Posted by Goyo at November 8, 2006 06:59 AMRove was interviewed on NPR last week and rudely interrupted the host to insist that the poll numbers everyone else was seeing weren't accurate and that he had "THE" numbers, that showed republicans maintaining a majority in the House. I can't believe the sweeps I'm seeing this morning. Simply marvelous. I can't believe the GOP got tossed as badly as it did even at the local level.
And here's a big, BIG hand to eri this morning. You did fantastic work, blog cousin.

[Editor: ignore=off]The Dem p/u's in Kentucky, Idaho and Indiana are astonishing. I didn't even bother to follow those races because I assumed they would remain Repukes.
The WH needs to situp and take note: this election isn't merely a repudiation of the Iraq war, GOP corruption and debt -- it's a rebuke of George W. Bush and all he represents.
Posted by Christopher at November 8, 2006 08:06 AMscout must be the only dismayed "Democrat" in America today. Very telling.
Paperless touch screens apparently failed spectacularly in FL-13, with around 10,000 undervotes (no vote recorded) by the machine.
Vile Repub clinging to a 400 vote lead, with machines not registering 10,000 votes in the race.
Off to those FL courts!

Posted by dennis at November 8, 2006 08:32 AMMany thanks to eriposte, Mary, paradox, pess (wherever he may be), dj moonbat, soccerdad, and especially Steve Soto, for this wonderful the left coaster blog. When the criminality of the administration was too much to bear I could always come here and find a few like-minded individuals, and rant and rave at the administration and the republi-con idiots in Congress.
The wonderful patriots and true Americans here --Judith, snark, Tiki, Christopher, anjha, quidam, herbal tee, idiosynchronic, emal, 7-o-6, mal feasance, euozius, dennis, gtash, benjoya, J. E. Powell...can't leave scout out...(and all of the others I can't remember at the moment, please don't take offense)-- made this long dark period bearable.
Very sincerely, thanks!
P.S.
I even appreciate the trolls --bag-bot, bend-over-eato, Trolby Putzhold, peter, muckfrog (and all of the has-beens who couldn't take an argument)-- because they allowed me into their respective psyche(s) so that I could continually reconfirm how the rot in the republi-con party ran so deep in some people. I will not debase myself by saying (in a Cartman voice), "Nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah! You guys are a bunch of losers!" I will just keep it to myself and, instead, think it as a lovely thought.
Peace out
How many of those newly won seats go away after the 2010 census? A bunch, they're heading south with some going southwest. DLC'er Rahm Emmanuel crafted this victory by moving towards the center, not the left. There are newly elected Democrats that will not support SF Nancy for Speaker. The House will be more conservative, not GOP conservative, but conservative. America is growing more conservative. The DLC'ers seem to be more correct for the Party. Y'all have to admit that. Without Rahm, where would you be today?
Where are all those court challenges you were talking about yesterday? There were some voting device problems, but on the whole it seems the Diebold, ES&S amongst other methods gave us a fair count. Nobody stole anything folks. Your victories last night should confirm that. 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2006 all legitiment victories for the victors. Fair counts for all by all. Sure there were some minor mischief in a few places, but a fair count has happened. Our technology has not been misappropriated to give one a victory over another.
The people spoke yesterday, their wishes were seen by all. America's voice for the day rang in Democrats in many places not seen in a long time. Congrats to those who won this hard fought battle! It is but a day. In 2004, we were told not to get too cocky. We did....and paid for it last night. So my exhortation to y'all is the very same. "Don't get too cocky now kid." Enjoy the day, just don't get too cocky.
Viva the people!!! Viva America!!!
Posted by peter at November 8, 2006 08:49 AMSo announcing Saddam's verdict 2 days before the election, and hypnotizing Kerry into flubbing a bad joke was all that Rove could come up with?
I miss the good old days when they merely had the terror alert raised to orange.
Congrats to the Dems

Let's see, could it be that you libs don't want to hear the other side of things? Or could it be that you're stuck in your litte "cave" with all your other little buddies crying and whining to each other? Aren't you the party that upholds all free speech? Hmmn Interesting!
Congrats on your victories. I hope it's short-lived. I'm sure we'll all be hugging trees before long, so I'd better go outside and mount one so I can get into practice.

Posted by T2 at November 8, 2006 09:14 AMRush Limbaugh can now charge more for advertising now that Republicans suddenly have a whole lot more to whine about. Perhaps he sell a little Wisconsin blue cheese to go with that whine, especially as that state goes Blue in the senate, as well.
Posted by NorCalRINO at November 8, 2006 09:24 AMFrom what I've heard, one out of every six Bush voters from 2004 crossed over. This is how realignments are built. Passing speaker elect Pelosi's 100 hour program and a relentless persuit of the truth can make these 'rented' voters permanent Democrats.

That's why the republi-cons are crying "foul" as we speak.
Say, what happened to all of your hard fought logic that republi-cons would be the big winners? Turd-blossom seems to be more of a turd for losing this for you, if you ask me. Just wondering, since winning, not governance, is so important to you.
Enjoy the hearings! You rat-bastards are going to be turning on each other like cannibals in a car wreck. You people always feed on your own when things aren't going well. What wonderful republi-con cockroachery is about to see the light of day? I shudder in anticipation!

See ya...
Don't want to be ya...
And don't let the door hit you in the ass when you leave in January....
Ah...that felt good to say...
SO, I was off by two in my Senate guestimate (9 as opposed to apparently the 7, but with Montana and Virginia in recounts) and off by a good bit in the House (but I had the trend down)...26 versus the 52...26 off....
Now we can have a People's Agenda...not a Fascist, Totalitarian agenda...
I am sorry that Ms. Duckworth over in the middle of the country didn't win....She should have, Iraq vet and all...
Posted by Yourworstnightmare at November 8, 2006 10:04 AM"Where are all those court challenges you were talking about yesterday...Diebold, ES&S amongst other methods gave us a fair count."
Rove's system is set up to manipulate close losses into 51% wins. It can't deal with blow-outs like we saw all over the place yesterday. That's why he spent the last two weeks lying about the GOP picking up steam...to try and somehow get withing cheating distance and lay the groundwork so the Media could just call it "last minute surge". But when the Santorum's of the GOP are being blown out of the water by 20%, he just can't rig that. His big problem now is to keep spoiled little George from resigning, take his ball and go home.
suds called it in the above thread. Lieberman new DoD head, Conn. R-Governor appoints new R-Senator. Back to a tie in the Senate. Cheney breaks the ties. Just wondering?

Posted by benjoya at November 8, 2006 10:10 AMCongratulations guys. Well done. This morning I went to CNN.com. Soon as I noticed that the headlines didn't say anything about voter fraud or stolen election, I knew the Democrats had finally pulled it off.
Ok what's on agenda?
1. Roll back the tax cuts on the rich people.
That will stop those bastards from investing in the stock market and driving the damn thing to a record high.
2. Roll back the big tax deductions that the oil companies get. That will teach those pricks and keep the price of gas down at the pump.
3. While we are at it roll back the tax cuts on big and small business and raise the minimum wage at the same time. That will bring down unemployment for sure.
4. Put an immediate stop to the domestic surveillance program and do away with the patriot act. After all they are obviously not working since we have not been attacked and we have only uncovered a couple of terrorist plots to attack us.
5. Get our troops out of Iraq immediately and set a time table to let the insurgents know just when it will start and how long it will take. That will show terrorists all over the world not to mess with us.
6. Investigate the heck out of everyone and everything that the government has done over the past 6 years. Nothing will scare terrorists more than to see the United States government divided and bogged down with investigations.
7. Now that we have those Bible thumping Republicans out of office, let's open up dialog with the Muslim extremists. After all believing that by killing innocent people you will go to heaven is not irrational. Not believing in late term abortion is. If we are just nice to them they won't want to hurt us.
8. Kill any and all proposals to change the way Social Security works. There is no need to change it. When it comes time we will just raise the social security tax to save it. We can't allow people to have Private social security accounts. First off since they would own them the government would not be able to touch them. How could we possibly use that against Republicans in our future elections?
9. Stop our dependence on foreign oil. The best way to do this is to make sure there is a ban on any future oil drilling in the United States. Especially off shore drilling. We are much better off letting foreign countries drill in our ocean waters.
Im sure there is much more to do but this will be a good start to putting this country back in the right direction.
excellent graveyard whistling, creeply
Posted by benjoya at November 8, 2006 10:30 AMGod, what uniformed, hopeless ignorance. Where did you lift this wry "list" from?
The more "conservatism" fails, the more fervently it is believed in by the poisoned-brainers.
Don't ever try to go into government, creeply, you couldn't cut the civil service exam.

Posted by Seven of Six at November 8, 2006 10:58 AMeriposte, I, too, want to thank you for all of your excellent reporting and well-done research.
I also thank the massive hard work of everyone in the Progressive blogosphere and all of the boots on the ground.
In addition - please send Governor Dean a thank you note for the 50 state strategy, no one took him seriously. He had a vision. He implemented it - even at the cost of fighting with the DCCC - and he was right. We must let him know our gratitude.
Governor Dean complimented the Progressive Blogosphere this morning - he said that the grass roots did it. He said that without the blogosphere they would not have been able to be on top of all of the dirty tricks and attempted fraud and supression of the GOP. We did it. We were citizen reporters and we helped change the course of history.
Today is a good day for America.
MSNBC is slamming Cheney...I think they are lining up the world for a Cheney retirement (imprisonment?)
Today is a good day for America.
Posted by Anjha at November 8, 2006 10:59 AMFollow creepys line and the majority will swing back in 08 for sure. What a joke, "3. While we are at it roll back the tax cuts on big and small business and raise the minimum wage at the same time. That will bring down unemployment for sure." Unemployement at 4.4%, 7.1% in Michigan. How much more do you want to punish those poor people in Michigan? With creepy's advice, you will speed up the southern movement of our citizeny, lessoning their Congressional makeup in 2012. All those seats you've just won will evaporate soon.
The power of the south and southwest is rising, will continue to rise. Governorships in Florida, Texas, and California all are Republican. The census of 2010 will move some 10 to 16 seats into a southerly direction. Those left in the north will have less impact and less influence over the direction of our country unless they change the business climate up there. Unions and closed shops prohibit job growth, prohibits flexibility in the workplace.
Thanks for putting words in Pelosi mouth though. That's so nice to gage how she 'progresses' in your mind. Where she has failed.
Posted by peter at November 8, 2006 11:05 AMEuzoius. Are you sure im not already in government? :) Second that list probobly does hurt a little since its all things that have been coming out of Democrats mouths for over two years straight. And yes it is rediculous and funny. This mid term election really does not matter that much. How much do you think congress is really going to be able to get done without enough votes to over ride a Bush VETO? Close to nothing I suspect. A bunch of investigations? Thats about it. Not much will change unfortunatly.
Posted by Creeply at November 8, 2006 11:07 AMJust to make clear in case some one doesn't get it. I WAS BEING SARCASTIC!!!
Posted by creeply at November 8, 2006 11:11 AMLet's look at TX-22 Sekula-Gibbs, did win the unexpired term of Tom Delay. She gets seated right away. She gets to cast a few votes, get her feet wet in Congress. In two years her name will be on the ballot. Do you think the results will probably be different? Take FL-16, Joe Negron will still be there in two years, get his name on the ballot. What's his chances of a turnover seat? Two years from now, Delay, Ney, Foley, Sherwood, Weldon, and Cunningham won't be around to kick around. You'll be paying the piper then. Whatever gets or doesn't get done will be on your sholders.
You make this positive, make progress for America and the electorate may return you to the majority. Make a lot of negative moves and presto chango, we're back. You've won a hardfought victory yesterday. Enjoy it for today, maybe tommorrow, then get to work for America, not for Democrats.
Viva the people! Viva America!
Posted by peter at November 8, 2006 11:45 AMNew 'Speaker' Nancy Pelosi has said many times "it's about the children.". Why is it that her district in San Francisco is the only district to vote against "Jessica's Law"? Should she listen to what her voters are telling America? They voted for her and against Prop 83. What a message that sends for her representation. I also wonder about those other 1,941,822 Californians that voted against this prop.
Posted by peter at November 8, 2006 11:59 AMWell, it is difficult to distinguish supposedly serious "conservative" policies from sarcastic jokes.
It's always a "win" for a winner like you, peter, right? You can't lose---remember? Keep your eyes focused on that 2010 census.
It'a pity you couldn't have delivered all this great "positive progress for America" advice to your corrupt criminal party when they were running the show, no? Ah well, live and learn.
Oh, the filthy, stinking laundry that your vile Republican pigs have shitted up and hidden in the back of the Congressional and Executive closets---should be pretty funny! And instructive to see the reality of "conservatism" and its amazing abuse of power and criminality, all celebrated daily by authoritarian constitution-hating enablers like you.
Posted by euzoius at November 8, 2006 12:05 PMHey, just about everybody I voted for won. There was very little Democratic opposition anywhere on the radar here. So yeah, I'm positive and progressive though conservative in nature.
Lieberman won, does he get a committee chair? Or does he move the leadership over to the Republicans?
Posted by peter at November 8, 2006 12:15 PMHey Peter....

YOU LOST. And in a big way.
Now go away. Maybe you can take a bunch of your neocon koolaid drinker buds with you and leave the country....
Maybe, you can take your loser supporters to central America...Guatemala for instance...
Just don't post anymore shrill-tempered garbage here.
YOU LOST.

It's wonderful this catharsis....after putting up with Rightist Idealogues since 1994....it's like fresh wind in the sails...
Posted by Yourworstnightmare at November 8, 2006 12:15 PMI was here before, why should I not be here after? Do you think yesterday changed all that much? I'll take the lumps for now.
