Good morning Steve: this article in today's Salon, by Sidney Blumenthal, is a must read:
Here's his summation:
The Senate Republicans' vote to suppress the resolution on the war was the moment when they irrevocably aligned themselves completely with a president who rejects objective analysis. Unable to shield him or themselves from the inevitable consequences, they have made a conscious decision to place the president's delusions above the welfare not only of the Republican Party but also of the troops sent into the deadly labyrinth of Baghdad. Quietly and calmly, as the Republicans hype the "surge," the war planners prepare for the worst.
Posted by Goyo at February 8, 2007 09:01 AMWhat amazes me is the total lack of, and I won't say shame, that isn't the right word, self respect I guess, that people like Rice demonstrate when the sing the BushCo song, dance the BushCo dance.
Money cannot buy self worth, watching teevee all day does not make a life worth living, yet that is what they do, try to buy a life by looking like complete and total fools.
No one imagined, she shrieked, the impact water would have on the Wicked Witch of the West.

Our forces claim they killed 13 "insurgents" in a strike today, yet we managed to kill 45 noncombatants, including women, children, and seniors.
I see Captain Jamil Hussein is hard at work again. Was it a "wedding party"?
You people will believe anything Al Qaeda tells the press.
Posted by section9 at February 8, 2007 10:29 AMThe only thing funnier than a wingnut still clinging to Bush's codpiece is one still using old, long debunked talking points. Thanks for the laugh, silly old troll!

Seriously, why not just mock us for not believing they found WMDs?
Posted by dj moonbat at February 8, 2007 12:23 PMCNN is showing Charlie Company's day to day impossible situation being holed up in a compound dubbed "the Alamo" in the middle of a bunch of bad guys. They have had 5 killed and 24 wounded.
They are fired on every single day. With the surge many more Alamos are going to be built in very scary neighborhoods. Asking our soldiers to re-enact Texas history is insane.
Posted by TIKI AL at February 8, 2007 12:53 PMSo now ordinary Iraqi police officers and public hospital doctors are "al Qaeda". Looks like we're really making progress in Iraq!
To members of the 101st Fighting KeyBoarders like section8, every body found after a US airstrike is an "insurgent"; their army press officer told them so! You can tell tell just by lookin' at 'em, right Major?
Posted by euzoius at February 8, 2007 12:55 PMHad to come back and post this, for our latest troll:
Pre-War Politics Over Facts
Pentagon report finds the conclusion of Iraq-Al Qaeda link was not based on intelligence.

Seems as if everything that Bushco does is not based on intelligence--supply your own punchline here!
