damn, you said it all. Truth will out.
Posted by Flamethrower at January 24, 2007 09:18 AMThe problem remains. No matter how isolated he is, Bush can order up a new war with Iran and he continues to believe he can create a puppet in Iraq.
Posted by Nobody at January 24, 2007 09:25 AMAfter his "surge" speech a couple of weeks ago, I thought Bush would probably crumble in front of Congress last night, but he did a good job. I expect his numbers to rocket up into the high 30s for a week before going even lower as people realize that nothing he said is going anywhere, and Iraq isn't going anywhere good.
America just wants to run out the clock on the Bush administration at this point.
Posted by dj moonbat at January 24, 2007 09:41 AMFunny how a bully, when he doesn't have his gang at his side, changes his tone, isn't it? I have two words for Bush, F*CK U and the rest of your cabal. Whether you like it not, your legacy will be one of shame and dishonor. You deserve nothing more.
Posted by Judith at January 24, 2007 09:52 AMBush has a new country: Paraguay.
The land where all the thugs and dictators slither off to and retire. He, Laura and Barney will be very happy there.
Posted by Christopher at January 24, 2007 10:20 AMBush is definitely finished. If anything, his speech catered more to Democrats, so he may have lost even more Republicans. His approval rating will continue to slide toward Nixon.

Posted by oldtree at January 24, 2007 10:54 AMAt the conclusion of the SOTU after shaking Cheney's hand, Bushmeat then turned to the Speaker and, a la Merkel-shoulder-rub disaster at the end of the G-8 conference, tried to give the Speaker of the House a hug rather than a handshake (cause... she's a womyn). Ms. Pelosi firmly offered him her hand to shake instead. It looked VERY awkward for the Pres. and it appeared from the camera angle that he was trying to grab her left breast. What a duffus! (:>
Posted by Donald Cormac at January 24, 2007 11:06 AMSomething I was wondering about:
The whole "we have to fight them there or we'll be fighting them on the streets of America" line (I"m surprised he didn't add "just like on "24")....well the argument seems to be that we keep them busy and disrupted enough not to be able to plan attacks over here. (But as Bush noted last night when he mentioned plots that had been foiled, including blowing up planes bound for the US, they clearly can walk and chew gum at the same time.) But if it were the case that engaging them in a fight will keep them too busy to bother us over here, then shouldn't we just leave Iraq and (according to what Bush says will happen) let the Sunnis, Shia, al-Qaeda and whoever else just fight it out? That could go on for years, keeping the terrorists really busy, so they can't get us here.

He has already arrived.
That picture just creeps me out.
It's like Little Boots is a small child looking at his all-powerful mother who just caught him wearing her silk panties while was at work.
Bush definitely has trouble with women.
Posted by Christopher at January 24, 2007 02:26 PMI honestly tried to watch the speech but became very bored with it and actually thought it was rambling way to long. I stopped listening because all I could think of was...you have been in office for 6 years and I have heard many of these same empty and broken promises before...nah gah happen. I turned it off before he began talking about the War of the Worlds crap ....did I miss anything...I didn't think so.
Anyway, love the picture. Looks like he's trying to arm wrestle Madame Speaker and she has the upper hand...if you know what I mean.
Did see Cheney nearly choke to death on a mint or something when he tried to supress himself from laughing out loud when the Chimperor was talking about his oil and energy initiatives and plans for the country. Guess even Darth couldn't maintain his deadeye poker face during all those whoppers the president was spouting.
Posted by emal at January 24, 2007 03:33 PMWow - tolerance, compassion, inclusion, forgiveness... don't you guys read your own stuff? OK, Bush is way past the tolerance level of most Americans, but until we hear something POSITIVE from the Left side of the aisle, you're nothing but Ol' Agnew's Nattering Nabobs of Negativism.
Posted by BigMAk at January 24, 2007 06:02 PMBigmak, where have you been for 6 years? It's a little difficult to be positive when we are at war, when everyone except 1% of our society is struggling, when hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women and children have been killed in Iraq, when we have over 3,000 dead, when our Constitution is being shredded, when we are being illegally spied upon, when rumors of war with Iran/Syria abound, when thieves, liars and criminals are in our Government, etc., etc., etc. Oh, and one more thing, Bush is still sitting his ass in our WH. You want positive? Being positive about something means acceptance, approval, or affirmation, none of which is applicable today.
