Heh, the last two days I have had a hell of a time logging onto TLC.
Quite often I get "server unavailable" windows error message.
Not to be too conspiracy minded, but is this me - or another dirty trick?
Posted by Anjha at November 6, 2006 06:53 AMHm. That hasn't been the case for me, Anjha. I'd suspect your local internet provider of having problems locally.
Unless they give heavily to GOP intrests.
Posted by idiosynchronic at November 6, 2006 07:53 AMI have to say that I'm grudgingly admiring this robocalling scam. It takes the campaign completely out of the realm of political issues, and turns it into a question of trying to get voters pissed off at the opponent who won't leave them alone. It's really quite brilliant, wrong tho it may be.

[Editor: ignore=off]Anjha, I'm zipping along in and out of the site with no problem. Maybe one of your internet tubes is clogged? Clear your cache and cookies then see what happens. Can't hurt.
Personally, I'm calling my republi-con aquaintances and asking "Why do all those republicans like to have sex with underage boys?" I'm calling NRCC and asking the same question.
No fun to be had in my state. No national ads. Only the local stuff where democ-rats and republi-cons are competing to show how conservative and close to Jesus they are. Pandering fucking nonsense. Nothing a good Al Capone baseball game wouldn't cure.
Posted by phidipides at November 6, 2006 08:07 AMdj, sadly, the 'puke brilliance is limited only to criminal activities. When it comes to actually making the world a better place to live for all humans, the rightwing christofascists are strangely silent. Obviously, the only future they care about is their own.
Posted by iamcoyote at November 6, 2006 08:13 AMI'd suspect your local internet provider of having problems locally.
So, are you saying that it is probably local, confined and limited to my own territory, and can be solved locally, through something geographically close?
Maybe one of your internet tubes is clogged?
Could be. Have been stuck using someone else's tubes for the last week. With the number of people on these tubes, it is amazing that anything, at all, can slide through.
I also had serious trouble over the past couple days reaching a few sites, including this one.
Posted by dj moonbat at November 6, 2006 08:41 AMdo you think this is lawful?
or is it just "legal"
is it something we want to stop?

Posted by TIKI AL at November 6, 2006 09:08 AMConsume or free the resource: If it's a dem robocall, hang up freeing their resource. If it's a repub call then place the phone on the table. Don't forget to hang it up after 5 minutes.
I have to say that I'm grudgingly admiring this robocalling scam.

Once again - my co-bloggers hit it on the head. It's incredible what these people think of during each campaign as fresh tactics (and what screws over the Dems), and you have to admire those sneaky weasels. But the same operatives seem to have absolutely no idea how on how to actually run a country effectively with even a facade of fairness.
The GOP: All campaign, no government. So to speak.

Me too!
The GOP: All campaign, no government. So to speak.
And the money wasted could have probably saved Social Security or started another war!
Posted by Seven of Six at November 6, 2006 10:05 AM"There is no act criminal enough for today's Republican party leadership."
And this is a surprise?
This is the party of Harding (Teapot Dome scandal), Nixon (Watergate), Reagan (Iran hostages, S&L, IranContra), Bush41 (IranContra) and Bush43 & Cheney (not enough room here to list em all).
"Amoral" is the new black for the GOP.

Be sure they are Democratic political robo-calls calls, Tiki. The robo-calls in question are made to sound like they are from Dems; the sponsorship information is at the end of the call - and most people hang up before then.

No, I'm just admiring the sheer artistry that these guys bring to bear in the field of stealing elections. I like watching museum heist movies, too; it doesn't mean I think stealing is a good thing.
Posted by dj moonbat at November 6, 2006 11:04 AMI love watching creatively destructive people at work. Sad as it makes me sound. And the GOP electioneers are real amoral artists. They'd pimp their own daughters and mothers to keep a dem or dem-leaner from voting. And make them keep any resulting children. Pro-life, y'know.
Posted by idiosynchronic at November 6, 2006 12:19 PMWell. The Dems should pay attention. And learn. And remember.
This is where they oughta learn the "go for the throat, kick em in the balls" way of doing things that the Reps have perfected so well.
Maybe sooner (rather than later) they'll figure out that the other side means business.
Posted by Alex at November 6, 2006 12:40 PMIf Dems haven't paid attention and learned by now, they are special ed candidates.
As for Dems remembering, we'll be on the ash heap of history if we fail tomorrow, as will American democracy.
Posted by euzoius at November 6, 2006 01:00 PMIt's all moot if people are not registered, and I don't recall any great effort to do that months ago, as in the past presidential elections.
Apathy needs incentive, and I don't think a voter lottery is enough.
A major escalation of the war with a military draft and absolutely no deferments might free up some "Tuesday time" for some apathetic young morons.
