WaPo reports the cost of Bush's Iraq war has reached $1.2 trillion. This includes the mindless, dangerous escalation of the war Bush and his neocon puppetmasters have called for.
Another way to look at it is, this is $1.2 trillion that won't be spent in the USA.
Monies that could be spent on hiring teachers and cops, on public health and disease research and on securing our airports and ports.
Poor Scooter Libby.
Not for having that dumb-ass name, but he's already encountering difficulty finding potential jurors who hold his former boss, Dick Cheney, in high regard.
The voir dire process could be long and problematic.
That's right, I pick up chicks with my big, thick volumes of history.
Posted by idiosynchronic at January 17, 2007 06:36 AMThe great news about the trial, is bloggers have been given press passes.
Posted by Judith at January 17, 2007 06:40 AMMy great hope is seeing Cheney take the 5th. This administration is such a disgrace.

Posted by dj moonbat at January 17, 2007 07:28 AMSpeaking of bloggers at the Libby trial.
Coyote mentioned this yesterday I believe. Jane Hamsher of Firedoglake has been diagnosed with a recurrence of breast cancer. She had been scheduled to be one of the bloggers in daily attendence at the trial but will miss the first couple of weeks while she undergoes treatment.
Her work on the Plame leak case has been great. Keep her in your thoughts.

Does O'Reilly know Stephen is a parody?
Does O'Reilly know O'Reilly is a parody?
As Condi's background is her knowledge of Russia, I used to think that was considered useful because, after all, Russia remains #2 in nuclear weapon possession, and could continue to pose a potential threat.
However, I suspect the benign view of Condi may overlook a more frightening possibility.
Maybe Bush wants to know how the USSR operated, not to oppose that, but to emulate it.
Scary thought. But from Gitmo to Abu Ghraib to control over US prosecutors to extraordinary rendition, there's a lot to suggest the idea has merit.
Imagine that: is Condi a Stalinist?
