Former President Gerald Ford was unique among GOPers.
In an interview published Monday, former President Gerald Ford said the Federal government should provide the same benefits for same-sex couples and married couples.
His comments make him the highest-ranking Republican ever to publicly support equal treatment for same-sex couples.
Ford told Detroit News columnist Deb Price:
"I think they (same-sex couples) should be treated equally. Period," he said.
WTF? A Republican who believes in equality? Take that George W. Bush and Jerry Falwell.
saw a bumper sticker that said..somebody give him a bj so we can impeach him..thought it was pretty damn funny on one hand..but on the other hand it says quite a lot...just what is it going to take to get this son of a bitch out of office..he has hurt the country and the military..weakened us..hundreds of thousands dead..i was driving in my car and heard a story of a reservist who had alredy served a tour of duty in iraq..was home and was summoned to go again..he was killed in a shootout with police..30 years old..don't know the details but it ain't right..bush and cheney..cowards when they had their chance..it ain't right..somebody please give the man a bj..and lets get rid of him...start the investigtions
Posted by dennis at December 28, 2006 04:48 AMToo bad Edsel didn't believe in equal punishment under the law for bush's role model, Nixslime.
Three funerals over six days? Is this some sort of national gag-reflex test?
I didn't know he was holding down a second job as American Pope.

GOP Chickenhawks.
Elites, interested in self-enrichment and power.

The new republi-cons are not your Dad's Republicans. Back then, "conservatism" was fairly young, and only Nixon had really fucked it up. Today, the ideals of "fiscal conservation" and "limited government" have been shown to be so false and have been so corrupted by the republi-cons that the only thing they have left is fear (Terra and a Muslim under every X-Mas tree), god (making us moral again by starving and killing children), and gays (it's about the kids...uhhh, god, kids need a mommy and daddy...some sorta shit, who knows).
But the truth of the matter remains. You see a republi-con today and you probably have around you the most worthless fuck that ever existed. It's what they've become. There is no humanity associated with them. It's all lip service to their supposed decency.
$43 trillion in long-term debt in 6 years. What the fuck is it with these people? I can understand debt to make the Nation a better, smarter healthier place. They simply squandered the bulk of it doing the most asinine stuff...and making their buddies richer.

So true.
Bushco blew through Clinton's surplus in 180 days.
Just as he did when he was Texas governor. The surplus Ann Richards left was gone before you could say "chicken fried steak."
Posted by Christopher at December 28, 2006 06:50 AMI feel somewhat like Tiki,
Gerald Ford was our generation's very own Millard Philmore. I've had it with the glowing eulogies about how he bound the nation's wounds and served with integrity, etc. ad nausea.
Some people sure didn't feel like their wounds were bound by pardoning Nixon, and incidentally preventing ALL his cronies, like Cheney, Rummy, et al from facing investigations as well. Unless you think that binding wounds that haven't been sterilized is good medicine, it was done, by his admission, to clear HIS desk of the Nixon problem.
Likewise, when the Mayaguez was captured, he and Henry the K decided to send in the Marines, even though crewmen were beginning to be released, because it looked good to the voters. More soldiers died in the heroic rescue that there were sailors on the ship.
Another profile in courage was when he whispered his disquiet about the dangerous course the Bushies were taking to Bob Woodworthless, then made sure it would never be revealed before he was dead. That's showing 'em Gerry! Way to step up and show responsibility! Just like Jimmy Carter!
Now he serves the party one last time, by enabling a 6-day circus to distract the great unwashed while Bush is desperately seeking a good PR spin for disastrous escalation. I'm ready to gag with all the breathless coverage of a very mediocre man who spent 30 years in retirement working hard as one commentator put it, to craft a memoir that was longer than 23 pages.

.....hope you have a big bottle of Vikaden.
Nice post, New Joisey, I voted for Carter.
I'm sorry, but just because you finally die at 93, you don't get a pass for your sins.
