Colts 38-21. The commercials will be typical Super Bowl crap.
Posted by DoubleB at February 4, 2007 02:29 PMDa Bears - 30-17
Posted by swimyouidiot at February 4, 2007 02:40 PMDa Bears ... 31-28 (although in my heart of hearts I think the Colts will win it...but I dislike Peyton Manning bigtime)
Commercials won't be memorable although I read there will be some aired in Minnesota, Virginia, and Maine that will be from the Veteran's againt the War group about the stupidity of the escalation plan...(putting pressure on Coleman, Warner, and Collins to support the Hagel Biden legislation) sounds like the only good one, but most people won't see it.
Hurry baseball season.
Posted by Christopher at February 4, 2007 02:44 PMIt is against my religion(tivongelical) to watch a commercial.
Will the national anthem be any good, or has the chimp ruined that too?
Bears win it 27-17. Bears get 3 turnovers.
Prince keeps his clothes on.
Who really gives a flying fuck?
These dirty lying cocksuckers are going to take this country to war against Iran.
Who gives a fuck about the outcome of a fucking game?
Posted by angryspittle at February 4, 2007 03:19 PMPrince, by a field goal. :)
Honestly, the game doesn't interest me, but I will tune in to see His Purpleness. That will be a halftime show to remember.
Posted by Stranger at February 4, 2007 03:22 PMIt's overpaid adult men in tights playing a child's game. One team always wins, one team always loses, no mystery, and which one wins doesn't matter at all. Give them bread and circuses. And polish sausages slathered in greasy meat sauce. (They don't eat that in Indianapolis.)
Posted by have skunk at February 4, 2007 03:53 PMYou are missing the whole point of what this great country is all about and what our brave soldiers are fighting for.
Mother, applepie, Prince, the superbowl, K street, Ann Colter, birdflu, and the God given right to knock up your cousin in the marital bed of a pickup truck.
Welcome to our culture, people of Iraq!
Posted by TIKI AL at February 4, 2007 03:54 PMCouldn't tell you who won last year. Won't watch this year. It simply doesn't interest me.
Posted by phidipides at February 4, 2007 04:46 PMUse W;s head as a football, why don't they? According to a recent poll, W is more despised than Satan. Pope John Paul II and Chavez said the prick was the ultimate dick, but were ignored. We needed a poll.....
Posted by Mal Feasance at February 4, 2007 06:11 PMI'd hoped all the pundits were wrong.
They were right.
Lovie Smith's team was completely unprepared for this game. Only luck (and Indy's inherent incompetence) kept it close through the 3rd quarter.
Bears' fans have enjoyed having the 85 team always considered amongst the greatest of all time. We now have to get used to having the 06 team considered amongst the worst Super Bowl teams ever. We're in the same league as the 00 Giants and 85 Pats. We're that bad.
Lovie Smith is Dan Reeves of the 21st century. His coaching style, combined with the talent he has, will win a lot of games but ZERO championships.
Too bad. Really too bad.
Posted by Bears fan at February 4, 2007 06:37 PMBears fan,
The Bears had a large talent/experience deficiency at QB and the defense, while very good, is not the 85 Bears or the 2000 Ravens.
That said, it was still a game until Grossman's second INT. They were moving the ball, I wonder why they went long at that point?
I hope in time the disappointment will fade and that you will remember the good times.
Sincerely,
A Cleveland sports fan whose bitterness cannot be measured by conventional means.
Posted by James E. Powell at February 4, 2007 06:58 PMMammon, the god of commericalism has been fed at his annual Febuary fiest. This god of electricity and shallow entertainments is tempoarally satiated.
As usual, the commericals did not live up tho thier hype, nor did the Bears. But the Colts did, congratulations, Indianapolis.
BFD. I'm watching the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet
Posted by john at February 4, 2007 07:11 PMJames E. PowelL: Thanks for the kind words. Realizing you're are a Browns fan (near where I went to college) suddenly gives me great sympathy for you.
But even with your kind words, this isn't the first time that I've realized Lovie Smith just doesn't have super-bowl winning genes. I'm just shocked that after 2 weeks of prep -- and given the nervousness of the Colts the beginning -- that Smith's team was as unprepared as they were. I feel like Broncos' fans must have felt after leading Washington 10-0 in 1988, only to lose 45-10. Their coach, Dan Reeves, was slaughtered in all 4 super bowls in which he appeared. I fear Lovie Smith faces the same fate.

The swimmer gets the prize for coming closest to the actual score, only one point off. That's the good news. You know the bad news.
Which reminds me of the one about the woman who got a new job and had to walk a new route to work, which took her by a pet store. As she walked by the store the first day a parrot in a cage outside the store said "You're ugly". The woman gave Polly a dirty look, but when it happened again the second day--"You're ugly"--she went in the store and gave the manager what for. "If that happens again we're in court"! The third day as she walked by the pet store the parrot said: "You know".
Posted by Don Bacon at February 4, 2007 07:54 PMHmmm, I say Colts 29-Bears 17. I'll check back later to see how I did.
Posted by steve duncan at February 4, 2007 08:22 PMBears fan,
I understand your frustration. The Bears looked like and played like crap. But the reality is that they are a slightly better than average team playing in a crap conference. They aren't 13-3 good (more like 10-6). I think they have to win games by doing exactly what they did against the Saints--great special teams, win the turnover battle, minimize offensive mistakes. Today they just didn't execute well after the opening kickoff. Do you think they have quality offensive personnel?
Dan Reeves gets more heat for taking crap teams to the Super Bowl than anyone in history. He's also been incredibly unfortunate. He was an underdog every game, mostly a TD plus. Read a play-by-play of the 1st half of Super Bowl 21. They completely dominated the half, but they botched some early red zone opportunities.
Posted by at February 4, 2007 08:35 PMOne of the worst super bowls ever, IMHO. Really boring. Bad commercials. Prince was bad at halftime, too.
Bears were outplayed all game long.
Posted by muckdog at February 4, 2007 10:23 PMEven Billy Jowells rendition of the national anthem was uninspiring.
Anyone who cares about the outcome of something as trivial as a game played by overpaid crybabies is a big stupidhead.(especially if they picked the bears)
Posted by TIKI AL at February 4, 2007 11:40 PMSo, 75% of the most expensive ad-time on Earth went to hawk two bad beers, Coke and Ford's egregious monster pick-ups?
Interesting how BigOil doesn't feel a need to advertise its "product" to the American "consumer".
