Comments: Just Like Stocks And Bonds

I wonder if husband George is getting her a new pair of kneepads for xmas.

Posted by Alex at December 22, 2006 09:29 AM

I'm sorry for this sexist comment, but it's obvious that the SecState now has saggy boobs. Gawd alone knows the damage Madeleine Albright's sagging protuberances caused in Middle Eastern negotiations.

Merry Xmas to all at TLC!

Investment?

A scenario: You invade California with a coalition force from..well, you name it. You quickly force Arnie from office. In no uncertain terms you: (1) fire every bureaucrat; (2) fire all police forces (regular police, harbor patrols, park rangers, private security, etc.); (3) disband the National Guard; (4) fire all of the power and water plant operators; (5) fire all public employess (also, anyone who is a Democrat or Republi-con cannot hold a public job); (6) release all of the prisoners from jail and prison; and (7) selectively bomb power plants and water and sewer facilities. Allow to simmer for 3 years. Call it an "investment".

Posted by phidipides at December 22, 2006 10:05 AM

Dang-it. In my scenario I should add:

...(8) fire all Federal military, but give them time to remove all ordinance from the bases and forts and hide it; and (9) have unemployment of between 38 and 60%.

There, that about completes it.

Posted by phidipides at December 22, 2006 10:16 AM

do you think we could talk her into going on a world tour to promote child sex slavery, forced prostitution, mass murder, and other "investments" we have made for the culture of the huddled masses?

Posted by oldtree at December 22, 2006 10:23 AM

I don't know, tempus, I think it's more a case of shoulderpads under the jacket, than droopy breasts. Let's all pray that she doesn't do a Brittney, though. Never know what might be hiding in the skirt.

I think most people, and by that I mean most Americans, just don't get who Condi Rice really is, and don't understand her role in this administration.

Her job is to defend George W. Bush no matter what he says or does, and to have that defense come from an African-American female who speaks academic English. She has no other role.

Because she is who she is, the corporate press/media publish and broadcast whatever she says uncritically. They also invariably describe her in positive, complimentary terms.

They never call her on her lies or contradictions, never confront her with hard realities that are at odds with her statements, and never report that she is nothing more than a shill.

I have no idea what she is "really like" in person, or what thoughts or ideas she may have about the world. It is clear that Condi Rice has no impact on policy decisions.

It is possible, of course, as Billmon suggests, that:

Maybe the simplest explanation is also the most accurate. Maybe Condi is just a cold, heartless bitch -- as morally numb and sociopathic as her office husband.

But that doesn't change the fact that she is just an errand girl, sent by grocery clerks, to collect a bill.

It is slimy to note that wherever Hillary goes we get a run down of her sex life, her hair style, her lipglass, nailpolish, whether she's bisexual, ad nauseum but with Condi there's never even a whisper ('cept us). It would be interesting though to see Condi's mastery of a chest like Pamela Anderson. Ugh

A lovely early X-mas present for Condi. Democrats lawyer up for the next term:

...early January hearings into the war and military spending that are set to begin January 8

Posted by phidipides at December 22, 2006 11:22 AM

It could be worse. Imagine if Condi (and the rest of the Cheney administration) were competent enough to pour piss out of a boot (one with the directions written on the heel).

Ahoy, Condi. Greetings from Aaita ech Chaab. Ugly baby; situation hopeless.

Posted by Pvt. Keepout at December 22, 2006 11:28 AM

Obviously, Condi loves being Bush's "yes girl" even though she surely knows he is an idiot. Colin Powell apparently couldn't stomach the White House shenanigans any longer after he completed the first term...you know - the one when the Supremes appointed Bush president. If only Colin Powell were President!!

And, to refer to our dead troops as an investment is insensitive, offensive and downright heartless. We are talking about human beings here - not dollars and cents!

Posted by skittyskat at December 22, 2006 11:36 AM

Somebody break that picture out of Condi in that pilot helmet and goggles! Snark was that you?

Posted by Seven of Six at December 22, 2006 11:40 AM

Wh--wh--what's the problem with our little ChristmasCondi describing the troops "supreme sacrifice" with a term doubly dear to the heart of every "conservative"?

What higher, more reverent, more holy term could a Cheneyite use than "investment"?

Plus it coyly (and in a very Christmasy way) gets across the idea that you don't want to "lose your investment" by pullin' out of the (Iraq) futures market too early, do you? I mean, you're a competent investor, aren't you?

So give the impressive lady a break---where's your goddam Christmas Spirit anyway? "Conservatives" are people, too! (supposedly)

James E. Powell

So true. After all, she is an expert in Russian studies - not the middle east. Those two regions of the world don't share much in common, do they? Well, history will expose the truth about this whole fiasco.

What else do you expect from "oil tanker" Rice, a made member of the privileged elite? "Craven and callous" is a fair assessment, but it just comes with the territory.

Posted by corduroy joe at December 22, 2006 01:31 PM

So, we know from the Social Security debate that it's always better to let people invest on their own, rather than have the government pool their money. So why can't the government let each of us have a private mercenary account to fight the wars that are most appropriate for each individual's situation?

And speaking of stocks, although Pfizer is down 40% under Hank McKinnel's leadership, he will receive 199 million dollars when he steps down in February.

Le Rice is telling anyone willing to listen that post-Bush-nightmare, she's jetting back to Stanford University to resume her 'duties' as provost.

Really Condi? Really?

Well, that would require the highly accomplished John Etchemendy to step aside and what I'm hearing is Etchemendy has absolutely no intention to leave his job.

Sounds to me like Le Rice is suffering from delusions of grandeur -- like her boss.

Posted by Christopher at December 22, 2006 03:26 PM

Al,

Peter Rost alwys has something to add about Pfizer and big pharma in general.

They make the mob look like boy scouts.

"Maybe the simplest explanation is also the most accurate. Maybe Condi is just a cold, heartless bitch -- as morally numb and sociopathic as her office husband."

James, bingo, that is the answer. If she weren't as described above, she could not work for such a man. No morale or ethical person could.

Christopher, someone in my family is on staff at Stanford. It would be interesting to see what they have to say about Le Rice's return. Don't place any bets yet.

It's 'La Rice', not 'Le Rice'. Passive third personal, feminine. Learn French, before castrating the SecState. The short shaft eater deserves respect!

Judith, Anything is possible, but if McCain wins the WH, look for him to tap Le Rice for United Nations Ambassador. She's not moving back to Palo Alto.

What is sad is that the war in Iraq was completely worthless and has caused the US more harm then can be repaired in a generation.

Posted by fcsanders at December 23, 2006 05:01 AM

Can Condi get any uglier? What a photo! My guess is that she'll replace Oprah, who is no better.

God help us everyone!

Posted by Mal Feasance at December 23, 2006 07:21 AM

Let's face it folks, Condi is the house N.

Posted by Judith at December 23, 2006 07:38 AM

First, we have a bunch of white guys commenting on the appearance of black women. You simply do not get it while (little) king George obviously does.

Second, regarding her investment comment it brings to mind what the previous Madam Secretary said about the thousands of Iraqi children dead as a results of the sanctions: it was worth it!
So, obviously the department of State is an unemployment agency for cold heartless bitches. You have a problem with that?
