pace. God is winning as one might expect. At least 1/3 of the evangelicals have the enough good sense left to vote for a Democrat Tuesday. The news is getting better and headed in the right direction.

Thou shalt not patent God! So let the evangelicals have the Devil, a patent on Him even. They deserve Him.

Posted by Bill at November 5, 2006 09:44 AM

This IS "one nation under God." This is NOT one nation under religion. Know the difference between God and religion. They are radically different things.

God can be expected to take a dim view of those who put words into HER mouth. Hattert is just an easy to understand example. He could have said that homosexuality was natural and normal couldn't he? Barney Frank doesn't have his problem. If you got it then maybe you should think about getting rid of it.

We hold these truths to be self evident, all men are created equal INCLUDING Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, Joseph Smith and homosexuals. Nature's God, Lady Liberty has spoken and the wise listen.

In Michigan;

A surge of support from women gave Gov. Jennifer Granholm a double-digit lead over Republican challenger Dick DeVos in a race for governor that's entered its final 48 hours.

Granholm's overall 54% to 41% lead is fueled by her 26 percentage-point margin among women, according to the Detroit Free Press-Local 4 Michigan Poll. DeVos has a 1 percentage-point margin among men.

The Free Press-Local 4 poll shows Granholm held a 17-point edge among independent voters, who likely will decide the outcome of the race.

Riverbend has weighed in on Saddam's verdict.

Posted by iamcoyote at November 5, 2006 10:22 AM

“PAZ, I do believe bushco had the verdicts released 2 days before the election so we can hear ad nauseam right up to the election what a bad, bad man our old ally Saddam was and how justified the invasion\crusade was”

True, TIKI, we’ll hear ad nauseam, and giving him more power than he may have now with this other puppet “government”, perhaps bushco could have made the Iraqis stop disseminating the verdict if he so wished. A rather important something that I have no doubt the man of the hour would have tried to do had it helped him, or his party, in any way to so do.

Now the important thing is to neutralize any attempt to use this, yet, another handy diversion since, and thus according to the angelical gurus of war that try to make the vile hordes of this poor world swallow this pile of unmitigated crap, the preemptive war that was unleashed against Iraq was due to WMD’s. Yep, apparently saddam HAD the evil (but never found) WMD’s and was capable of dropping them without a bat on an eye. Moreover, as I recall, according to good old tony (the supreme lap-dog) it would take 45min or so for saddam to strike the UK if he so wished. With a wee bit more time involved in the equation (after all, one has to take distance into some sort of account) the same wild notion was pretty much sold to make the case for war here—never mind paying any bloody mind to what the UN weapons inspectors were saying, and even less bloody mind for telling the truth.

But, regardless, the truth of the matter is that the entire world has known that this verdict was due to come to light around now.

Besides, simply remembering how other trials have gone it appears that, by their very nature, some can become as lengthy as bloody hell, and most particularly those in which the heads of nations are at stake (Milosevic?)

Well, as has been the case, it seems that saddam’s couldn’t have been different. So, after the assassination of some of his lawyers, after the repeated postponements, after the expected court antics, and after the bloody lot, I think the time when judgment would take place was hard to pinpoint by even the best of the predictors (or holy seers, as bushco?)

Considering that the man is a murdering machine, with this verdict one should think that justice has been served. Yet, in order to be as just as justice deserves to be, as far as I’m concerned this will not seem one such until the heads of others (just as murderous as saddam, if not more so), also end up where they belong—on the chopping block.

Unkind words coming from an unrelenting pacifist, I know, but for a few years already my old solid dependence on some sort of divine justice has been eroded a whole lot. Pity, it used to be such refuge…

Former Pastor Ted Haggard:
"The fact is I am guilty of sexual immorality. And I take responsibility for the entire problem. I am a deceiver and a liar. There's a part of my life that is so repulsive and dark that I have been warring against it for all of my adult life,"

Posted by Seven of Six at November 5, 2006 11:04 AM

I’ve read Riverbend’s take (thanks iamcoyote) and, obviously, I’m humbled. As a matter of fact, I admit to TIKI et al to being as stupid as they can imagine.

Still, my question is: is anyone in this entire world of ours surprised that saddam was found guilty and sentenced to die?

If the news of his verdict (and even the time it has come out) is a surprise to anyone (including those who only listen to what the idiot tube has to say to base their knowledge on everything) then perhaps the fight was lost before it was started.

The only hope then is that those who are going to try to wrestle power from the omnipotent were also ready for this type of news to hit the airwaves and, without trying to appease any faction with diversions of, for instance, how the wording is made to make it more palatable, will have the gumption to put things into perspective an point fingers were fingers must be pointed.

In sum, to neutralize and use any media opportunity to point out what must be pointed out.

That this war, in which so many innocent American and Iraqi victims have been lost, was unleashed due to WMD’s.

Due to WMD’s which were never there and also due to blatant lies to make the case for war—a war in which so many innocent American and Iraqi victims have been lost.

Due to blatant lies since, had the truth and only the truth been told, one should hope that this horrible war in which so many innocent American and Iraqi victims have been lost would have never taken place.

A war that has maimed the US standing in the world.

A war that, as things are, is going to be lost garnering more innocent American and Iraqi victims, let alone the resulting chaos that leaving things utterly messed up can expect to see.

For some odd reason, I have faith that the truth will set the not only the USA, but the entire world free. Hope I’m not disappointed, again…

In our local State house race we rec'd a robo-call from the Dem incumbent...went something like this:

"I am so sorry to bother you at home, this is [incumbent] I would not bother you at home except the Republican attacks have been vicious. If you have any questions at all, or would like me to clear anything up, this is my home phone number, 555-5555 (then repeated the number) thank you so much for your time."

It was so classy, clean, simple and impressive.

I think that we should all contact every single Dem up for election and have them repeat this robo-call. It would be good to offer the people a number to call to "clear-up" the bullshit.

Contact the DNC, DCCC & DSCC as well.

I think it is a good way to combat the bullshit coming from these desperate Pukes.

About the polls - they are bullshit. Like I said before, they are reporting "margins narrowing" so that they will have an explanation for the stolen elections.

In Houston Texas, janitors are on strike fighting for higher wages; anything above the minimum wage they get.
Most earn as little as $ 20.00 a day and have families to feed.
The current immigration policy does not help the illegals who have to work at these poor jobs for minimum pay and live in poverty nor the tax payers who pay for the social needs of these needy folks. See my blog at patnox.com for more.
