Comments: An Alternative Iraq Policy For Democrats

oh would that any news would help disprove that americans are the stupidest group of people in the world. we have all the makings for fascism. our people are retarded morons that think religion is more important than science. that feelings are more important than facts.
I wish it were otherwise, but the US deserves the derision of other nations that aren't led by religions. it only seems the US is run by a religious cult. the current leaders play it like an out of tune piano, because they know how stupid the religious really are. blind followers of a moron named george

it is too embarrassing to comprehend. we deserve what we get, for we don't seem to have the guts to demand what is our right.

Bush will continue the War (wherever it is for whatever reason) as long as he has money and is still in office. Cut off the money. now.

Sounds like a good plan Sestak's got there---so get cracking, Dems. Time's awastin' There's a number of good plans now, including Brzezinski's.

It's very important for our democracy that an out-of-control executive be demonstrably "checked" and not permitted (under some "commander-in-chief" nonsense) to exercise only HIS will, while wilfully ignoring the democratically expressed will of the people.

If Deadeye remains unchecked throughout his two-term presidency, then it will be clear that our constitution has miserably failed us, and can no longer be relied upon as a system of democratic government. American "democracy" will be well and truly a world laughingstock, which the objective among us would have to admit.

The nation will continue of course, but it will be clearly as a failed, hollow entity in permanent decline, whose very foundation will have crumbled.

So the war in Afghanistan is a 'war on terror' and not a war to secure the future of the Unocal oil pipeline, with former Unocal consultant Karzai as acting president? Then I can't understand why you keyboard artists who think so are not over there fighting it, if it's that important.
Chickenhawks.

Ooooookaaaay.

How about a soccerdad/Steve shootout on the so-called "GWOT?":

"I will try to support the claim that there is no war on terror"--soccerdad

"Any Republican who argues against redeploying regular Army and Marine forces to Afghanistan is in effect waiving the white flag in the war on terror."--Steve Soto

Try another cup of java, snark. There's life in there somewhere.

And just like that you put the lie to your entire philosophy.

Setting a deadline by which the president must be successful in Iraq is so obviously ingenious I am surprised I didn't think of it myself. ( See " Don't Just Do Something, Stand There" at Worry Wort. 13Feb07 )

As for Afghanistan, I wonder whether Sibel Edmonds sees it as a war on terror. The spice must flow.

Steve good point about Blair's announcement. He's setting the table for the next PM to complete the bug out. The British are leaving and when they go watch the remainder of the coalition to skedaddle. I'm guessing before the Brits get their last soldier out. Then it's just us who will be patrolling the whole country.

I don't like the sound of that.

Tony Blair did include the "If needed we will return" line with his anouncement. No lessening needed he provided for a return.

Steve,
It isn't the war on terror--it's the "war on terror" --a bogus plan to sustain and increase corporate welfare under the facade of combating a fictitious threat with warfare against oil-related targets. Are we supposed to be outside the beltway or what?

More sham support for our troops by way of indulgence for the enemy.

Exactly!!!

Uhhh, hey! Wasn't it Rummy who sent war materials to the Saddamster during the 80s? By cracky, it was! So, those are the munitions killing our troops now...hmm, you and Rummy do a wonderful job of supporting the troops. Good job, Keyboard Kommando! Snap to, and stand at attention in your sagging underwear! You deserve the accolades of a thankful nation for killing our own troops...uhhh, I mean...insturgeons!
