Lieberman won in Connecticut? Tell me it 'aint so ... how could Connecticut voters be so STUPID???
Posted by jra at November 7, 2006 06:49 PMThe majority of slimey joe's votes came from reptillians.
Posted by TIKI AL at November 7, 2006 06:57 PMTIKI's right. Look at the low numbers for the 'puke. Bummer, but not unexpected. I wanna see Burns go down, though.
Posted by iamcoyote at November 7, 2006 07:06 PMMacaca pulls it out - what's that about? And Jr Ford is going down hard in TN, good riddance...do we really need a black Lieberman?
Posted by barrisj at November 7, 2006 07:12 PMMacaca pulls it out - what's that about?
That one is still too close to call, I think, with a couple of pretty strong Dem precincts not yet reporting. And...VA had a gay marriage ban on the ballot as well, so the fundies will be out in force. This one is a nailbiter!
Posted by ann at November 7, 2006 07:25 PMBummed about Lamont.
Posted by snark at November 7, 2006 07:28 PMI've crunched the Virginia numbers and it looks like Webb might finish with about a 10,000 vote edge. Keeps your fingers crossed.
Posted by Blue In Texas at November 7, 2006 07:32 PMI am simply tickled shitless that 'Man on Dog' bit it big.
I've crunched the Virginia numbers and it looks like Webb might finish with about a 10,000 vote edge. Keeps your fingers crossed.
Tell us your methodology.
Posted by phidipides at November 7, 2006 07:38 PMann, I'm with you, Webb's close...fingers crossed.
Posted by iamcoyote at November 7, 2006 07:44 PMHow is possible that Chafee is gone and Lieberman stays? There is something so very, very wrong in this. Just for fun, I flipped to Fox and what were they showing? Lieberman's acceptance speech. What do you want to bet he's the only Dem, er....Independent that they show accepting?
Posted by ann at November 7, 2006 07:48 PMWebb went from 26K votes down, with 5% of precincts remaining; to about 12.5K votes down, with 3% remaining. Not a pretty scenario, but...
Posted by dj moonbat at November 7, 2006 08:19 PMAnd I'm looking at the numbers coming in, and in a lot of the races that CNN hasn't called yet, the Dem looks pretty solid. I won't be surprised by a 25-seat pickup anymore. I wouldn't let myself believe it earlier, but it does seem to be happening.
Posted by dj moonbat at November 7, 2006 08:25 PMCall me crazy but CNN has Steele leading Cardin in Maryland with 48% reporting but they've already called it for Cardin.
WTF?
Posted by snark at November 7, 2006 08:25 PMThey're not relying much on the returns. They trust their previous polling. Earlier tonight, I saw several examples of that, including Menendez in NJ and Lieberman in CT. Let's hope they're right in this case.
Posted by dj moonbat at November 7, 2006 08:34 PMSteele isn't giving up.
Melhman was just on CNN, talking up Steele for about 2 minutes. Watch for some last minute shennanigans in MD!
With 67% reported, Cardin now has a 6% lead in voting over Steele, so CNN's weird projections still have yet to go wrong.
Posted by dj moonbat at November 7, 2006 09:01 PMSo wow: Webb's pulling ahead for the photo finish?
Posted by dj moonbat at November 7, 2006 09:07 PMIf Webb can hang on it looks like a potential 50-50 in the Senate with Cheney forced to break a bunch of ties. Piece of shit.
Although which ever way it goes I'm sure Virginia is gonna be subject to some recount challanges.
Posted by snark at November 7, 2006 09:12 PMAssuming Lieberman decides to act like a Democrat.
Posted by snark at November 7, 2006 09:13 PMSnark, You know lieberman is going to enjoy his status, being courted by the Repukes and the Dems.
Why, he'll be the belle of the ball!
Assuming Lieberman decides to act like a Democrat.
Which is approximately like assuming that a remora will act like a shark.
Posted by dj moonbat at November 7, 2006 09:24 PMHe really creamed Lamont. It'll definitely be interesting to see what Lieberman does. He was so adamant about "I'm a Democrat" that I think he will be under a certain amount of pressure to behave. Then again, another six years and he might be thinking this is it for me, I'm done after this at which point all bets are off. I think he behaves though. The writing is on the wall for Bushco. There's no future sucking up to any of them.
Posted by snark at November 7, 2006 09:34 PMI think he behaves though.
Make an example of him anyway. Then everyone else will behave.
He should be subject to the same sort of treatment the Republicans gave Clinton -- endless investigations, harassment, pressure. Who wants him for another six years? Try to find something to hang on him and get rid of him earlier. He betrayed his party for personal ego and payback time is not yet over -- not until his skin is nailed to the wall.
Posted by sagesource at November 7, 2006 09:51 PMLeiberman would not have won if he didn't run on his GOP lite agenda. I wonder if the Dems suck up and offer some nice chair seats.
Personally, I say kick him to the curb and treat him like a incoming freshman Independent Senator. Find out how hard he wants to get along and get it out of the way.
Find out how hard he wants to get along and get it out of the way.
I agree. Put the screws to him. If the Dems don't have an outright majority they're in the same position they've been for the past 6 years anyway. So why not.
Posted by snark at November 7, 2006 09:57 PMWhoa! McCaskill has closed the gap on Talent. The Dems are still alive in the three remaining Senate races. That could affect the Lieberman calculus. How big do you think the smug smirk on Joe's face is right about now?
