Comments: Rove's Destruction Of The GOP

I don't recall Mormonism being an issue with the first Romney 30-odd years ago. What has changed?

I'm glad about Hastings and hope Harman is out, too. Pelosi seemed clear about the latter on election night, pointedly telling Wolf that those seats aren't always guaranteed to the current committee members. I thought she was making a jab at Lieberman, but in retrospect, she was making her position known to Harman from the beginning. The Intelligence Chair will going to someone else entirely, I believe.

Allard not running would be wonderful for the State of CO. With Salazar holding the GOP lite stance, they could use a Progressive.

Reyes would be a wonderful choice for House Intelligence Committee chair. Pelosi would be making a very strategic move by endearing herself to Hispanics in America.

al gore saying he has no plans to run is not quite the same as saying "i am not running"..he's running..he was elected once and thats a great campaign slogan...i suppose that there may be some solace in the fact that bush and rove will leave a legacy of failure..an unjust war..and maybe keep the dems in power for a very long time....

Brian- read "Under the Banner of Heaven" by Jon Krakour, then you may understand why voters are hesitant to elect a Mormon to office.

Mormons have become associated with the religious right and in the process have become unelectable to many progressives, including me.
My former church, southern baptists are almost in the same shape. Such are the perils of churches getting too close to state power.

"Except for Chris Shayes and the two ladies in Maine."

Um, don't forget about the two guys in New Hampshire. However, with Sununu and Collins up for reelection in 2008, time to reduce that number even further.

Americans are in no mood for anyone even slightly deviating from mainstream religions.
