It's unconscionable that these people are treated as heroes by the admin and the media, then abandoned when they've served their time. Yet another unplanned, though totally predictable consequence of going to war. It's sick.

[Editor: ignore=off]If you are being used by evil people as a means towards a corrupt end, why would your welfare have any importance in their plans? Everytime I see a ribbon with 'Support Our Troops' on the back of a bumper, I want to drive my Toyota through the back of their car.
Posted by Judith at January 30, 2007 09:03 PMSeems Benito, aka, 'Johnny One Note' can't get his head out of his a*s.
Posted by Judith at January 30, 2007 09:12 PMyes, it is a nasty sty. that the media refrains from reporting. but i think we know about the imperatives of the imperialists and their agitprop agents by now.
the stupefying aspect of it all for me is those men i know that served in viet-nam, sustained long-term debilities, and express no rancor.
i think of my insurance agent, for instance.a great guy. served as a usa warrant officer chopper jock. mixed agents orange, purple, white and sprayed those toxics all over seasia from his huey.
for the last 20+ years he has been ravaged by ailments - diabetes, cardiovascular distress, ad nauseam. as i listened to his ailment complaints last year, i recommended that he make an appointment at the houston va hospital...some of his problems sounded like neurotoxin-induced ailments.
it is sort of interesting, after his tests, he called me to thank me. apparently, the va had determined that all of his ailments were related to his exposure to those nerve agents...and that the va was going to become responsible for his medical care.
and there are thousands like him out there.
how does the congress shield their eyes?
and f*ck obama. out now. no more state-sanctioned murdering.
this is a failed empire. and the sooner that we acknowledge this, the better off we shall be.
Oh, and Baker now thinks the "surge" is a good idea.
While Congress is bullshitting about "the surge",
ninety advance troops from the 82nd Airborne Division have arrived in Baghdad.
While Congress is wringing their hands, additional battalion of roughly 800 troops from the same division are expected to arrive in Baghdad shortly.
Centcom Commander Gen. John Abizaid has requested a second carrier that will leave on its regularly scheduled departure date, but will proceed to the Gulf instead of its original deployment to the Pacific.
Seems to me that debating the "surge" in Congress is a rather moot point.
Posted by Judith at January 31, 2007 02:26 AMThen to add insult to injury the left abets the enemy that maimed them and killed their buddies.
bendejo, As usual, your full of shit. Get your ass on the front lines mofo!
It's all about funding. Everyone who finds this a travesty should call and ask their congressperson for more funding for Veterans.
Bob Filner, who recently took over the commitee chair in the House let go of some key staff, he's way behind and needs a good kick in the ass to get going. I understand cleaning house but have a smooth transition.
Akaka seems to have his act together in the Senate.
As a 100% disabled Veteran who has his, we need to increase the hiring of as many claims reviewers and ratings officers. More doctors, nurses, staff, hospitals, clinics, and spending for research would be nice.
We have a silent enemy killing our injured troops upon return, BTW.
I read this entry before I went to bed last night. As usual, the nightmares return, I did get 4 hours however.
It needs to be brought to the attention of all Americans, thanks soccerdad!
Posted by Seven of Six at January 31, 2007 04:17 AMWhat kind of nation would put men and women in the Iraq hellhole and then treat them with such disdain when they come home wounded?
One populated by the benditos, bagleys and muckdogs. These vets just need to get a job.
I guess the surge troops will need to go after some insurgents and get their weapons and kevlar. Don't be surprised to see our troops zipping about in Toyota technicals with sheet steel "armor". Olberman was showing film from Iraq on an unrelated topic, and there was the American soldier...using an AK. At least there is plenty of ammunition for those things in Iraq. Scrounge, grunts, scrounge.
As usual, the nightmares return, I did get 4 hours however.
Peace.
Posted by phidipides at January 31, 2007 08:31 AMIsn't this attitude similar to that of the anti-abortion wingers? They carp and protest and bomb and assassinate in an effort to protect any and every unborn fetus, but once those children are born, they couldn't give a skinny rat's ass about any select dozen of them. So too do these war-lovers claim to "support the troops," as long as that means supporting them in their wholesale slaughter of Iraqis (and, soon to come, Iranians). Once those troops have served their purpose and come home -- often maimed, traumatized or dead -- their services are no longer required, and the former "supporters" conveniently forget all about them.
It is despicable. Despicable, sick and unconscionable.
