America ‘poised to strike at Iran’s nuclear sites’ from bases in Bulgaria and Romania

At least one report says Bush is preparing to attack Iran'snuclear facilities before the end of April and the US Air Force's new bases in Bulgaria and Romania would be used as back-up in the onslaught, according to an official report from Sofia.

"American forces could be using their two USAF bases in Bulgaria and one at Romania's Black Sea coast to launch an attack on Iran in April," the Bulgarian news agency Novinite said.

I love the phony airport story. It is almost comical.

I've attended every peace march, anti-W march since friggin' 2002 and the one I missed, THE ONE I MISSED made the front pages of the WaPo!!! This march couldn't be ignored by WaPo because EVERYBODY with a brain is against Bush and the war and everything else Bush has destroyed in the last few years.

I laugh and giggle when I hear criticism over ANY Presidential candidate as inexperienced, non-inner Beltway savviness; lack of political credentials, etc., etc. Bush has lowered the bar SO MUCH, my neighbor's tattooed ten year-old daughter could be a viable candidate.

Now a word from Jeb Bush as he tries to prepare a way for NeoCon resurgence and his own run for the White House someday:

(quote from a recent speech a conservative forums):

"If the promise of pork and more programs is the way Republicans think they'll regain the majority, then they've got a problem."

Now listen at that, would ya? Blaming Republicans in Congress for pork-barrel legislation is what brought the NeoCons down.

This is the beginning of Revised History 101.

McCain will ask for more troops if 21,000 is not enough. Good luck Senator McCain. Also, what is it with these guys who look into each others eyes?

Davos Notes: John McCain Bites My Head Off

With a growing edge in his voice, McCain explained that he had sat down with General Patraeus. "He looked me in the eye," said McCain, "and told me 'I can do it with 21,000. And if I can't, I'll ask for more.'" McCain went on to say he believes that in a country of 300 million we should be able to have a large enough volunteer army to do whatever we need to do.

Sorry, first line should read General Patraeus, not John McCain, although McCain supports the General's words.

Where is Murtha's voice on the issue. Have they managed to silence him?

my neighbor's tattooed ten year-old daughter

*blinks* Surely you jest. I know several tattoo artists with kids that age, and none of them have piercings or tats. They're all rebelling by being white sheep of the family.

Thank you for addresing the false meme about Vietman vets being spat upon or similarly berated by "hippies" upon their return from the war. Well, having been one of those "hippies" back in the 1970's, I've always found this claim to be ludicrous. The guys I knew that had been in Veitnam came back being just as disenchanted and angry at US military policy as us "hippies". Not only were they never spat upon or berated, they were pretty much heroes to us for having been forced through the hell of an unneccesary war, and come through it alive. They were our friends, and we not only looked up to them, but we also had enormous compassion for all that they had been forced to endure.

Then, as now, our anger was with the administration, not the troups, who we always recognized as victims of the bogus war. I did everything I could to avoid the meat grinder, and had nothing but respect for those who were unable to do the same. They were our friends, and classmates. I've always felt that it was the pro-war crazies that were angry at the vets. They are the ones that to this day get their panties in a bunch about "losing" their beloved bloodbath. Frankly, we hippies could have cared less about winning or losing. We just wanted the killing ended. And when the killing finally ended, we welcomed our friends and classmates back home. nuff said.

Here's what I posted about Sparling at Digby's site:

As someone who was at the CODEPINK event - here's my take on that and the march in general - and who saw Sparling up close and personal, I thought I'd weigh in. We were close to the front of the event because we were there early and my girlfriend wanted a good spot to take photos. Shortly after the event began, I noticed Sparling and his small group - himself, a woman wearing the same 82nd Airborne sweatshirt and another young man - push their way to the front. By the time they made their move, the crowd was packed pretty tight, so I don't see how they could have made it so close (just to the left of the front) without some pushing.

When everyone would cheer a particular speaker, he first stood out by loudly booing. He would also give a thumbs down gesture to accompany those boos. One of the official speakers, a woman who formerly served in the armed forces, went over to him, and the two appeared to have a civil conversation. When a man who was taking pictures went over, Sparling appeared to be shouting in his face to move the camera. Later, when the female veteran spoke, she mentioned his service and our appreciation for it and there was a good round of applause. Nothing that would lead someone to characterize anyone as un-American.

I missed his impromptu speech because myself and my girlfriend were helping keep the CODEPINK protesters on the sidewalk as we marched to the full protest. That said, I sincerely doubt Sparling was treated with disrespect on our side of the street. (I didn't notice anyone on his side of the street barring a few curious folks who appeared to be taking pictures of the counter-protesters.) The worst I saw anyone from our side do in response to a counter-protester was throw up a fist or peace sign. When someone shouted, it wasn't profane. Now, on the other hand, Sparling's Freeper friends across the street had spent the better part of an hour holding up ridiculous signs like "Anti-American peaceniks think sedition is patriotic" and "We gave peace a chance. We got 9/11". Also, they hung an effigy of Jane Fonda. These weren't friendly people. They were people looking to provoke a response. That they got it in the form of spitting, based on everything I saw Saturday, seems laughable on its face.

Before I even noticed Sparling's leg, I thought the kid was a right-wing plant in our group. I thought we were going to be marching, peacefully, and this kid would break a window or otherwise do something to make for an ugly scene, making what was actually a peaceful protest look anything but. It looked to me like he was taking great pains to stand out in what he was doing. For anyone to portray Sparling as an innocent actor in Saturday's events while making the CODEPINK attendees out to be a rabid mob boggles the mind. Our group was 90 percent women, including children and grandmothers. Half of the guys there didn't look like they could hurt a fly. I can safely say Sparling and his group showed up looking to start something, something that, from the looks of your citations, appears to be a pattern.

As everyone by now knows, I'm not a Hillary Clinton fan and I've been highly critical of her for numerous reasons.

But I must say, girlfriend seems to have found her campaign voice this weekend in Iowa, as she swiftly kicked Bush squarely in the gonads!

What a thing of beauty! Here are a few Hillarims:

~ It would be "the height of irresponsibility" to pass the war along to the next commander in chief
~ "This was his decision to go to war with an ill-conceived plan and an incompetently executed strategy,"
~ "We expect him to extricate our country from this before he leaves office"
~ "I am going to level with you, the president has said this is going to be left to his successor," Clinton said. "I think it is the height of irresponsibility and I really resent it."

Get him, Hillary! I didn't think you had it in you.

Anyone else catch this piece of hardware? The Koreans are putting it in service this year.

I don't remember any bad treatment to the returning Viet Nam vets.

However, when General Sherman vacationed in Atlanta after the Civil War, now that was a formidable spat line.

the local news in my town mentioned the Protests...said "dozens and dozens of protesters"...... Looks like it might have been a bit undereported, huh.

Yikes! Our 42" DLP is Samsung. I had no idea they were also involved in such things.

TIKI, my son has been bugging me for one o' them things forever. I'd be happy to discourage the vinyl siding salespeople myself. Godbots don't come to my door anymore due to the evil aura surrounding my house.

It has a speaker to warn people that they're about to get their face blown off

So it has more humanity than the vice president anyway.

The Mormons blacklisted our house because I informed the bike missionarys that Joseph Smith was a New York Jew with a not so original idea.

I thought their little heads were going to explode inside their bike helmets.

I don't have the link anymore, but I read a report last night where military analysts from Jane's were claiming the Korean IRBM missile recently tested (and failed) by N Korea was in co-development with Iran and an identical missile was spotted on Iranian testbed facilities in satellite photos. The upshot of the report was:
"they have an missile that hit anywhere in the Middle East! They are ahead of schedule! Take Cover or Take'm Out!!!"

So I assign this to counter-reporting by hawks who really, really want to blow Iran up real good, right now.

What do you think?

Posted by suds at January 29, 2007 09:11 AM

suds, Col. Gardiner addressed that propaganda story on Saturday, in a thread down below: Outrage: Yet Another Surge.
