Being a cad seems to be a requirement to be governor of California.
Just ask Heil Arnold.
Posted by Christopher at February 1, 2007 10:51 AMI called my parents this morning, for months ago they made me feel like a prude when I mightily bitched how stupid it was for Gavin to date a 20 year old.
They thought it made him look good, a sexual stud in a way. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, but they meant it.
Stud my ass, he's freaking got a problem. You want to be a stud in this world, how the fark hard is it to sleep with sungle women over 21?
Is that too much to ask, you moron? I had such high hopes for you, but apparently it is too much to ask, and your dick has been your undoing. It's a very old story in this world, but goddamnint, Gavin, the world was yours. Jesus.
Posted by paradox at February 1, 2007 11:44 AMPersonal meltdowns are never easy to watch for most of us, except for those whom are vile and mean at heart.
I could care less about the 20 year old thing. They're both consenting adults. I could care less about the alcohol thing. I think there's enough hypocrisy by most Americans on this issue that its pretty stupid.
But a GOP-registered woman? Ack. That's like dating a troglodyte masquerading around in a human skin.
An last of all, he has the temerity to date a blonde. Gag.
Posted by idiosynchronic at February 1, 2007 12:29 PMWell aren't we the judgmental ones, all catty about age differences and--oh horrors!!--underage drinking. Aren't you the same people that decried the impeachment of Clinton for his sins? When full fascism arrives I'll be sure to keep an eye out for you guys.
Posted by Don Bacon at February 1, 2007 12:32 PMHas he broken some laws here?
If not, then could we spare the outrage for the next American soldier that dies in Iraq?
As far as I know, the complaint lo these many years about the GOP infidelities has not been in their commission, but in that the GOP is always yammering about family values, marital fidelity etc, the great crime of Bill Clinton being that unsanctified blowjob and all, and then they turn right around and do the thing they've been preaching about. I think we call that hypocrisy.
So unless the Democrats have started preaching the same story when I wasn't looking, I really don't care what the Mayor of San Francisco has done or who he's dating, those choices are his to make, as tacky, immature, enviable, ill-advised, as they may be.
So long as they're all adults and everything is legal, of course. I mean, hey, for all we know he's just trying to convert Republicans one young woman at a time!
Posted by Duckman GR at February 1, 2007 12:36 PMWell, he does seem to have better taste in women than Clinton did.
But Bill's improving lately it seems....story here about Belinda Stronach.
Posted by Alex at February 1, 2007 12:56 PMWhatever. The only fucking I care about the kind Bushco is doing to the butt of America. But at least you've given Alex a boner because he gets to mention Clinton's boner for no good reason.
Posted by iamcoyote at February 1, 2007 01:21 PMYou don't have to make moral judgements about the man to think that it might not be the politically savviest move in the world to sleep with someone who is not only an employee, but also the spouse of your long-time friend and campaign manager.
That's just bad judgement.
Awwww now Coyote.
At least Clinton's lies didn't kill anyone.
Besides. Recall that it was necessary to get Bush (41) out of the White House to get some bush in the White House.
People's private lives should remain private.
Posted by Alex at February 1, 2007 04:09 PMuh, okay...
Posted by iamcoyote at February 1, 2007 04:52 PMChard, your point is the one that I think is most important. The affair was a betrayal of his friend and the wife of that friend. Although I tend to think the 20 year old is somewhat tacky, it's the betrayal of friendship where I think Newsom did wrong and where he should work to make amends.
Posted by Mary at February 1, 2007 10:22 PMI would think this kind of story deserves more scrutiny than a mayor's peccadillo.
Wal-Mart pays itself rent, gets large tax breaks.
Something newsworthy that's costing taxpayers money.
Posted by Alex at February 2, 2007 07:39 AMLincoln had some good quotes here like these....
"If I were two-faced, would I be wearing this one?"
"It has been my experience that folks who have no vices have very few virtues."
Okay, he's an idiot, but Ruby is
hot!
