Meanwhile Condi continues to tell the Maliki government, this broken country is yours to fix.

Posted by mamameow at January 13, 2007 02:20 PMI saw Sen Byrd ask Pace who it was that Cambone had briefed last Fall on Bush's Iran plans after Pace claimed that the appropriate members of Congress were told. Pace drew a blank. Byrd raised those heroic eyebrows of his and said ungently that he expected to see those names on his desk the beginning of the week.

I knew who was writing this before I even saw the poster's name. By god, you're nothing if not consistent. I hope life and Jehovah are treating you well.
then why hasn’t the Bush Administration brought proof of Iran’s actions to the UN
The evidence doesn't approach the level of evidence for WMDs in Iraq?
These guys are waiting for a Gulf of Tonkin incident. Some carrier is going to hit a Silverspot squirrelfish and all hell will break loose from there.
Posted by phidipides at January 13, 2007 02:44 PMScout is exactly right:
http://atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/IA12Ak05.html
The Iraqi puppet government under Maliki has been placed in there for little more purpose than passing this sick draft petroleum law to give British and American oil companies effective control of Iraqi oil, and allow Anglo-American firms to get the vast majority of Iraqi petroleum profits. Just as the Asia Times article points out, Iraq has both an enormous quantity of oil and considerable ease in extracting it, making it a veritable wet dream for the Anglo-American oil companies whose countries have soldiers occupying Iraq.
And Bush and Cheney (as well as chickenhawk Democrats like Hillary Rodham Clinton and Joseph Biden) are the enablers of this intended colossal theft of Iraqi oil, via this invasion of Iraq.
The lies have at last been openly and obviously exposed-- the Iraq War has been about seizure of Iraqi oil from the get-go. US troops are being slaughtered in Iraq, at the behest of Bush and Tony Blair, for the chief purpose of securing Iraqi oil contracts for Anglo-American oil companies. That's what our soldiers are shedding their blood for.
Posted by Galava at January 13, 2007 02:45 PMBush & Cheney will do whatever they want. They've so much as said that.
And there's nothing the Congress or Senate can do. Unless the Congress begins to fast track the impeachment process.
Otherwise, it's two more years of Bush & Cheney adventures. And George will walk away in 09 with his $400K/yr government pension and his reputation in tact.
It's the Dems move.
