Bush will says that he is attacking Iran to protect American soldiers Iraq. He and his surragates will insist that the Iranians are giving aid to the insurgents. It is similar to what Richard Nixon said to justify the bombing of Cambodia. He was protecting American soldiers in Viet Nam.
Coincedently, the NSA advisor who executed Nixon's plans was none other than Henry Kisinger who now is advising Bush.
Thus, Bush will do a Nixon Redux, Bomb Iran and overthrow an elected South American President by the name of Chavez. just as Nixon ordered the overthrow of the South American Elected President Allende in 1973.
Posted by mje at February 10, 2007 07:48 PMWe'll see if the Democrats are worthy of the hope they led people to believe in the 2006 election.
There isn't any need for endless committees about finding out this or that. The homework has already been done by the footsoldiers and all that's needed is a vote on impeachment.
We'll see if the Dems are worthy of people's faith in them.
Otherwise, the honeymoon's over.
Posted by Alex at February 10, 2007 09:05 PMthe dems are just another version of imperialists.
don't expect any anti-imperialism actions from them.
they have the same constituents. and it ain't joe and sally "WAGE SLAVE" smith.
it is jack and suzie.
the couple from GE.
Posted by albertchampion at February 10, 2007 10:02 PMIf I were a member of Congress, I would be more afraid not to impeach, than to impeach. The clock is ticking and time is running out.
Posted by Judith at February 11, 2007 05:05 AMHave any of you read the War Powers Act? Legally he must get the approval of Congress unless we are attacked first. With Bush as a dictator he might try to circumvent Congress.
Posted by JohnT at February 11, 2007 06:21 AMOnly the most far-gone authoritarian rightist could possibly conclude that the "president" may launch a sustained attack on the nation of Iran without Congressional approval. Do the 24/7 cable propaganda networks present these hearings about war powers to the citizenry?
If the Dems are being weak in confronting this rogue regime so far, how would you characterize the actions to date of the Repubs on the same score, alex? Equally "weak"? Essentially the same? No difference, ala albert?
Should confronting a rogue executive regime be utterly and completely the Dems responsibility?
Posted by euzoius at February 11, 2007 06:49 AMIf Gore outed a deepcover CIA agent trying to track down loose nukes for the safety of Americans, he would have been impeached.
Put Cheney under oath and nail the traitor. Maybe Linda Tripp could help.
Posted by TIKI AL at February 11, 2007 07:03 AMWhy do I have this image of talking heads, talking, and talking, and talking, and talking, and talking, and talking, and a montage of rapid succession of images of people dying in Iraq? Are we going to talk about this War all the way to the 2008 elections? I am so f*cking sick of hearing about Iraq. Cut the f*cking funds, make a plan and a deadline for pulling our troops out, and then shut the f*ck up.
Posted by Judith at February 11, 2007 07:49 AMI'm quite sure that Linda Tripp is living a life of complete luxury, paid for by the GOP.
Posted by Judith at February 11, 2007 07:52 AMAnd if you are a graduate of the "if the dog hadn't stopped to take a piss" school, Linda Tripp could be blamed for the whole mess we find ourselves in.
Posted by TIKI AL at February 11, 2007 08:59 AMLegally he must get the approval of Congress unless we are attacked first.
And there's the rub.
